Spirit of Wenatchee Aviation Scholarship
My interest in aviation comes from a passion that quickly developed into a clear and focused career path once I experienced what it truly means to fly. Aviation is a field that demands precision, discipline, and constant awareness, and I am drawn to the responsibility that comes with it. Flying requires critical thinking, strong decision-making, and the ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations. These are qualities I have developed through my academic and athletic experiences, and aviation gives me the opportunity to apply them in a meaningful and challenging way. More importantly, I am motivated by the idea of being part of something bigger than myself. Aviation connects people, supports communities, and plays a vital role in the world, and I want to contribute to that while continuing to push myself to be the best version of who I can be. After earning my aviation degree, I plan to pursue a professional career as a pilot. My goal is to continue advancing through additional certifications, ratings, and flight hours, eventually working in commercial aviation or another specialized sector that requires a high level of skill and responsibility. I am especially interested in opportunities that demand continuous growth, as aviation is constantly evolving with advancements in technology and safety. I want to be part of that progress while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and reliability. In addition to flying, I am also interested in understanding the broader systems within aviation, including operations and safety procedures, so that I can contribute more effectively to the industry as a whole. What inspired me to pursue aviation was not only my own experience in flight, but also my family history. My grandfather served in the Vietnam War working on Boeing CH-47 Chinook helicopters, and his courage and dedication left a lasting impression on me. Knowing the level of responsibility and commitment required in his role has inspired me to pursue a path where I can uphold similar values. His service showed me what it means to be part of something greater than yourself, and that perspective has influenced my decision to pursue aviation. Alongside that inspiration, my own experience of being in control of an aircraft and realizing the level of focus and discipline it requires confirmed that aviation was not just something I enjoyed—it was something I wanted to fully commit to. Flying challenged me in new ways, pushing me to stay focused, trust my training, and develop confidence in my decision-making. Earning my private pilot’s license on March 28th, 2026, was a significant milestone that solidified my commitment to this path. In addition to my aviation goals, I have remained highly involved in my community. Throughout high school, I have participated in eight school clubs, competed in three varsity sports, and taken on leadership roles that require responsibility and teamwork. I have also dedicated time to community service, recognizing the importance of giving back and supporting those around me. These experiences have helped me develop strong communication skills, leadership abilities, and the discipline needed to balance multiple responsibilities. Balancing academics, athletics, and community involvement has not always been easy, but it has taught me valuable lessons in time management, perseverance, and resilience. Overall, my interest in aviation is driven by both passion and purpose, and I am committed to continuing my education, advancing my skills, and pursuing a career where I can make a meaningful impact while striving to be the best version of myself.
Valerie Rabb Academic Scholarship
I am a driven and disciplined high school senior who has built my foundation around hard work, commitment, and a willingness to take on challenges. Throughout high school, I have pushed myself academically by taking rigorous courses while also competing in three varsity sports and being actively involved in eight school clubs. Outside of school, I have dedicated time to my community through service and leadership. These experiences have shaped me into someone who values responsibility, teamwork, and continuous growth. Showing that success is possible through hard work and determination is something I value deeply. One of the biggest challenges I have faced has been balancing the intensity of my schedule while maintaining high expectations for myself in every area. Managing academics, athletics, leadership roles, and community involvement has required constant organization and sacrifice. There have been times when the workload felt overwhelming, when practices extended late into the evening and assignments still needed to be completed, or when multiple responsibilities demanded my attention at once. Instead of allowing that pressure to hold me back, I learned how to manage my time effectively, prioritize tasks, and stay focused under stress. These experiences strengthened my resilience and taught me how to perform even when conditions are not ideal. Another challenge I have faced is preparing for a future that is both academically demanding and financially costly. Pursuing degrees in engineering and aviation requires significant resources, and the reality of funding my education has added pressure to my goals. I have approached this challenge by staying proactive—seeking scholarships, maintaining strong academic performance, and continuing to build a résumé that reflects my dedication. Overall, my experiences have shaped me into someone who embraces challenges and remains focused on long-term goals. I plan to make a positive impact by applying my skills in meaningful ways, maintaining high standards, and continuing to push myself toward growth and excellence in everything I do.

Ava Wood Stupendous Love Scholarship
“Kindness in Action”
One of the most meaningful acts of kindness I have been a part of was helping pack shoeboxes for children in need through my church, Olivet Baptist. This project allowed me to contribute to something bigger than myself, bringing joy to children who might otherwise go without basic necessities or small gifts. I carefully selected and packed each item, considering what would make a child feel seen and valued. While the task may seem small, I knew these shoeboxes could brighten a child’s day and serve as a tangible reminder that someone cared.
This moment was important to me because it reinforced the power of intentional, selfless action. It reminded me that kindness is not about recognition or reward—it is about serving others with love and thoughtfulness. It also deepened my understanding of community, showing me that even small contributions, when combined with the efforts of others, can create a significant impact. Through this experience, I learned that showing care and support strengthens connections, fosters gratitude, and reflects the values I strive to live by as a Christian. It encouraged me to continue looking for opportunities to serve and make a difference in the lives of others, whether through volunteering, mentoring, or simple everyday acts of kindness.
“Creating Connection”
I have always valued bringing people together and creating spaces where everyone feels welcomed and included. One way I have done this is through coaching youth girls in basketball and tennis. Many of these young athletes were initially hesitant or lacked confidence in their abilities, and my role was to help them feel capable, supported, and part of a team. I focused on encouraging teamwork, celebrating small successes, and teaching them that effort and growth matter as much as winning. Over time, I watched them build trust in one another, form friendships, and develop confidence in their own skills.
Additionally, volunteering with my basketball team to help elementary students during school drop-off gave me another opportunity to create connection. By engaging with students warmly, assisting them as they arrived, and modeling kindness, I contributed to a welcoming environment that helped them start their day on a positive note. These experiences taught me that inclusion is not just about presence—it is about actively creating spaces where people feel valued, supported, and connected. Fostering belonging has become a core part of who I am, both on the court and in my community, and it inspires me to continue building relationships and strengthening communities wherever I go.

One project that stood out was helping open car doors for children at local elementary schools during arrival times. This simple act created a welcoming and positive environment for students and families as they began their school day. It taught me that service does not always have to be large or complex to be meaningful. By working together as a team, we were able to create a small but impactful moment of kindness that set a positive tone for the day.
Through these experiences, I have learned that contributing to my community means being present, intentional, and willing to serve wherever help is needed. Coaching youth, supporting my church, and participating in service projects with my team have shaped my understanding of leadership and responsibility. These opportunities have reinforced my belief that true success is not measured only by personal accomplishments, but by the positive impact one has on others. Moving forward, I am committed to continuing my involvement in community service and using my strengths to uplift and inspire those around me.
