In the passage from Plato’s Allegory of the Cave in The Republic, Book VII, where he states, “Education then, is not what some people declare it to be, namely, putting knowledge into souls that lack it, like sight into blind eyes; but they say that the power to learn is present in everyone’s soul and that the instrument with which each learns is like an eye that cannot be turned from darkness to light unless the whole body is turned,” Plato’s underlying meaning is that true education is not about forcing information into people, but about transforming how they think so they can recognize truth for themselves. Plato believes that every human already has the ability to learn, which challenges the idea that students are empty or incapable without instruction. By comparing learning to sight, Plato shows that the mind naturally has the power to understand, but many people are facing the wrong direction. This means ignorance is not caused by a lack of intelligence, but by attention being placed on false beliefs, habits, or social expectations that block real understanding. When people grow up surrounded by certain ideas, they often accept them without question, and Plato argues that this passive acceptance keeps people in a mental darkness. His metaphor explains that learning requires turning away from these comfortable beliefs, which is not easy. The idea that the “whole body” must be turned shows that education requires effort, struggle, and personal change, not just listening or memorizing. Plato suggests that true learning can be uncomfortable because it forces people to confront ideas that may challenge their identity or worldview. This discomfort explains why many people resist education, not because they cannot learn, but because they do not want to change. Plato also redefines the role of teachers by arguing that they do not place knowledge into students’ minds, but instead guide them toward understanding. This places responsibility on the learner, since knowledge cannot be forced; it must be accepted and pursued. Plato’s argument criticizes education systems that focus only on memorization or repetition, because repeating facts does not guarantee understanding. A student can memorize information and still remain ignorant if they have not changed how they think. Plato believes that education should reshape the mind by teaching people how to reason, question, and reflect. The metaphor of darkness and light represents confusion versus clarity, showing that education is a movement from illusion to awareness. Plato also suggests that sudden exposure to truth can be overwhelming, which explains why learning often happens slowly. Just as eyes need time to adjust to bright light, minds need time to adjust to new ideas. This shows that patience is an important part of education, both for teachers and learners. Plato’s deeper message also connects education to morality, because he believes that understanding truth leads to better behavior. When people see reality clearly, they are more likely to act justly and responsibly. Ignorance, on the other hand, leads people to make decisions based on fear, misunderstanding, or manipulation. Plato implies that many social problems exist because people are uneducated in the true sense of the word. His view suggests that education has a responsibility beyond personal success, because it shapes how individuals contribute to society. A person who has turned toward truth is less likely to be controlled by lies or false authority. Plato believes this kind of education creates better leaders and citizens, because they understand justice rather than blindly following tradition or power. This idea also explains why Plato sees education as a lifelong process, not something that ends after school. Learning requires constant reflection and willingness to change, because new situations may require new understanding. Plato’s message encourages readers to examine their own beliefs and ask whether they are truly seeing reality or simply accepting shadows. His argument is especially powerful because it suggests that many people believe they are educated when they are not, since they confuse information with understanding. Plato challenges readers to think deeply about what it means to know something and whether they are actively seeking truth or passively accepting what they are told. Overall, Plato’s underlying meaning is that education is an awakening of the mind, not a filling of it, and that true learning happens when individuals are willing to turn themselves toward truth, even when that process is difficult, uncomfortable, and life-changing.

I love math because it is like a puzzle that challenges your mind and makes you think in new ways. Every problem feels like a mystery that needs to be solved, and I enjoy figuring out the steps to reach the answer. Math is more than just numbers and equations—it’s about patterns, logic, and problem-solving. I like how it pushes me to think critically and logically, and it teaches me that there is often more than one way to solve a problem. One of the things I find most exciting about math is that there is still so much left unexplored. New discoveries and ideas are being developed all the time, and that makes it feel like math is endless. There’s always something new to learn, a new problem to solve, or a new concept to understand. This makes math feel alive and exciting because it’s not just something in a textbook—it’s something that continues to grow and expand in the real world. I also love how math can be applied to so many areas of life. From technology and science to art and music, math is everywhere. Understanding math helps explain how things work and allows you to solve real-world problems. For example, geometry helps engineers design buildings, algebra can help predict patterns in data, and probability helps make decisions in uncertain situations. Knowing that the skills I learn in math can be used in so many ways makes it even more interesting and valuable. Math also teaches patience and persistence. Sometimes problems are challenging, and it can take time to figure them out. I enjoy working through those moments because it feels rewarding when I finally understand a difficult concept or solve a tough problem. It reminds me that effort and practice lead to growth, not just in math, but in life as well. Overall, I love math because it challenges my mind, encourages creative thinking, and allows me to explore endless possibilities. It’s like solving a puzzle that is constantly changing and growing, and it gives me the satisfaction of understanding something that seemed impossible at first. Math inspires me to think critically, stay persistent, and keep exploring, and that is why it has become one of my favorite subjects.

