My name is Samantha Proctor; I am a sophomore at Lenoir-Rhyne University. I am a member of the teaching scholars program. I am a theatre major and a part of the national theatre honor society. I hope to become an actress or apply as a production crew or manager at a theatre company. I love my friends, family, theater, music, soccer, and many more things. I am very out-going and hardworking. As of right now, I am working as hard as I can to return as a sophomore. I earned 24 credits my freshman year. I worked assisting with costumes and props and was on the run crew for Lr Playmakers 2021 musical (Next to Normal). In 2022 I took part in my first play, "Comedy Shorts." This play was a series of "Comedy Shorts" hence the name. I played three characters and worked on costumes and props. After this, I worked on costumes and props for Lenoir-Rhyne University's "The Little Reid." Every year, a book is chosen for students in elementary school to read. Then they are instructed to write their own story. The stories are then submitted to the author of the book they read. Afterward, the author(s) and the school chooses a winner, and Lenoir-Rhyne puts on a play based on the book the students read. "The Little Reid" is an annual event here. After this short but eventful year, I realized the theatre program is where I truly belong. I would never wish to be anywhere else but this school. To continue enrollment here, I must be able to afford it. Theatre is a very time-consuming major since we have a small department. I still wouldn't wish to be anywhere else.
