      Strength in Neurodiversity Scholarship
Living with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) has shaped my life in ways I never anticipated. From a young age, I struggled to focus, constantly battling a mind that seemed to race ahead of itself, never quite staying in one place long enough to finish a task. School was particularly challenging—I often felt like I was running a marathon in quicksand, unable to keep up despite my best efforts. Assignments piled up, deadlines loomed, and I was left feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, and, at times, defeated. The world around me didn’t always understand. Teachers saw my lack of focus as laziness, peers viewed my forgetfulness as carelessness, and I began to internalize these misconceptions. I questioned my intelligence, my abilities, and my worth. The noise in my head was relentless, a constant reminder that I was somehow different, somehow less capable. This internal struggle often left me feeling isolated, like I was in a room full of people who spoke a different language, one I couldn’t quite grasp. But amid the chaos, there was a silver lining. My mind, though scattered, was also creative, curious, and capable of seeing the world in ways others might miss. I discovered that while I struggled with tasks that required linear thinking, I excelled in areas that allowed for creativity and abstract thought. My passion for music, for instance, became a lifeline. In the melodies and lyrics, I found a way to express the whirlwind of emotions and thoughts that swirled within me. Writing music allowed me to channel my energy into something meaningful, something that made sense of the chaos. A turning point in my journey came when I began medication for my ADD. It was as though a fog had lifted. Suddenly, I could focus, organize my thoughts, and approach tasks with a newfound clarity. The world that once seemed so overwhelming became more manageable, and I began to see my potential in a new light. The medication didn’t change who I was, but it helped me harness the strengths that had always been there, buried beneath the noise. As I prepare for college, I’m determined to leverage my unique neurodiverse strengths to succeed academically and professionally. My experience with ADD has taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of self-advocacy. I’ve learned how to break down tasks into manageable steps, how to use tools like planners and apps to stay organized, and how to seek help when I need it. These strategies will be crucial in college, where the demands are higher and the need for time management and prioritization is essential. In my future career, whether it’s in the arts, music, or another creative field, I know that my neurodiverse perspective will be a significant asset. My ability to think differently, to see connections others might miss, and to approach problems with creativity and innovation will allow me to contribute in ways that are uniquely my own. I’m excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and confident that my neurodiversity will be a source of strength, not a limitation. This scholarship would provide me with the resources I need to continue building on these strengths. It would allow me to access the education and support systems necessary to thrive in college and beyond. I’m eager to learn, grow, and contribute in meaningful ways, and I believe that my neurodiverse background will be a driving force behind my success.
      One Chance Scholarship
Music has always been the pulse of my life, the steady rhythm that keeps me going even when the world feels overwhelming. As a young girl navigating the complexities of growing up, music became my refuge, a place where I could pour out my thoughts, fears, and dreams without fear of judgment. My passion for writing music deepened when I was faced with the darkest period of my life—battling depression. It was during this time that I truly understood the healing power of music and its ability to transform pain into something beautiful and meaningful. Writing music became my therapy. It allowed me to express emotions that I couldn’t put into words otherwise. The process of crafting lyrics, setting them to a melody, and creating a piece of art from my struggles was incredibly cathartic. It was through music that I found a way to cope, to heal, and to connect with others who might be feeling the same way. My songs became a voice not just for myself but for those who couldn’t find the words to express their own pain. One of the most significant moments in my life was when I wrote and produced my first song as a memoir to my best friend, who tragically took her own life. This experience solidified my desire to pursue a career in music, not just as a personal outlet, but as a way to help others. I want to create music that speaks to people on a deep level, that offers solace and understanding in times of need. My goal is to use my music to make a positive impact, to be a source of comfort and strength for those who are struggling. This scholarship would be a crucial stepping stone on my journey to achieving that goal. It would provide me with the opportunity to further develop my skills, to learn from experienced professionals, and to gain the tools I need to make my dream a reality. More importantly, it would allow me to continue my education without the financial burden that often comes with pursuing a career in the arts. With this scholarship, I would be able to focus entirely on honing my craft, on creating music that matters, and on making a difference in the lives of others. In the long term, I see myself as a professional songwriter and producer, someone who not only creates music but also mentors and supports other young artists who are going through difficult times. I want to be a part of a community that values authenticity, creativity, and emotional expression. This scholarship would not only support my personal growth but would also enable me to give back to that community in a meaningful way. In conclusion, my passion for music is not just about creating songs; it’s about creating connections, healing wounds, and bringing light to the darkest places. This scholarship would help me on my journey to becoming the artist I aspire to be, one who uses her music to inspire, uplift, and comfort others, just as music has done for me.
