NomineeBio
I’m a mixed-race, disabled, queer, Latino man from Southern California. Despite the adversity I’ve faced and will continue to, I still have hope. I’m focused on building a future that aligns with my dreams. So far, I’m doing well, but I’m not there yet.
I couldn't find my way at traditional high schools; I left after ninth grade. Luckily, instead of dropping out entirely, I started at a community college. With more freedom and rigorous classes, I soared. I graduated early from high school and, by eighteen, I’d completed 4 associate degrees. Now, I’m a few months away from transferring to Columbia University.
I have a love of learning. I’m fascinated by almost every subject, but the unifying purpose that connects all my interests is the belief that I must be of service. My goal is to help as many other people as I can.
After finishing my bachelor’s degree in comparative literature, I plan on studying creative writing. I’m a novelist and I’m in the process of publishing my first book. Through literature, I hope to share my story and my beliefs in equity and human rights for all.