I grew up in a household that sometimes felt unstable, and my experiences have shaped who I am today. When I was in seventh grade, my parents got into a serious fight that eventually led to them separating. As the oldest child, this was especially difficult for me because I felt like I had to grow up faster than I was ready for. I had to take on responsibilities that my younger siblings couldn’t handle, try to keep peace at home, and also deal with my own emotions. It was overwhelming at times, and I often felt like I was carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders. The experience left me emotionally affected, but it also taught me lessons I wouldn’t have learned any other way. Even though my parents eventually got back together, the separation still left a dent in my life. It was hard to process everything that happened. I went through anger, sadness, confusion, and even fear, and it took a while to understand how to cope with all of it. But as difficult as it was, going through that experience helped me understand my emotions better. I learned that being mature doesn’t mean ignoring how you feel; it means recognizing your feelings, thinking through them, and acting responsibly even when life is hard. I realized that I could handle situations that I might not have thought I could before, and that gave me confidence in myself. This experience also helped me develop empathy and a deeper understanding of others. I realized that everyone has struggles that may not be visible. Just like I was dealing with my own family challenges, other people have personal battles that affect how they act or respond. Learning this made me more patient and understanding with my friends, classmates, and family. I also understood that conflict is a part of life, and while it can be painful, it can teach important lessons about communication, forgiveness, and resilience. One of the biggest realizations I had during this time was that challenges don’t have to define you—they can shape you into a stronger person. Taking on responsibilities at a young age taught me discipline and accountability. Supporting my family emotionally made me more compassionate and aware of how important it is to be present for others. Dealing with my own emotions taught me self-awareness and the importance of expressing yourself in healthy ways. All of these lessons continue to influence the way I approach life, school, and relationships today. Ultimately, growing up in a household with challenges has taught me resilience, empathy, and emotional awareness. While it wasn’t easy, it helped me learn more about myself and understand others in a deeper way. I’ve learned to take responsibility, face difficulties head-on, and maintain hope even when things feel uncertain. These lessons have helped me grow into a more mature, understanding, and determined person, and I know they will guide me as I continue to grow and pursue my goals in life.

I am a fan of Wicked because it has everything I love about musicals—amazing music, vibrant colors, incredible dancing, and real magic on stage. From the moment the curtain rises, you are pulled into a world that feels completely different from reality. The costumes and lighting are so bright and creative that it feels like stepping into a storybook. Every scene is full of energy, and the way the actors sing and dance makes it feel alive. The music in Wicked is one of the reasons I love it the most. The songs are emotional, powerful, and full of meaning. They make you feel the characters’ emotions and help you understand their struggles and dreams. I especially like how the music shows that everyone has a story and a reason for the choices they make, which is something I connect with. I also love the magic of the show. The stage effects, flying scenes, and clever illusions make it feel like anything is possible. It reminds me why I love theater and musicals in general—the way a story can come to life in such a colorful and exciting way. Wicked inspires me to appreciate creativity, imagination, and the art of performance. It’s a show that makes you feel happy, amazed, and moved all at the same time, and that’s why it’s one of my favorite musicals of all time.