      Bear Fan Scholarship
The perfect ending to *The Bear* would be one that balances the chaos and struggle with a sense of hope and fulfillment for each of the characters we’ve come to know and love. Here’s how I imagine it: **Carmy:** After everything Carmy has been through—losing his brother, trying to save the restaurant, and battling his inner demons—I see him finally finding a sense of peace. Carmy decides to open a second, smaller restaurant where he can focus on creativity without the intense pressure. This new space allows him to rediscover his love for cooking, surrounded by a tight-knit team that feels more like family. His new restaurant is a success, not because of its size or accolades, but because it’s a reflection of who he is—someone who has finally found balance and purpose. **Sydney:** Sydney’s journey has been one of growth and self-discovery. By the end of the series, she’s become a confident and respected chef in her own right. She decides to stay with Carmy at the original restaurant, but with a twist—they become partners. Together, they transform the restaurant into something truly special, blending Carmy’s fine-dining expertise with Sydney’s innovative ideas. The restaurant becomes a symbol of their shared vision and hard work. Sydney finally feels she’s found her place in the culinary world, and she’s no longer just trying to prove herself—she’s already proven. **Richie:** Richie’s character has always been a bit of a wildcard, but he’s also shown the most potential for change. In the perfect ending, Richie finally accepts that the old way of doing things is gone, and he starts to embrace the future. He takes on a new role in the restaurant, one that lets him use his street smarts and charisma to bring in customers and keep the place buzzing. He also starts to repair his relationship with his daughter, realizing that being a good father is the most important thing he can do. By the end of the series, Richie has found his place in the new world that Carmy and Sydney are building, and he’s proud to be part of it. **Sugar:** Sugar, Carmy’s sister, has always been the glue holding the family together, even when everything seemed to be falling apart. In the perfect ending, Sugar steps back from the day-to-day operations of the restaurant to focus on her own dreams. She starts a family of her own, and while she’s still involved with the restaurant, it’s on her own terms. She’s happy, fulfilled, and finally feels like she can live her life without constantly worrying about Carmy and Richie. But she’s always there to support them, because that’s just who she is. **The Restaurant:** The original restaurant, now co-owned by Carmy and Sydney, becomes a beloved neighborhood institution. It’s not just a place to eat; it’s a community hub where people come together to enjoy great food and each other’s company. The restaurant doesn’t just survive—it thrives, and it’s a testament to everything they’ve all been through together. The final scene of the series shows the restaurant on a busy night, the kitchen humming with activity, and the dining room full of happy customers. It’s not perfect, but it’s real, and it’s theirs. In the end, *The Bear* would close with a sense of hope and possibility. The characters have all found their paths, and while they’ve faced countless challenges, they’ve come out stronger on the other side. The restaurant stands as a symbol of their journey, a place where they’ve all found purpose, family, and a reason to keep going.
      Nintendo Super Fan Scholarship
One of my all-time favorite games to play in co-op mode has to be "Super Mario 3D World." There’s just something about teaming up with friends or family in this game that makes it so much fun. The mix of cooperation and friendly competition, combined with the colorful worlds and catchy music, creates an experience that’s both challenging and hilarious. Every session feels like a new adventure, and it’s hard not to get hooked. One memorable moment that solidified "Super Mario 3D World" as my top choice happened during a family game night. It was me, my younger sister, and my two cousins, and we were determined to beat the entire game together. We’d been playing for a couple of hours, working our way through the different levels, but things really heated up when we got to World 6-2: "Spooky Seasick Wreck." This level is set on a haunted shipwreck that’s constantly tilting from side to side, with ghostly enemies called Peepas floating around trying to knock you off. To make things even trickier, there were these huge Bowser statues that would come crashing down, sending shockwaves across the platform. We were all screaming and laughing as we tried to dodge the enemies, avoid falling off the ship, and somehow stay alive. At one point, we reached a section where we had to time our jumps perfectly to avoid the shockwaves while grabbing green stars scattered across the level. My sister, playing as Princess Peach, decided to take the lead since Peach can float for a bit longer, giving us a better chance to make it across. But right as she was about to make a jump, my cousin (who was playing as Mario) accidentally bumped into her, sending her flying off the edge and into the water below. We all burst out laughing, even though it meant we had to start that section over again. Despite the chaos, we eventually managed to make it to the end of the level, and the feeling of accomplishment was so worth it. The teamwork, the shouting, and the sheer ridiculousness of the situation made it one of the most memorable gaming experiences I’ve ever had. We were all exhausted from laughing so hard, but we couldn’t wait to tackle the next level. What makes "Super Mario 3D World" so great in co-op mode is that it brings people together in a way that few games do. It’s not just about beating the game; it’s about the shared experience, the memories you create along the way, and the bonds that are strengthened through all the laughter and teamwork. Whether you’re playing with friends or family, it’s a game that guarantees a good time, and that’s why it’s my favorite for multiplayer sessions.
