Program at the University at Albany. With an A+, Rija balances rigorous academics with the responsibility of raising her younger siblings, Jiya and Raza. Her journey is one of resilience, resourcefulness, and relentless ambition—along with humor and creativity that make her a joy to be around. Growing up in a turbulent household, Rija learned the values of responsibility, love, and sacrifice early. These experiences fuel her passion for advocacy and her goal to become an attorney, serving vulnerable populations and fighting for systemic change. She has honed legal research, communication, and organization skills through roles as a paralegal, NYS Senate session intern, and youth court prosecutor.   Mission:

  Started a non-profit organization, now seeking accreditation, which has raised over $7,000 to support unemployed families in Pakistan facing food insecurity and homelessness, especially during the pandemic. Using social media and connections in Oman, we secured funding and purchased groceries for over 200 families. Additionally, I provided employment opportunities for domestic violence victims to assist in distributing the groceries.