Mental health has always been a big part of my life, and it’s something I’ve had to work hard to understand and manage. There were times when I struggled with anxiety, stress, and feeling overwhelmed. Some of these challenges were connected to my family life, school pressures, and personal experiences. At certain points, I even felt like I couldn’t handle everything on my own. While I have never personally struggled with substance abuse, I have seen friends and family members go through it, and it opened my eyes to how deeply mental health and substance use can affect someone’s life. Seeing them struggle made me more aware of how important it is to care for yourself, recognize when you need help, and seek support. Through these experiences, I have grown a lot personally. I’ve learned to speak up when I’m feeling overwhelmed instead of keeping things bottled up. I’ve also learned that it’s okay to ask for help and that doing so doesn’t make you weak—it makes you human. Support can come from many places, including friends, family, teachers, or counselors, and reaching out is one of the most powerful ways to take care of your mental health. Learning to manage my anxiety and stress has taught me patience, resilience, and the importance of self-care. I’ve learned techniques like deep breathing, mindfulness, journaling, and organizing my time to reduce stress, and these tools have helped me maintain focus in school and in my personal life. My experiences have also shaped my educational goals. I want to pursue a degree in a field where I can help others who struggle with mental health and substance abuse. I want to become a counselor or therapist because I know how life-changing it can be to have someone to talk to, someone who listens without judgment, and someone who provides guidance and support. My goal is to create safe spaces for people to share their experiences and find strategies to cope with their challenges. I want to use what I’ve learned about resilience, growth, and mental health to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Continuing to manage recovery and maintain mental health is a priority for me. My plan is to keep building healthy routines and habits that support my well-being. This includes setting aside time for self-care, staying physically active, maintaining supportive relationships, and using stress management techniques that have helped me in the past. I also plan to continue seeing counselors or mentors when I need guidance and being open about my feelings rather than avoiding them. Recovery and mental health management are ongoing processes, and I understand that it takes commitment, patience, and self-awareness. I’m ready to take that responsibility seriously and continue growing as a person. In conclusion, my experiences with mental health challenges and witnessing substance abuse in others have shaped who I am today. They’ve taught me the importance of support, resilience, and self-awareness. These experiences have inspired my educational goals and my desire to help others navigate mental health and recovery. I am committed to continuing to manage my mental health, using the tools I’ve learned, and dedicating my life to helping others do the same. These challenges have been difficult, but they have also given me purpose, and I am determined to make a positive impact on the world while continuing my personal growth.

I want to make a change in my life because I want to be better than my parents and create opportunities for myself that they didn’t have. I know they did the best they could, but I want to take my life in a different direction by pursuing higher education and building a career that allows me to help others. My first goal is to get a college degree because I know it will open doors for me and give me the tools I need to make a positive impact in the world. I want to prove to myself that I can achieve more than I thought possible and inspire others, including people in my family, to reach for their dreams too. So far, I have taken steps toward this goal by focusing on my education, staying involved in school activities, and preparing for college. I work hard to get good grades, manage my time, and stay disciplined even when things are challenging. I’ve also been involved in clubs and volunteer work because I want to develop skills that will help me in my future career. These steps are helping me build a strong foundation for college and for the life I want to create for myself. Every small effort I make now brings me closer to my dream of graduating and becoming someone who can make a difference. This scholarship will help me because I come from a low-income family, and financial barriers make it harder to afford college. With this support, I can focus on my studies instead of worrying about how I will pay for tuition, books, or other expenses. It will give me the opportunity to fully dedicate myself to learning and preparing for a career that allows me to support others emotionally and mentally. This scholarship is not just financial help—it’s an investment in my future and in the impact I hope to have on other people’s lives. My plan to pay it forward is to use my degree to help people with mental health issues. Mental health is something I care deeply about because I’ve seen how much a little support can change someone’s life. I want to be a person others can rely on, whether it’s through counseling, mentoring, or creating programs that make mental health resources more accessible. I hope to inspire others to reach their goals just like I am trying to reach mine. By helping others, I can make a positive impact and show that the opportunities I’ve been given can create a ripple effect, helping more people than I could ever imagine. In conclusion, I want to make a change in my life to be better than my parents and build a future where I can help others. I’ve worked hard to prepare for college, and this scholarship will bring me closer to achieving my goals. Once I reach them, I plan to pay it forward by supporting people with mental health needs and inspiring others to believe in themselves.

