Bio

I am passionate about Academics, Soccer, and Philanthropy. Through achieving a 4.0 GPA, I am able to attend the University of Redlands in 2021 with a double major in Liberal Studies & Public Policy. I have played soccer competitively since I was 5 years old. Through my hard work and commitment to soccer, I am able to plan competitively at the University of Redlands and be a student athlete. I am passionate about young kids and saving animals. In the future, I would like to get my Masters in Teaching and pursue a career as a Teacher or work in the Government to help the less fortunate. I would be a great candidate for this scholarship because I am "BOLD" with my passion for Academics, Soccer, & Philanthropy work and I plan on being a role model for the younger youth when I am older and make a difference in the World.

Andrew Perez Mental Illness/Suicidal Awareness Education Scholarship
In the past year my passions have become cultivated around mental issues and how to live life with the difficulties that come with that. During the middle of the pandemic, I become depressed and realized I had been living with anxiety. Once this came to my attention, I realized most people struggle with mental health, whether it comes to real world issues, day to day tasks, or friend drama. Like many teenagers, I worked to educate myself on what is going on around the world and how to accept everyone for who they are. This began to overwhelm me since I became infatuated and struggled with being ignorant within some topics. During this phase in my life, I began to shut out anyone with different opinions since I struggled with confrontation. After a heartbreak later in the year, my depression grew, and I felt completely alone. A few months later I found some motivation in the fact that I was going to college soon and I cannot continue to live a pointless, angry life. I tried to reach out to friends, but I would feel embarrassed and shrug off important, life-threatening details. I watched YouTube videos of people that went through a similar situation and reached out to professionals online. To distract myself and to feel like my life means something, I started working and revolved my life around that. I worked out almost every day, pushing my body to new limits. Once I arrived at college, I was doing something every day which made me realize I was worth something. My goals in life revolve around healthy habits, going out of my comfort zone, and making bigger connections with others. In the future I hope to have a job that I enjoy while also being able to provide for my family.
