I have just recently lost a friend and a cousin within 5 days apart from mental illness. Both individuals died from suicide. Mental illness is real and needs immediate intervention and attention. I believe that we need to go old school and put our boots to the ground. We need to get out in the community and have awareness picnics and social gatherings that provide information and possible on the spot treatment options. We need to get involved quickly as possible so that we can save our families and friends. Among the African American families many families are suffering from mental illness and causing suicidal death. Deaths from mental illness and suicide are on a rise. This is very sad and alarming. I find it very difficult sometimes to focus. My father was murdered by gun violence in 2018. I have had a hard time battling with depression sometimes. My mom is very encouraging and supportive she always prays for me and with me. I feel that it’s important that we get the word out about JESUS CHRIST AND GET MORE PEOPLE SAVED AND HEALED! GOD is a healer! We need GOD! God is still in control and on the throne working behind the scenes. As mentioned earlier in this very scholarship God knows the plans that he has for each of us! I want to be on board and get the news out that GOD is listening! We need to all get together and let anyone who is suffering know that they have options. It’s unfortunate that in the black community we are led to believe that if we get help professionally we are crazy. I have a Newsflash if you are unwilling to get help it may just be to late. We are all just passing by. I’m aware that this is not our eternal home and that we are born to die. I feel however that we can live with longevity if we start living with a purpose. I’m not trying to preach, however the Bible states that those who are without a vision will Parrish. I feel that just like we go to the doctor for our physical health we need to make sure we are also aware of our mental health. Some people are in denial of their mental health. As a community we have to get back to the basics and realize that it really does take a village. I’m going to leave on the note of We Have Work To Do! We Must Get Involved And Active ASAP! Thanks
