Don’t worry we can make one! Imagine going to the emergency room for minor chest pains and discovering that your ventricular valve is shredded and it could give out any day now. You have to be put on a transplant list that could take months, but your doctor suggests making you valve with a 3D printer! Being able to make a parts of the body that are crucial for life out of thin air would have been unthinkable 10 years ago. We are now able to give patients a permanent fix to their problems or given them the extra time they need while waiting for something like a transplant. It’s spectacular to think that so many lives can be saved with a printer and is why the 3D printer is my favorite tech invention. I am going to Physician assistant school and I’m hoping that as a PA I will be able to spend time working with new tech like the 3D printer to help the quality and standard of living for patients. I want to try and print implants for patients so they can feel good about themselves and keep their spirits up. There are countless opportunities to be done with such a great technological advancement and I’m hoping to be apart of it.
