Our Destiny Our Future Scholarship
My field of interest is Engineering, and I wish to specialize in Electrical Engineering. I chose this career path due to the direction the world is heading. I am passionate about making a change and helping the world by working to create, innovate, and sustain newer and cleaner sources of energy, preserving our planet for many generations to come. My inspiration for this career choice comes from my father. He has always been my role model, demonstrating a strong work ethic and a commitment to improving the world around us. Although he is an Electrical Technician and not an Engineer due to his circumstances growing up, his perseverance and commitment have always inspired me. I am fortunate enough to have opportunities he did not. I believe in the power of Engineering to solve the problems of this world, and I intend to make full use of the opportunities that my father and mother have sacrificed to provide for me. I aim to follow in his footsteps, contributing to advancements that ensure a sustainable future.
To be more specific on where and how I plan to create a positive impact, I wish to work for a renewable energy power plant, which is why I am planning to specialize the Power Engineering, falling under the Electrical Engineering umbrella. The company I wish to work for is the one that my father worked diligently under for 20 years, PROMAN. They are an energy generation company, and though they do use natural gases to generate the energy they produce, they are now making the shift toward renewable technology.
My desire to work for PROMAN is mainly fueled by my goal of contributing to a society that is still healthy and thriving for generations to come, but, my other reason for wanting to work for them is to follow in my father's footsteps. As mentioned above, he has always been my role model, and has sacrificed so much for my brother and I. Coming from the island of Trinidad, and being a first generation college student, these aspirations are lofty, but like my dad always said to me, "The sky is the limit." As such, I want to do something, and be apart of something great in my lifetime, something that will make myself and my parents proud. With the support and sacrifices of my family, I am determined to make a meaningful impact in the field of engineering and help shape a better world for future generations.

My ability to be light-hearted and amusing is one of the many qualities I possess that I believe inspires my peers the most.
Being in high school, we as students are always faced with new stresses and obstacles, so I always try to be light-hearted. I know there are negative effects to comedy and sarcasm, so I am careful with what I say, and I always try to read the room to make sure that my humor is not made in a time of seriousness. I have found that, humor has a unique ability to reduce tensions and bring people together. When I use comedy in a situation, it helps my peers feel more relaxed and open. This trait has proven helpful in both personal and professional situations, where the ability to lighten the atmosphere can result in more productive and enjoyable encounters.
Knowing when and how to use humor effectively is one of the most important factors. This awareness ensures that my humor is always friendly and never hurtful. Additionally by being considerate of the diverse backgrounds and perspectives of my peers, I use humor to bring people together. Moreover, my easy-going attitude makes me more approachable. My peers know they can come to me with their concerns, and I will listen with an open mind and offer a supportive, positive perspective.

Book Lovers Scholarship
"Meditations," by Marcus Aurelius is a timeless classic that is a great read. It is a book that shows many insights and offers a unique perspective and meaning of life. It is a deep and insightful book, and it portrays the thought process and mindset of Marcus, the Roman Emperor at the time, and prominent stoic.
The book is well known for the ways in which it shows Marcus' perspective, and the way in which it has helped to change the perspective of many who have read it. In the book, Marcus as the emperor of Rome faces many challenges, and the book recounts how he thinks about these challenges and handles the parts of his life that he can and can't control. The book is a genuine life story. It does not just recount his triumphs in life, but also his failures and mistakes, which enhances the quality of the book.
"Meditations" itself is not a coherent story, but a personal journal of Marcus, and it was never meant to be published for the world to read. It was simply a place for him to write down his ideas and clear his mind. For me, that is what makes this book unique and worth the read. It is in a class of its own, due to the book's unedited nature. Moreover, the reason why this book fascinates me is because it has weathered many centuries and yet it is still a prominent and popular book in the world today, giving insight to the way of life and point of view of the people of that time.
Fall Favs: A Starbucks Stan Scholarship
Personally speaking, I love coffee, and without it, I know that I would be unable to make it through some days, but, there is not a specific fall-inspired drink from Starbucks that holds a special place in my heart. However, my go-to type of coffee is generally straight black coffee.
The person who I attribute to introducing me to coffee is my dad. Ever since I was a young kid, I have always been by my dad's side, helping him with everything, and often we would wake up early and he would make both himself and me a coffee. Then, we would start whatever task we needed to complete. To this day, whenever we have anything to do, my dad still makes me a coffee if he is making one for himself.
Over time, as I have made many visits to Starbucks and other coffee stores, I have tried many different variations that coffee can be prepared, such as Frappuccinos, Hot Coffee, Iced Coffee and more. But as of right now, my favorite way to have a coffee prepared is as a tall, black iced coffee, perfect for a warm day, or a cool afternoon.
I find that there is something special in the simplicity of black coffee in my opinion and I truly believe that it is an amazing beverage, that is good for someone just trying to get their day started or someone looking for a mid-day boost.
I have met many who say to me that black coffee tastes bitter and is hard to enjoy when prepared in this way, but, truthfully, I appreciate it for the taste of the coffee beans and how they were roasted. I think the medium roast is the one that I find to suit my liking - it isn't too bitter or too mild, in my opinion, I find it to be just right. This makes it perfect for when I am in a rush, to get out of the house in the morning, or if I just need something to sip and enjoy as I rock on the swing in our backyard watching the sunset with my family or while reading a book.
I would also like to say, that though I have been to many places that serve coffee, even with homemade coffee, they always fall short in comparison to Starbuck's. The coffee is made to perfection, and brewed from great-tasting coffee beans.