      1989 (Taylor's Version) Fan Scholarship
If my year so far had a soundtrack, I’d definitely pick a few songs from "1989 (Taylor's Version)" because this year has been a rollercoaster of emotions, and Taylor Swift’s lyrics have a way of capturing exactly how I feel. The three songs that would make it onto my personal soundtrack are “Blank Space,” “Out of the Woods,” and “Clean.” Each of these tracks represents a different part of my journey this year. First up is “Blank Space.” This year has been all about reinventing myself and stepping into a new chapter, just like Taylor does in this song. At the beginning of the year, I made a lot of changes—new goals, new friends, and even a new outlook on life. There were moments where I felt like I had a “blank space” in front of me, and I could write anything I wanted in it. But, just like the song says, there were also times when things didn’t go exactly as planned. I’ve had some situations where people didn’t turn out to be who I thought they were, and it felt like I was living the lyrics, “Got a long list of ex-lovers, they’ll tell you I’m insane.” While I’m not literally dealing with ex-lovers, there’s definitely been some drama and misunderstandings that have made me feel a bit like the chaotic, confident character Taylor embodies in the song. It’s been about learning from those experiences and embracing the unpredictability of life. Next on the soundtrack is “Out of the Woods.” This song is all about the uncertainty that comes with being in the middle of something intense and not knowing how it will end. For me, this perfectly describes how I felt during some major challenges I faced this year. Whether it was dealing with school stress, friendships that were on the rocks, or just trying to figure out who I am, there were so many moments where I was asking myself, “Are we out of the woods yet?” The repeated question in the song captures that anxiety and hope that things will eventually get better. There were times when I felt like I was barely hanging on, but just like in the song, I kept pushing forward, trusting that I’d find my way out eventually. And even though I might not be completely “out of the woods” yet, I’m definitely closer than I was before, and that’s what matters. Finally, I’d end the soundtrack with “Clean.” This song is like a breath of fresh air, and it represents the feeling of finally letting go of everything that was weighing me down. After all the ups and downs this year, “Clean” is about reaching a point where I can look back and say, “I’m finally over it.” The lyrics, “The drought was the very worst / When the flowers that we’d grown together died of thirst,” resonate with me because they remind me of the friendships and situations that I’ve outgrown. It’s bittersweet, but it’s also incredibly freeing to realize that sometimes, you have to let go of the past to make space for something new. This song is like the calm after the storm, and it’s a reminder that no matter what happens, I’m going to be okay. In the end, my year so far has been full of highs and lows, but these songs from "1989 (Taylor’s Version)" perfectly capture the emotions I’ve felt along the way. Whether it’s the thrill of new beginnings, the stress of uncertainty, or the peace that comes with finally moving on, Taylor’s music has always been there.
      Love Island Fan Scholarship
Alright, so I’ve got this totally epic idea for a brand-new Love Island challenge. It’s called "Heart Strings," and it’s all about testing how well the couples really know each other while adding a bit of drama and fun, of course! Here’s how it works: Each couple is tied together by a red string, kind of like the whole “red string of fate” idea, which is super cute, right? But here’s the twist—only one person in the couple is blindfolded, and they have to rely entirely on their partner to guide them through a crazy obstacle course. This isn’t just any obstacle course, though. It’s designed to be both physically and mentally challenging, so the couples have to really trust and communicate with each other to make it through. The course starts with something light—a giant inflatable maze where the blindfolded person has to navigate through while their partner gives them directions. But here’s where it gets interesting: There are random distractions popping up everywhere. Think water balloons being thrown, wind machines, and even other Islanders trying to mess them up with fake instructions! The goal is to see if the couples can stay focused on each other and not get thrown off by the chaos. Next up is a memory game. The blindfolded person is led to a station with a bunch of objects that hold significance for their relationship, like a teddy bear from their first date or a song lyric that means something to them. The twist? The non-blindfolded partner has to describe each item without saying exactly what it is, and the blindfolded person has to guess what it is. If they get it right, they move on to the next station. If not, they get hit with a blast of confetti, which is hilarious but also a little distracting. Finally, the last part of the challenge is the “Heart Jump.” The couples have to work together to get across a series of giant, heart-shaped platforms floating in a pool. The platforms are wobbly and not easy to balance on, so the couples have to communicate really well to keep each other from falling in. The catch? If the string connecting them breaks at any point, they’re out! It’s all about staying connected—literally and emotionally. The best part about "Heart Strings" is that it’s not just about winning a prize (although the winning couple does get a romantic dinner under the stars, so that’s a bonus!). It’s about seeing how well the couples know and trust each other, and if they can work together under pressure. Plus, watching them get all tangled up in the strings and laughing at the silly moments would make for such good TV. I can already picture the drama, the laughs, and maybe even some unexpected surprises—like a couple realizing they’re not as in sync as they thought. "Heart Strings" would definitely be a challenge the Islanders and viewers would never forget!
