I am a very ambitious person who goes after what she wants with everything she has. I am very determined, organized, and goal-oriented. I am after my second bachelors degree as an adult student, as I realized that my first bachelors does not relate to what I want to do in life anymore. I'm looking forward to a career of helping individuals realize their healthiest selves regardless of any medical conditions they may have.

Diabetes Impact Scholarship
I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes about nine years ago, and during those nine years I have received so much help and guidance from numerous medical professionals on how to manage my diabetes. Being a very active individual from having danced to teaching Zumba to always on my feet at my current job, I have always been a strong believer that exercise plays a big role in helping to manage my blood sugars.
My future goal is to become an Exercise Physiologist. I currently see one and she has been a tremendous asset in helping me to manage my type 1 diabetes while being able to still live an active lifestyle. We discuss when to decrease my insulin dosage and by how much (depending on the exercise I'm doing,) and what to do for meals especially post exercise.
There's a lot that can happen with exercise and having a chronic condition. Having my Exercise Physiologist has made it easier and more doable to exercise and still maintain a stable blood sugar pre, during, and post exercise. My hope for the future is to work with those with chronic conditions, such as type 1 or type 2 diabetes, to educate them and create an exercise plan with them to aid them in managing their condition. I have seen for myself how it can positively affect myself and I want to be able to bring that education to others who may not be receiving it.
