My name is Santiago fonseca and I’m an 18 year old Latino High School student from Rochester, New York. I live in a low-income household with my single parent and four siblings, and growing up in this situation has shaped the way I see life and what I want for my future. Money has always been tight, space is limited, and life at home can get chaotic, but these challenges have taught me how to stay focused, patient, and determined. Over the last few years, graphic design has become one of the most important parts of my life. I first got into it out of curiosity, experimenting with different apps and trying to teach myself new skills. Over time, it became more than just something I did for fun. I started learning real techniques, exploring 3D modeling, and pushing myself to get better. Eventually, I even started an online clothing shop where I put my artwork on clothes. It’s something I’m proud of because it shows that I can take an idea and turn it into something real, even without a lot of resources. Balancing school, family responsibilities, and my creative work can be tough. With five kids in the house, it’s hard to find privacy or a quiet place to focus. Sometimes I have to stay up late to finish schoolwork or work on my designs because it’s the only time the house is calm. But even with all these challenges, designing keeps me motivated. It’s something that belongs to me something that helps me express myself and also builds a path toward a future career. I want to study graphic design in college because I know that professional training will help me grow and open new opportunities. I want to learn from people who have experience in the field, build a strong portfolio, and eventually work in a creative environment where I can support myself and my family. But honestly, paying for college is the hardest part. With only one parent supporting all of us, it’s almost impossible to afford tuition, materials, and other expenses without financial help. This scholarship would make a huge difference in my life. It would remove a lot of stress and allow me to focus on school and improving my skills. More than anything, it would help me take the next step toward building the future I’ve been working for. I’m determined, motivated, and ready to make the most out of every opportunity I get.
