When it comes to those in need, I am the person who loves to help out and give back. Growing up I've always loved helping the poor by doing things such as donating clothes and giving food and water. My parents always taught me to give back to those who need it most. So, every Thanksgiving i get up early to pass out food to homeless people around the city to feed and give clothes to them on a day that they deserve kindness and love. I always love donating my blood to the Red Cross when I can. Times where I can donate clothes, food, money, etc. I will always be willing to do so because my goal is to help people. This has taught me so much growing up and made my heart so open to helping others. This inspires me to do more when I come across opportunities to help people in my community.
I knew I wanted to make an impact and I want to do that by becoming an RN. I want to be in the medical field to help people and help our society be stronger. I am currently starting off as a CNA to get my foot in the field. I want to help the world and be one of the people that helps our population get better. I have always been drawn to the medical field since I was young and saw it as an inspirational career. I started my medical education in the summer of 2023 where I went to school during the summer to become a CNA.
When I turned 16, I joined a CNA program. CNA stands for Certified Nursing Assistant. You can get this license as young as 16 and I did so. As part of this program, I attended classes for a total of five weeks during the summer. It was really challenging for me to find work when I initially got my license because of the fact that I was so young at the time. I was lucky that I found a rehabilitation center that immediately hired me. Now I've been working there for almost 8 months, and I feel like it is a really great experience getting the license this young and getting the experience of a hospital setting so young. At the facility, I learn a lot of other stuff besides the basic duties of a CNA. Due to the fact that I plan on pursuing a career in the medical field, I believe that getting a Certified Nursing Assistant certification at a young age is a great opportunity and experience.
After working in the medical field my passion for helping patients grew. I knew I wanted to become a nurse so I could do more in the medical field. I feel that the medical field is a huge environment where education never stops. There are so many different types of areas to work and study in. I know that pathway will gear me toward a future RN that will give me the tools and guidance I need to be successful in my career. This will open a lot of doors for me. I hope to get accepted into my dream college and share my success with future candidates. My aspiration is that my story will inspire someone to pursue their dreams and goals and that anything is possible. Determination is the key to success.

Faith. We all have our own faiths and beliefs growing up. We stay strong to those who we believe in. Faith gets us closer to our loved ones and a place where we can be free. The one lesson I've learned specifically this past year is “stay close to God because life is short, don't take your time for granted”. I now live by this every day as my life has changed in the span of a year.
On May 1st at 2:00 AM, I woke up to a horrifying scream, it was my mom screaming over her bed. I woke up and opened my eyes, but I didn't get up... I was too scared to get out of my bed wanting to believe it was a dream. I heard my brother get out of his room and ask what happened and she screamed that my cousin had been shot. My heart dropped so fast and i that second my gut twisted from what I just heard. My mom and brother rushed to the hospital while me and my sister stayed home. I waited on my bed for them to call on any updates or come back home. Around 4 AM I got a text saying, “You're not going to school tomorrow it’s late, we will be home in the morning”. These words made me question if everything was ok, and it made me think. I started to look on new reports of any shootings near buy in the area. There was one I found in Granada saying a car had been shot at and pulled over on the side of the road. I didn't think it had anything to do with my cousin because it wasn't his car. After it gets later, I fall asleep. My mom and brother got home at 7 in the morning and broke the news to me and my sister that he had passed away.
This was the hardest thing I had to experience and go through. It was a horrifying accident that you would never have thought would happen to your family. Previously before this, I had other things going on and when this happened It made me really question God. I was mad upset and angry. WHY, WHY MY FAMILY! I was upset at the person that I would never even think to be upset at. I was in pain. It made me question my belief in God.
I was a strong believer in God growing up. I would volunteer at the church and have always looked up to him. The unfortunate events truly got me to question why God would allow something like this to happen to a wonderful person. It taught me a lesson that made me turn away from God, but it pushed me to draw nearer to him so that I could fully understand the significance of everything. I'm understanding that praying to him just strengthens my relationship with my cousin and my faith in God.
I've come to understand that, at my weak moments, my attempts to push God away or distance myself from Him were just reflections of my disbelief. My belief in Christ has grown to define who I am, influencing not only the way I live but also the way I see the world. Because of my faith, I am able to face every day with confidence, knowing that I will never be completely alone, no matter what obstacles I face. Ultimately, we believe in Christ and stay close to him because he is the source of our power to lead extraordinary lives.