      “Stranger Things” Fanatic Scholarship
If I could form a squad with any three characters from "Stranger Things" to face a new supernatural threat, I’d definitely go with Robin, Steve, and Max. They may not have Eleven’s powers, but they’re the perfect mix of bravery, wit, and pure determination. Plus, their personalities just vibe with mine, and together we’d make the ultimate team. First up, Robin Buckley. Let’s be real—Robin is one of the coolest characters in the entire series. She’s smart, quick-thinking, and has this incredible ability to keep her cool under pressure. Remember how she cracked that Russian code in Season 3? That was insane! Robin’s intelligence would be invaluable when facing a new supernatural threat. She’s not just book-smart; she’s also street-smart, which is super important when things start to get scary. Plus, Robin has this sarcastic sense of humor that makes even the most terrifying situations feel a little less terrifying. I can totally picture her cracking jokes while we’re running from some creepy creature, making the whole thing feel like an adventure rather than a horror show. Next, I’d have to pick Steve Harrington. I mean, who wouldn’t want Steve in their squad? He’s the definition of loyal, and he’s always there when his friends need him. Sure, he started out as the typical high school jock, but by the time Season 2 rolled around, he became the ultimate “mom” friend. Steve’s protective instincts are on point, and he’s shown time and time again that he’ll risk his own life to save his friends. Plus, he’s got those sick bat-wielding skills, which would definitely come in handy when fighting off whatever supernatural threat we’re up against. But it’s not just about the fighting—Steve has this way of bringing everyone together. He’s the glue that would keep our squad united, no matter how crazy things got. And let’s be honest, his hair alone is a morale booster! Finally, I’d bring Max Mayfield into the mix. Max is such a fierce and independent character, and she’s definitely someone I’d want by my side in a crisis. She’s been through so much, yet she remains strong and resilient. Max isn’t afraid to stand up for herself or for her friends, even when things get tough. She’s also an incredible skater, and I feel like her agility and speed would be a huge asset when we’re trying to outrun whatever supernatural force is after us. But more than that, Max has this unbreakable spirit. Even after everything she’s been through with Billy and the Mind Flayer, she never gives up. She’s a fighter, and her determination would inspire the rest of us to keep going, no matter how scary things got. Together, Robin, Steve, and Max would make the ultimate squad. Robin would be our brains, always thinking one step ahead and keeping us on track. Steve would be our brawn, ready to jump into action and protect us from any physical threats. And Max would be our heart, reminding us why we’re fighting and keeping our spirits up even in the darkest moments. With their bravery, intelligence, and unwavering loyalty, our squad would be unstoppable. Facing a new supernatural threat would be terrifying, but with Robin, Steve, and Max by my side, I know we’d have a fighting chance.
      Sabrina Carpenter Superfan Scholarship
Sabrina Carpenter has captivated me not just as a singer and actress but as a true inspiration. Her journey from Disney Channel star to a multi-talented artist has been incredible to watch, especially as she’s grown and evolved alongside her fans. What draws me to Sabrina is her authenticity, vulnerability, and the way she expresses herself through her music. One of the things I admire most about Sabrina is her ability to be real. Whether she's discussing her personal life in interviews or sharing her thoughts on social media, Sabrina isn’t afraid to show her true self. This kind of transparency is rare and refreshing in the entertainment industry, where many people feel the need to present a polished, perfect image. Sabrina’s willingness to be open about her struggles and imperfections has made me feel less alone in my own challenges. She’s a reminder that it's okay to be human, to have flaws, and to keep growing. Sabrina's music, in particular, has had a profound impact on me. Songs like "Skin," "Exhale," and "Sue Me" have been my anthems during some of the toughest times in my life. Her lyrics often speak about navigating difficult relationships, self-doubt, and the pressures of growing up. These are all things I’ve experienced, and hearing Sabrina put them into words has helped me process my feelings and find strength in vulnerability. Moreover, Sabrina’s career has taught me the importance of perseverance. Watching her transition from Disney to pursuing a more mature music career has been inspiring. She didn’t let herself be pigeonholed by her past roles; instead, she took control of her narrative and continued to pursue her passions. This determination has motivated me to keep going after my dreams, no matter the obstacles I might face. In conclusion, Sabrina Carpenter is more than just a celebrity to me—she’s a role model who has made a real difference in my life. Her honesty, talent, and resilience have not only made me a fan but have also inspired me to embrace who I am and keep pushing forward, even when things get tough.
