I have always enjoyed creating and working with my hands. I find manufacturing -specifically welding- to be extremely interesting and rewarding, I love being able to look at a quality product and know that I made or had a part in making it. Welding and manufacturing give me opportunities to create and constantly learn. I wholeheartedly believe that any sort of engineering or technical trade is fantastic for creative individuals who want to improve the world with the work they do, and I’m very proud to be part of it.
I’ve taken interest in several different directions after graduation, but the amazing thing about manufacturing is that I could honestly pursue any or all of them. Robotic welding specifically has caught my interest, I have an absolute blast programming the robot and seeing my program perform. Since the world gears more and more toward automated processes everyday robotics also seems like a very secure career path. I would love to get my CRAW certification in the future when I meet the requirements to do so.
I have also been presented with an opportunity at my current workplace to move up into a quality/CAWI position once I finish my degree. I’ve realized that quality is about much more than just the weld or the part itself and I enjoy knowing that it’s a much bigger scope. Quality ensures that a customer is happy with their final product, and therefore continues a company’s progress

Bold Creativity Scholarship
As technical as manufacturing is, it’s also an extraordinarily creative field. I am in the Welding Technology program at my college and the more creative I get solving problems that I run into, and thinking of projects to make, the more I have fun and find this field of study interesting. For instance, I was able to repair my dad’s mountain bike that broke in two places and he thought he would have to throw it out, and later made a storage container for his bikes. Once I have the space to get machines and equipment of my own I would absolutely love to make my own metal art and possibly start my own business.
I also apply creativity in other aspects of my life, I love to create art - digital and traditional- and do so whenever I have the time. I am also an avid player of Dungeons and Dragons and have been for the past seven years. The world building and imagination that the game requires demands creativity and out of the box thinking.
