My grandmother is someone that I look up to and aspire to be like every day of my life. She went to school in the 60s while she was a mother. She is one of my greatest role models because in the 60s they still discriminated against women and especially since she was in the STEM field she faced even more. Today women still have to work twice as hard as men and still don't get the same treatment so just thinking about her at one of the most prestigious colleges, MIT, and working hard to get to her dream is so inspiring to me. She is a scientist and she has worked so hard for the past year and she is one of the scientists that worked to find solutions for this pandemic and I am just so proud of her. I dream to work in the medical field also and she has just inspired me to work even harder in reaching my goals and I want to do great things not only to make her proud but to make all the other women of the world proud and help us work to being treated as equals in anything we do and put our minds to because women are the future.

America, it's the land with "liberty and justice for all" right? when I was a child I was made to believe that America was the best country in the world but as I grew up I soon realized that was far from the truth. Growing up in America as the daughter of a new immigrant and single mother, life was hard. There were days where my sister and I had to stay in our apartment alone because my mother had to go to school and we had no babysitter or days where we had to go to the cheapest daycares where they neglected us because that's all we could afford. America seems like it's so amazing but for who, The rich? the white? The males? Growing up as an African girl in America was fairly difficult not only did I receive discrimination from everyone else, I had to deal with it from people that looked like me, African Americans, being told that I was poor and we lived in huts, or that my food was weird and stinky, or being called names it hurt, as a child, I felt like I needed to hide who I was and for a long portion of my life I did, I didn't want to be associated with anything African. Being the child of an immigrant is very stressful, Having to constantly hear how she had built her life up all by herself and all the struggles she's faced. I have no room for failure and I always need to succeed. This mentality plays a big part in my current mental health. I take failure very seriously sometimes too seriously although I understand failure is apart of the learning process, I continue to try to get everything right the first try. I'm currently working through my anxiety and the pandemic isn't really helping but that's one of my main struggles right now and I am doing all I can to push through it for my own sake and well-being. Anything I want I have to work 100x harder anything I get for free my mother would consider a "handout" so I've always been taught to work hard not be lazy and go out and get what I want and I will continue to do that until I get where I want to be. When I finally graduate highschool My goal is to go to a four-year university then make it into dental school to become a dentist. I would like to start a dental program for Low income families that arent able to afford dental care because I know how it is not being able to afford the necessities and I do not want anyone to go through that. Hopefully, I will be able to help lots of families like mine. With this scholarship, I will be able to pay for some of my school fees and I would be eternally grateful.

My name is sarah Coulibaly I’m 16 years old going on 17 very soon, I really want to do something In the medical field and one of my close friends recently found out she had a tumor in her mouth and that just made me want to look further into the dental field because I would like to help people because for me a teeth are a big part I was and currently am somewhat still insecure about them but I don’t want anyone to feel like this because I know how it feels and it’s just so interesting and I want to help make dental care more accessible to everyone because such a small part of your body can cause some of the biggest feeling of insecurity.
