Bio

Hi everyone, my name is Sania Robinson. I am the eldest of four siblings and I am in my third year as an undergraduate student pursuing exploratory nursing. I was an early high school graduate in 2021. I also am a Chick-Fil-A Front of House Team Member and employee, and have seniority since 2019. I have recently been accepted into Georgia State’s Bachelor’s of Science Nursing Program. I am inspired by the nursing experience to give back to my community and educate people on taking care of themselves and their health. I want a job that challenges me each day to improve myself and the lives of others. Over the summer, I will be volunteering at AgapeHospice Nursing Home, and intend to earn a nursing internship or healthcare position at a clinic or hospital facility. Prior to the upcoming school year I have volunteered at my church and OurHouseGenesis. Aside from being a scholarly student, I am versatile in dancing. I particularly fancy hip-hop and majorette. I have been a majorette and acrobatic instructor for a couple of years at the Global Academy of Performing Arts and Future Stars and Training Center. I am a self-taught gymnast and occasionally teach kids in my former neighborhood how to tumble. In addition to volunteering I share a dance YouTube channel with a friend I have partnered with to make creative YouTube and dance content. All around I am very athletic, super talented, and intelligent. I am dedicated to being an outstanding and outgoing leader and student. Moving forward my goals are to discover a nursing specialty that suits me and compliments my personality.

    Bold Empathy Scholarship
To be empathetic, I am selfless. I value others' feelings and beliefs. I give second chances and consider being in another person's shoes. I am compassionate when I put my pride aside and view other people's perspectives. I have been empathetic towards my friend and roommate, who shared different religious beliefs other than my own. We discussed our opinions and views on what we believed. However, I did not judge or bash her because we were different. Although I disagreed with what she thought, I respected her and her experiences regarding religion. As a Christian, I could not entirely relate to a life living outside of Christianity. However, I reasoned with my roommate and accepted her disbelief in God. When you disagree with someone, it can be challenging to be understanding. Working consistently in a service environment has taught me to be patient and humble. I work as a front-of-house Chick-Fil-A team member and constantly interact with customers. If a customer is upset or reacts inappropriately to a circumstance, I do my best to resolve their issues. Even when people are not kind to me, I have to treat them nicely and help in the best way possible. Sometimes people are having a bad day, and because of this, I don't want to cause any further complications. A job or any commitment, you make to an establishment means to put others before yourself. I value others' dependence and accountability upon me to show up and do my part. So, when I'm working or part of an important group I will be empathetic towards my team members and people I work with. I listen to those above me even if I don't want to. I also work with people's different personalities and forms of expression. I am there for my team.

Intersectionality is the acknowledgement that each individual experiences their own form of discrimination and oppression for multiple reasons. This has led to challenges all over the world, especially within the workforce. People may begin addressing intersectionality by recognizing that it exists, having a broad perspective about the sources of discrimination, and allowing people to share their own personal experiences. A few problems to say the least that arise due to intersectionality are improper wage gaps, improper treatment due to discrimination, and shifts in the way the work is done. I have gathered that males earn 17.7% of wages more than females. Disabled employees or workers of minority groups are prone to experience unfavourable shifts and treatment among others. For example, a disabled employee is teased and called out to complete tasks because it is perceived he doesn't really do as much work as others anyway. Also, some employees do more than work than others and not offered the privilege of learning or experiencing more in an environment because they perceived as less or not worthy of positions. Issues such as these reveal the lack of intersectionality that should be approached. By addressing intersectionality and not making an assumption that it is acknowledged ensures that others are heard. Often people perceive intersectionality as a specific demographic, but intersectionality ranges from multiple perspectives and contexts such as race, class, and gender. Those who are higher up are being close-minded and not listening to the oppressed groups. Rules and boundaries should be established for all workers and employees at every level and rank. There should be an understanding of tiered privilege and vast discrimination. Although topics within intersectionality may be uncomfortable discussing doesn't mean they should be ignored. By at first being aware and then having others share their personal input makes unfair treatment appear much more visible and easier to resolve. Ideas such as surveys asking for not just the name, but race, gender, and class should determine the types of responses that are made. This should promote the need for more intersectionality. Finally, boundaries and expectations should be made for all employees at every level. More forms of descrimation and lack of inclusion should be reported, and more solutions should be made. Intersectionality is crucial to the best-working environment. People have to be aware of what they don't know and apply their new knowledge to create the best setting for everyone.