      Mad Grad Scholarship
Art has always been my way of making sense of the world and expressing my innermost thoughts and feelings. My motivation in pursuing visual arts and design stems from a deep-seated desire to create meaningful experiences and tell stories that resonate with others. Whether it’s through intricate illustrations, compelling designs, or imaginative storytelling, I find fulfillment in bringing ideas to life and connecting with people on a profound level. The advancements in technology, such as artificial intelligence and digital tools, have revolutionized the creative landscape, offering unprecedented opportunities for artists to explore new realms of expression. While these technologies enhance the capabilities of artists, I believe that the essence of creation and storytelling lies in the human touch—the unique perspective, emotion, and imagination that each artist brings to their work. My goal is to harness these technologies while maintaining the authenticity and personal connection that define true artistry. One of my major aspirations is to create a groundbreaking TV show and comic book series that blends visual artistry with compelling narratives. This project aims to explore themes of identity, resilience, and the human condition through a richly imagined world and characters. I want to craft stories that not only entertain but also provoke thought and evoke emotions, encouraging viewers and readers to reflect on their own experiences and perspectives. To achieve this, I plan to integrate advanced digital tools and AI to enhance the visual and narrative elements of the project. For example, I envision using AI to generate intricate background scenes and dynamic animations, while I focus on the core storytelling and character development. This synergy of technology and personal creativity will allow me to push the boundaries of what is possible and deliver an immersive and impactful experience. Ultimately, my pursuit of visual arts and design is driven by a passion for storytelling and a desire to make a meaningful impact through my work. By embracing technological advancements while staying true to the spirit of human creativity, I am excited to embark on this journey and contribute to the evolving world of art and design.

Selected Paragraph: “For the things we have to learn before we can do them, we learn by doing them. People become builders by building, and musicians by playing music. Similarly, we become just by doing just acts, temperate by doing temperate acts, brave by doing brave acts.” Essay: In Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics, the philosopher provides an insightful commentary on the nature of virtue and how we cultivate it through our actions. The selected passage emphasizes a fundamental principle: virtues are not merely intellectual concepts to be understood but are qualities developed through practice and repeated action. Aristotle’s assertion that “we become just by doing just acts” presents a powerful framework for understanding personal growth and ethical development, which is particularly relevant for individuals navigating the complexities of adolescence and early adulthood. Aristotle’s central thesis is that virtue is not an innate characteristic or a result of passive knowledge. Instead, it is cultivated through consistent and deliberate actions. By stating that “we learn by doing them,” Aristotle highlights the importance of active engagement in the process of developing virtues. This perspective challenges the idea that one can simply acquire virtue through theoretical understanding or by observing others. Rather, Aristotle argues that becoming virtuous requires us to practice virtuous behaviors consistently until they become an integral part of our character. This notion resonates deeply with me as a teenager striving to understand and develop my own character. For example, when I think about the qualities of resilience and empathy—two virtues that I aspire to embody—I realize that they are not traits that automatically manifest simply because I desire them. Instead, they require active effort and practice. Resilience, for instance, is built through facing and overcoming challenges, learning from failures, and persisting despite difficulties. Similarly, empathy is cultivated by actively listening to others, trying to understand their experiences, and offering support when needed. Aristotle’s insight also has practical implications for how we approach our daily lives and personal goals. When striving to achieve academic success, for instance, simply knowing the importance of hard work and discipline is not enough. Success comes from consistently applying effort, studying diligently, and persevering through obstacles. Similarly, in relationships, whether with friends or family, embodying qualities like kindness and understanding requires more than just recognizing their importance. It involves actively practicing these behaviors in our interactions, even when it might be challenging. Furthermore, Aristotle’s perspective offers a democratic view of virtue, suggesting that it is not an inherent trait possessed by a select few but a quality that everyone can develop. This democratization of virtue is empowering because it implies that regardless of our starting point, we have the capacity to grow and improve through our actions. It challenges the notion that some people are simply “born virtuous” while others are not. Instead, it places the emphasis on our ability to shape our character through our choices and behaviors. In addition to personal development, Aristotle’s philosophy can be applied to broader societal and ethical contexts. For example, in the realm of social justice, actively engaging in acts of fairness and equity is crucial for promoting a just society. Recognizing the importance of justice is not sufficient; individuals and communities must actively work towards creating and maintaining fairness in their actions and decisions. Aristotle’s view reinforces the idea that social change is driven by the collective actions of individuals who consistently strive to act in ways that reflect their values and principles. Moreover, this principle of learning through doing also emphasizes the importance of persistence and consistency. Developing virtues like bravery or temperance is not a one-time achievement but a continuous process of striving and practicing. This understanding encourages a growth mindset, where individuals view challenges and setbacks as opportunities for learning and improvement rather than as failures. It fosters resilience and motivates individuals to keep working towards their goals, knowing that their efforts will gradually shape their character and abilities. In conclusion, Aristotle’s passage from Nicomachean Ethics provides a profound understanding of virtue as something that is cultivated through active practice rather than passive knowledge. This perspective underscores the importance of engaging in virtuous behaviors consistently to develop and embody qualities such as justice, temperance, and bravery. By applying this principle to our personal lives, we can better navigate the challenges of growing up, achieve our goals, and contribute positively to society. Aristotle’s philosophy reminds us that our character and virtues are shaped by our actions, and that personal growth is an ongoing journey of learning and practice.

