For a period of time, I did not have a stable place to call home and couch-hopped until I was eighteen. These experiences taught me lessons that could never be learned from a textbook. I learned how to adapt when everything around me changed. I learned independence when I had no choice but to rely on myself. Most importantly, I learned empathy.
