Hi there! My name is Saira I am a junior at Fresno Pacific University, majoring in nursing. I am also a first generation student here at Fresno Pacific University. Going into nursing I hope to make a change in the world by providing those in their most vulnerable times, with tender love and care. I am someone who will not just see their patient as another number, I want to be that nurse that reassures and makes sure the patient is well taken care of while still being treated as a human being. Nursing is the one opportunity I get to show my patients how not all nurses just do it for the money, I will be there to make sure they are not only getting well taken care of but respected as a human being. Nursing has been a career I have always wanted since I was very little. My main reason being is due to me seeing how my family member got treated not that great while in medical care. Growing up I was the translator for my mom since she does not know english that very well. Ever since I could translate I helped my mother with my grandfather since his health started declining. From what I could remember I was about twelve years old. I would often go with my mom to the hospital to translate for her and even in the nursing homes where my grandfather stayed at. Seeing how most nurses did not care about my grandfather and just seeing how they treated him like another room number did hurt me. The nurses that took care of him during his final days were not considerate of his state being nor did they care about him overall. Seeing that motivated me to become that nurse that does care for their patients. Not only that but still respected them like I did to everyone else no matter the circumstances. My goal in nursing would be to one day be a travel nurse. This would give me the opportunity to not only travel while working, but as well as get a chance to learn from different hospitals and from other nurses. This will not only teach me so many things but give me a chance to experience working as a team, giving me a chance to gain more experience, and how to work great while in new environments. Nursing I know will not always be easy throughout the career. I know there are times where obstacles become a big role in it, but that i s something I am willing to take on. Especially after gaining experience as a certified nursing assistant and working throughout the peak of covid. Having that background gave me an insight of how nursing is bedside and honestly that was something else that did catch my eye.

Like Cindy I also have a tremendous amount of empathy for others. Which is a main reason why I would love to go into nursing. I have a passion to take care of others, whenever someone in my family is sick I am always checking in on them to make sure they are well taken care of, taking their medicine in the time windows they are supposed to, as well as making sure I keep a close eye on them incase of anything. Overall I just want to make sure they are well taken care of, feel valued, respected, and loved. Nursing I know will not always be easy throughout the career.