Books have always been my escape, my sanctuary, and my guiding light. They’re more than just words on a page; they’re entire worlds where I can lose myself and find myself all at once. I’ve learned so much from the stories I’ve read, especially those that explore the complexities of love, identity, and what it means to be true to yourself. These lessons have profoundly shaped my goals and who I aspire to become. One book that stands out to me is *Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe* by Benjamin Alire Sáenz. This book is about two boys navigating their identities, their feelings for each other, and the challenges that come with growing up in a world that doesn’t always accept you for who you are. Through their journey, I learned the importance of self-acceptance and embracing who you truly are, even when it feels like the world is against you. As someone who is part of the LGBTQ+ community, this book resonated with me deeply. It taught me that it’s okay to be vulnerable and to let others in, even when it feels scary. It also showed me the power of friendship and love in helping us find our place in the world. Another book that has influenced me is *The Perks of Being a Wallflower* by Stephen Chbosky. The protagonist, Charlie, is someone who feels like an outsider, someone who watches life from the sidelines rather than living it. His journey through trauma, self-discovery, and healing made me realize the importance of mental health and the impact it has on every aspect of our lives. It encouraged me to be more open about my own struggles and to seek help when I need it. This book has shaped my goal of becoming an advocate for mental health, especially for young people who feel like they don’t have a voice. I want to use my platform to spread awareness and provide support for those who might be going through something similar. The last book I’ll mention is *The House on Mango Street* by Sandra Cisneros. This book is a collection of vignettes that tell the story of a young Latina girl named Esperanza growing up in a poor neighborhood in Chicago. Esperanza’s longing for a better life and her determination to rise above her circumstances struck a chord with me. It made me realize the importance of storytelling and giving a voice to those who are often overlooked or marginalized. This book has inspired me to pursue a career in writing and storytelling, where I can share the stories of people who might not otherwise be heard. I want to use my writing to inspire change, to highlight the struggles and triumphs of those who are often forgotten, and to remind people that everyone’s story matters. In conclusion, the books I’ve read have taught me invaluable lessons about self-acceptance, mental health, and the power of storytelling. They’ve shaped my goals and aspirations, driving me to become an advocate for those who need a voice, and inspiring me to share the stories that matter. I hope to use what I’ve learned to make a difference in the world, one story at a time.

Essay: My Passion for Theater My name is Sarah Austin, and for me, theater isn’t just an art—it’s a family. It’s the one place where I feel truly safe and free to be myself, especially as a young LGBTQ+ person. In a world where it can sometimes feel like you have to hide who you are, theater gives me the space to let go and just be me. It’s where I can express everything I’m feeling, and where I know I’ll be accepted no matter what. What makes theater so special is the heart and soul that everyone puts into it. It’s not just about memorizing lines or hitting the right notes; it’s about pouring everything you’ve got into a role and bringing a story to life. Whether you’re on stage or behind the scenes, you’re part of something bigger than yourself. You’re creating a world where people can escape, even if it’s just for a second, and that’s something truly magical. When I’m in the theater, I feel like I’m part of a second family. The cast, the crew—everyone is there for each other, supporting one another through every high and low. We share laughs, tears, and everything in between. And that sense of community, of being surrounded by people who understand and care, makes all the difference. It’s like we’re all connected by this invisible thread, each of us contributing something unique and important to the final production. Theater has always been a safe space for me, a place where I can explore different aspects of myself and my identity without fear of judgment. As someone who’s still figuring out who I am, being part of a community that celebrates diversity and encourages self-expression is so important. It’s in the theater that I’ve found my voice, learned to stand tall, and embraced every part of who I am. I’ve played characters who’ve taught me about resilience, love, and courage—qualities that I carry with me off the stage as well. There’s something about the energy of a live performance that’s unlike anything else. The way the audience reacts, the connection you feel with your fellow actors, the electricity in the air—it’s exhilarating. But it’s not just about the spotlight. It’s about the stories we tell, the emotions we evoke, and the impact we leave on the people watching. Theater has the power to make people feel, to make them think, and to bring them together in a way that few other things can. Pursuing theater is about more than just performing for me. It’s about being part of a family, a community where everyone is accepted for who they are. It’s about putting your heart and soul into something that makes a difference, even if it’s just for a moment. Theater has helped me find myself, and I’m passionate about it because it allows me to be exactly who I am—unapologetically, and without fear. It’s where I belong, and where I feel truly alive.
