Hi everyone, my name is Sarah Stinson and I am a second-year psychology student at UCLA, managing a recent chronic illness diagnosis. It my time at UCLA, I have kept myself busy with volunteering, employment, clubs, and lots of research! I am currently a volunteer Crisis Counselor for the peer support line (Lean on Me) on campus, as well as the national Crisis Text Line. In my free time, I am also a clinical volunteer at child development institute (Reseda/Canoga Park in LA) and Belmont Senior Village (Westwood LA). I am also a Behavioral Health Therapist for Spectrum Analytic Consulting LLC in Sacramento, providing in home autism interventions. However, my main priority is my research experience, as it is my ultimate aim to pursue graduate study in clinical psychology, specifically in the stress and aging subfields, with the goal of developing targeted psychological interventions that mitigate cognitive decline/suicidal ideation in high-stress elderly populations. I am a research assistant in four labs on campus, and a research assistant for an independent project. This project has been accepted to multiple international research conferences, which I am beyond excited about. In terms of my extracurriculars, I am a part of the campus Undergraduate Research Journal in Psychology, Community Health Collective (public health club), Bruinsynaptogenesis (psychology networking club), and Synapse (a brain injury/stroke support club. When I am not too busy, basketball/football, reading, skateboarding, and poetry have my heart. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me!
