My ambition for getting good grades is not the only evidence of my dedication to pursuing an education. Not only have I been on Armijo’s Honor Roll all four years of high school, but I am also one of the salutatorians for the Class of 2026. My motivation and integrity are qualities that I think make me very well prepared to attend a 4-year university and study mechanical engineering. Mathematics has been my favorite subject for the past couple of years and I wanted to pursue it in a way that would let me apply it to create actual change. This year, I have been enrolled in IB Environmental Systems and Societies, a class that merges scientific, ethical, and political perspectives to study environmental issues. I knew that the current environmental situation of the world has not been doing so well, but I didn’t understand how dire immediate change was needed. Which is why I want to study mechanical engineering with a focus on renewable energy. I want direct involvement in restoring natural systems and focusing on how to make energy more sustainable.