      GUTS- Olivia Rodrigo Fan Scholarship
Essay: The Soundtrack to My Heartbreak When I first heard Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS, it felt like someone finally understood what I was going through. The lyric that hit me the hardest was from “Making the Bed”: “I got the things I wanted, it’s just not what I imagined.” It felt like Olivia was speaking directly to me, especially after my first heartbreak. We dated for three years, from middle school into my freshman year of high school—a time when everything feels intense and forever. When it ended, it was like my whole world shattered. I thought I had everything I wanted—a relationship that made me feel special, loved, and understood—but in the end, it wasn’t what I imagined at all. Being a teenager is supposed to be about figuring out who you are, but it’s also full of contradictions. You’re trying to discover yourself, but you’re also trying to fit in and meet everyone else’s expectations. That’s exactly how I felt in my relationship. We started dating when I was in middle school, and at first, it was everything I thought I wanted. We were the “it” couple, the ones everyone talked about, and that made me feel important, like I finally mattered. But as we transitioned into high school, I realized that being “the couple” was all we had left. We were growing up, but we weren’t growing together. I wanted more than just the label—I wanted something real, something that made me feel alive. But by then, we were so wrapped up in each other that I couldn’t tell where he ended, and I began. Olivia’s lyric perfectly captures the confusion and disappointment that comes with realizing that what you thought was perfect isn’t. You spend so much time building this idea in your head of what a relationship, or even just life as a teenager, should be like. But when reality doesn’t match up to those expectations, it’s devastating. That’s what happened to me. I spent three years imagining a future with him—us going to prom together, meeting each other’s families, maybe even going to the same college. But when it ended, I had to let go of all those dreams. It felt like losing not just him, but a part of myself. What I’ve learned from that heartbreak, and what Olivia’s GUTS helped me understand, is that growing up means accepting that not everything you want will make you happy. Sometimes, you get exactly what you thought you needed, and it still doesn’t fill that empty space inside you. Being a teenager is about making mistakes, feeling like your world is ending, and then somehow finding the strength to start over. I never imagined I would have to rebuild my life without him, but in doing so, I discovered a strength I didn’t know I had. Olivia’s GUTS isn’t just an album for me; it’s a reminder that I’m not alone in feeling this way. It’s proof that heartbreak is something we all go through, and even when it feels like the end of the world, it’s really just the beginning of something new. The lyric “I got the things I wanted, it’s just not what I imagined” helped me realize that it’s okay for things to not turn out the way you thought they would. Because sometimes, what you imagine isn’t what you need. And in the end, that’s what growing up is all about—letting go of what you thought you wanted and finding the courage to embrace what comes next.
      Chappell Roan Superfan Scholarship
Chappell Roan’s music came into my life when I needed it the most. Being a young LGBTQ+ person in a world that sometimes feels like it doesn’t understand you can be really isolating, and I often felt like I was on my own. But when I discovered Chappell’s music, it was like finding a safe place where I could finally breathe and just be myself. Her song “Pink Pony Club” was the first one I heard, and it was like nothing I’d ever experienced before. It’s so much more than just a song—it’s an anthem for anyone who’s ever felt different or like they don’t belong. The way Chappell sings about embracing who you are, no matter what, hit me so hard. I remember listening to it on repeat, feeling the lyrics wrap around me like a hug, telling me that it was okay to be me, that I wasn’t alone. What makes Chappell Roan special is how raw and honest she is in her music. She doesn’t shy away from singing about the things that matter to her, and that kind of vulnerability gave me the courage to start accepting myself. Her music isn’t just about catchy beats or cool melodies—it’s about connection, about saying the things we sometimes can’t find the words for ourselves. Through her songs, I felt seen, like she was singing directly to me, reminding me that there’s nothing wrong with who I am. I support Chappell Roan’s career not just because her music is amazing (which it totally is), but because she’s using her voice to create a space for people like me. In a world where it’s so easy to feel lost or invisible, she’s out there being unapologetically herself, and that’s something I really admire. She’s proof that you can be true to who you are and still make it, that you don’t have to change or hide to find success. Chappell’s music has been there for me on my worst days, the days when I felt like I couldn’t handle being different, being me. Her songs gave me the strength to keep going, to believe that things can get better, and to find pride in who I am. Supporting her is my way of saying thank you, of giving back even a little of the love and hope she’s given me. Her music isn’t just something I listen to—it’s a lifeline, a reminder that I’m not alone in this world. I know I’m just one of many who feel this way, and that’s why I’ll always support Chappell Roan. She’s not just making music; she’s making a difference.
