    Women in Music Scholarship
My music takes classic nostalgic pop culture and reimagines it with a focus on inclusivity, queer positivity, embracing the past, and driving forward. From birth, I have been completely engulfed in music every day of my life. My father was a trumpet player and my mother was a vocalist so there has always been music in my home. From singing together doing the dishes each night when we were kids, to creating live music experiences, My sister Kristen and I are musical collaborators and artistic partners. We have created a band-turned musical spectacular, Grooveship, that has set sail on many stages and moved to the digital space during this pandemic. This fall, Kristen and I are living out our dreams by moving to New York City to attend a brand new graduate program at Berklee NYC. Berklee School of Music has a stellar reputation in music education and we are thrilled to be advancing our careers in the music industry by studying there. Music crosses all the barriers of language, time, space, borders, and differences. It enhances each day, brings us joy, helps us grieve, and is there for us through all moments of life. As a musician and sound engineer, there is no art form more meaningful to me than music. I hope to be an example to other women, girls, and non-binary people, that they can be a sound engineer too and have a successful career in the music industry.

IG @glitterbo87 I am proud to be a woman who works in a 95% male-dominated field, sound engineering. In my work at ChiArts High School, I set an example for our queer, trans, non-binary, and female-identifying students that they can do what I do someday. Although gender is a construct, I feel proud to be a woman because of the adversity woman have faced around the world and how we overcome those challenges every day.