Once I was accepted into Spelman College my entire perspective for my future had changed. I was admitted into my dream school which I didn't even deem fathomable until I was accepted. I was even admitted into the honor's program only to be disappointed that I wouldn't even get to be a part of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. This inspires me to work against my financial odds to be whoever I choose and make differences for others to have the opportunities I do not have. My goal is to become an active community leader and motivational speaker. I will advocate for more opportunities to be presented within black and minority communities, and also I would like to create more strategies and policies for preventing diseases and lack of health nationwide. I will earn a bachelor's degree in nursing or become a physician's assistant as a way to work towards this. I find importance in helping my community by being a resource finding ways to practice healthier ways of living and rebuilding environments. I also will create a space for young talented dancers desiring to learn versatile styles of dance. I aspire to be a professional entertainer and choreographer. In this process, I will build my own space for others to learn how to do the same. I want others to have access to become professional artists and performers. Currently, I am an acrobatics and majorette instructor at the Global Academy of Performing Arts. I improve my technique by coming in weekly and personally training myself to become a better dancer. I plan to minor in theatre and join a dance ensemble to also enhance my technique. As I maneuver my way into college I work on earning scholarships to pay my way through college. I also plan to invest in my future by working as a front-of-house employee at Chick-Fil-A. By practicing leadership and mentorship skills I know I am being the best version of myself. I reflect on these past couple of years and I thank God for helping me transition to Georgia from Arkansas. I moved at the end of my sophomore year. I had difficulty adjusting to a new environment, a new social life, and becoming re-involved. I was able to maintain a 4.0-grade point average. I had four advanced placement classes, I was involved in three extracurriculars, and I worked at Chick-Fil-A. Over the course of time, I tackled leadership skills and habits that trained me to a better team member, athlete, and teammate. I became full-time at my job. I graduated early at the age of 17 during a pandemic, and I'm the first to graduate out of all four of my younger siblings. I persisted to make my parents and family proud by exceeding multiple academic accomplishments, and I graduated with honors and with Beta, NHS, and FCCLA cords. I am very proud of the goals I have accomplished and I continue to push further with my dreams and goals. I will show underprivileged children that they can succeed even when life doesn't seem in their favor. Although I may be unable to attend Spelman College this year I will transfer once I am able to work to earn a profitable education.

Anything worth having requires sacrifice. When I had moved to Georgia from Arkansas I experienced difficulty adjusting to a new and unknown environment. However, I eventually overcame my fears, improved social practices, and became very involved in extracurriculars. Leaving family and friends was nerve-wracking. I had never lived in a city as busy as Atlanta, and I felt I would be lonely. I've seen much more diversity in Georgia, and I was not used to meeting as many people from multiple states. Georgia is very fast pace, and I was curious as to how I would fit in, and how I would adjust to a new school given it was the end of my sophomore year. Although, I learned how to follow up mastering academics my social life was complicated. I had to make new friends and meet new people. I was uncomfortable because I didn't like the feeling of starting over. I could not hang out with anyone, and I missed being at home and surrounded by the areas that I knew. I socialized during the class of course, and I began working at Chick-Fil-A. These experiences enabled me to meet new people and improve my social practices. I became even more involved with school clubs, karate, and dance. Ultimately, I wanted to enhance my individuality while in a new space. I overcame a fear that turned out to be very opportunistic for me. By being more involved and getting out of my comfort zone I became recognized as employee of the month at Chick-Fil-A. I became a mediator of the Berkmar School's dance team. I also am an instructor at the Global Academy of Performing Arts for acrobatics and majorette. I embraced my challenges, and I strive every day to be an outgoing and determined individual.

    Wheezy Creator Scholarship
I want to create an embodiment of true identity. I feel the world is so caught up in materialistic ways of living that many people lack self-care and wound themselves up in not knowing who they are. My creation will capture the actual beauty within oneself. Whether this is individualistic personality, character, and talent the creation will present the importance of staying true to one's beliefs, morals, and values. Self-care is essential to a person's well-being. Forms of self-care may include having a regular sleep schedule, having a healthy diet, a person spending time on their lonesome, or a person taking pride in their outer appearance. Many people fail to succeed at these simple tasks. Rather than prioritizing themselves they idolize others by centering attention towards people's different lifestyles in which they try and copy. For example, as an active student and senior in high school I recognized how I always tried to compete with my fellow classmates not to better myself, but to be better than others. I cared more about being the smartest and appealing to people with multiple qualities. However, I often felt empty inside. By focusing upon others and what people thought of me I was not able to focus on myself. This caused me despise what I was actually good at. This unhealthy mindset caused me to be a perfectionist and be very self-critical. I realized I would change my attitude about myself. This would cause self-reflection, self-affirmations, and finding joy in what made me happy and accomplished. This is what my creation would help do. My creation would help individuals like me that feel lost or feel like they owe themselves to the world. It would allow people to reflect on their inside parts and their outer parts looking into glimpses of their experiences and the person they may have never acknowledged before. Whether a person is broken emotionally or had someone discourage them in the past in any way my creation would help resolve this. The creation would have components designed to heal people and see themselves for who they are truly made to be. A person would practice finding their passions, what they truly love, and where they would see themselves. People seeing this creation would result finding answers they never dared to ask and venture out to fulfill their purpose. That is why the creation is so vital for the world to see. The world may finally realize that no one is perfect and no person is in competition with another. Rather than coveting, making stereotypes, and undermining people's successes people may support one another as everyone discovers who they are and where they are meant to be. Some people's lifestyles may deem greater or better, but there is always something and my creation will both reflect the imperfections and positive notes to appreciate. This would allow more people to stick together and re-define the social norm. My goal for my creation is to create a new meaning of what it is to be accepted. This is not just by others but within oneself. By doing so people can do the work to take care of themselves and be intentional throughout their involvements and interactions with others.