      Once Upon a #BookTok Scholarship
My ideal bookshelf would be a mix of love stories, horror, and indie books, all inspired by the #BookTok community that I'm totally obsessed with. #BookTok has this crazy way of taking books that would’ve been totally under the radar and making them the talk of everyone’s FYP, and that influence has definitely shaped what I want in my personal collection. Let’s dive into the must-haves. First on my shelf would be *The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo* by Taylor Jenkins Reid. This book is all over #BookTok, and for a good reason. It’s the kind of love story that isn’t just about romance but also dives deep into themes like fame, identity, and the struggles of being true to yourself in a world that wants you to be something else. Evelyn’s journey through her marriages and the secrets she keeps is both glamorous and heartbreaking, making it a perfect example of how love isn’t always straightforward. The way #BookTok has rallied around this book proves how much people love a complex, emotional story, and it’s definitely a must-have for anyone who’s into love stories with depth. Next up would be *It Ends with Us* by Colleen Hoover. If there’s one book that screams #BookTok, it’s this one. Colleen Hoover has a way of writing that just hooks you in from the start, and this book, in particular, has been a massive hit for its intense emotional ride. It’s not your typical romance—it’s raw, real, and deals with heavy issues like domestic abuse and the cycle of toxic relationships. #BookTok has had countless discussions about the impact of this book, and many readers have shared how it’s changed their perspectives on love and strength. Having this on my shelf would be a reminder of the power of resilience and self-worth. Switching gears, I’d need to add *Mexican Gothic* by Silvia Moreno-Garcia for some spine-chilling horror. #BookTok has praised this book for its unique blend of horror and historical fiction, set in 1950s Mexico. It’s dark, atmospheric, and the kind of horror that creeps up on you, rather than relying on jump scares. The book tackles themes like colonialism and eugenics, which adds an extra layer of depth to the already haunting story. The #BookTok community has helped bring this indie horror novel to the forefront, proving that horror doesn’t have to follow mainstream formulas to be utterly terrifying. Finally, for the indie vibe, *The Song of Achilles* by Madeline Miller is a must. This book isn’t just a retelling of a classic myth—it’s a beautifully written love story between Achilles and Patroclus that feels so personal and intimate, you’ll forget you’re reading about ancient Greek heroes. #BookTok has exploded with love for this book, especially because of how it portrays LGBTQ+ relationships in such a tender and tragic way. The impact of this book on the #BookTok community has been massive, with many readers feeling seen and represented in ways they hadn’t before. It’s a perfect blend of indie vibes and epic storytelling, making it a staple for any bookshelf. In conclusion, my ideal bookshelf is a reflection of the diverse, emotionally charged, and thought-provoking books that #BookTok has introduced to me. From the complicated love lives of Evelyn Hugo and the characters in *It Ends with Us*, to the eerie horror of *Mexican Gothic*, and the epic romance of *The Song of Achilles*, these books have left a mark on both the #BookTok community and me personally. They’re the kind of books that not only entertain but also make you think, feel, and see the world in new ways.
      Billie Eilish Fan Scholarship
Billie Eilish has this way of taking feelings we all have and putting them into words and music that just hit different. My top three Billie Eilish songs aren’t just bangers—they’re like therapy sessions set to music. Here’s why they resonate with me so deeply: ### 1. **"Happier Than Ever"** This song is seriously an anthem for anyone who’s had to deal with fake friends or people who just suck the life out of you. The first time I heard it, I was going through this thing where I realized that someone I thought was close was actually super toxic. The way Billie’s voice goes from soft and sad to that intense scream towards the end? It’s exactly how it feels when you’re trying to hold it together but can’t anymore. That buildup of emotion until you just have to let it all out is something I can totally relate to. It’s like she captured the exact feeling of finally breaking free from people who were only dragging you down. "Happier Than Ever" is my go-to when I need to remind myself that cutting off toxic relationships is a form of self-care. ### 2. **"Skinny"** So, I don’t think this song is as well-known, but it hits so close to home for me. I recently lost some weight, and it’s wild how differently people treat you. What’s messed up is that even though I’m the same person inside, suddenly I’m getting more attention and people act like I’m more valuable or something. "Skinny" totally captures that frustrating realization—that our society is so obsessed with appearances. When Billie sings about feeling more visible but not more comfortable, I feel that deeply. It’s a weird experience to go through, realizing that some people only see you for what’s on the outside, and it makes you question everything. This song helps me remember that my worth isn’t defined by how I look but by who I am. ### 3. **"I Love You"** Loving someone is terrifying, and "I Love You" puts that fear into words so beautifully. There’s always that part of you that’s scared it’s all going to fall apart, that you’ll get hurt or things will just go wrong. But at the same time, there’s also that deep, raw emotion that makes you want to say, "I love you," even if it feels like you’re jumping off a cliff. This song speaks to that part of me that’s terrified of being vulnerable but also craves connection. It’s like Billie knows exactly how scary it is to love someone and how you feel like you’re walking on a tightrope between happiness and heartbreak. Every time I listen to it, it reminds me that loving people is worth the risk, even if it doesn’t always work out. These songs resonate with me because they’re not just catchy—they’re real. Billie Eilish captures those complicated, messy feelings we all have but sometimes don’t know how to express. Whether it’s dealing with fake friends, feeling judged for how you look, or the fear of opening up to someone, her music just gets it. That’s why these songs are my top three—because they make me feel seen and understood.