Challenge Name: The Trust Tower The Trust Tower is a brand-new Love Island challenge that tests both the Islanders’ teamwork and their ability to trust each other. The challenge takes place on a giant inflatable tower in the middle of a pool. The tower is made up of several levels, each with a different obstacle. Islanders have to work together to climb the tower, complete tasks, and reach the top before the other team does. The challenge begins with the Islanders split into two teams. Each team starts at the bottom of the tower and has to carry a set of “Trust Tokens” up the tower. The tokens are lightweight balls, but the catch is that they can only carry one at a time. If a token drops into the water, the team has to go back and start with that token again. This makes teamwork really important because one person messing up could cost the whole team time. Once the teams reach the second level, there’s an obstacle course. Islanders have to cross moving platforms, swinging ropes, and slippery slides to get to the next stage. This part of the challenge tests balance and coordination, and it’s even harder because teammates have to help each other without losing their tokens. They might have to hold each other’s hands, give instructions, or support someone who is nervous. Communication is key here, and Islanders who argue or don’t trust each other will struggle to complete the obstacle. The final stage is at the top of the tower. Here, there’s a puzzle made of giant blocks. The blocks are numbered, and the team has to put them in order from 1 to 10 to unlock the “Victory Chest.” The Victory Chest contains rewards like a romantic dinner, spa day, or extra time in the villa with a partner. This final stage tests mental skills, focus, and how well the Islanders can stay calm under pressure after all the physical activity. The Trust Tower is exciting because it combines physical challenges, mental puzzles, and relationship dynamics. Viewers get to see which couples really trust each other and which ones struggle under pressure. It also creates drama, teamwork moments, and fun, suspenseful action. Islanders who communicate well and support their partners will succeed, while teams that argue, drop tokens, or panic will have to watch the other team win. Overall, the Trust Tower is a challenge about trust, teamwork, and staying focused while under pressure. It’s competitive, fun, and shows which Islanders can really rely on each other. It’s guaranteed to be a fan favorite because it’s full of laughs, spills, and heart-pounding moments that bring out the best—and worst—in the contestants.

I am a fan of Sabrina Carpenter because she represents confidence, independence, and girl power. Her music and her career have had a huge impact on me because she shows that women don’t need to rely on anyone else to feel strong or important. Her songs are empowering, and they help me feel like I can stand up for myself and value my own worth. Listening to her, I realize that men don’t define me, and that confidence comes from within. I think that’s such an important message for everyone, especially young girls like me. Sabrina Carpenter has a way of expressing real feelings in her songs, and I connect with them because they are honest and relatable. Some of her songs talk about love, heartbreak, and relationships, but they always focus on self-respect and knowing your value. For me, that’s really powerful because I’ve had experiences where I felt like boys or men didn’t respect me, and it made me question myself. Listening to Sabrina, I feel encouraged to put myself first and not let anyone else’s opinions control how I see myself. Her music is like a reminder that confidence and independence are more important than trying to please someone else. I also admire how hard Sabrina works and how she has grown in her career. She started acting at a young age and then became a singer-songwriter, which shows how much dedication and talent she has. Watching her succeed makes me want to work hard for my own goals, no matter what challenges come my way. It’s inspiring to see someone my age—or even younger than some adults—taking control of her life and career while staying true to herself. Sabrina doesn’t let other people define her, and that’s something I want to emulate in my own life. Her career also makes me feel part of a bigger movement of girl power. Sabrina isn’t just singing about confidence; she is living it. She encourages girls to be independent, speak up for themselves, and understand that their worth is not defined by boys or men. That message has had a personal impact on me because I’ve experienced situations where I felt undervalued or ignored by guys, and her songs remind me that I don’t need validation from them. I feel stronger and more confident because of her music and the way she presents herself to the world. Overall, Sabrina Carpenter has inspired me to embrace my confidence, value my independence, and understand the importance of self-respect. She teaches that women don’t need anyone else to define them and that confidence is powerful. Her music has helped me personally by reminding me that I am worth more than how others treat me, and it makes me proud to support girl power. I admire her not only for her talent but for the message she shares with her fans. She has shown me that being confident and independent is something to celebrate, and that lesson will stay with me for the rest of my life.

The performance of Taylor Swift that I find the most moving is her Eras Tour. There are many reasons why this performance stands out to me, but the biggest one is how it brings people together. Music already connects people, but seeing thousands of fans from different places and backgrounds come together to celebrate her songs is amazing. The energy in the crowd, the excitement, and the way everyone sings along creates a sense of unity that feels really special. It’s more than just a concert—it’s a shared experience where people can feel connected to each other and to the music in a way that’s hard to describe. What makes the performance even more impressive is how Taylor manages to sing and dance through so many songs. She has such a huge collection of music, and every song has its own emotion, story, and meaning. Watching her move from one song to another while keeping up with choreography and stage changes is honestly mind-blowing. It shows not only her talent but also her dedication. She puts her heart into every note, every movement, and every word she sings. It’s inspiring because it reminds me that achieving something great requires focus, hard work, and creativity. Taylor’s ability to do all of this at once makes her performance feel magical and unforgettable. Another reason this performance is so moving is her lyrics. Taylor writes songs that tell stories, and hearing them live makes them even more powerful. Some songs are about heartbreak, some are about love, and some are about growing up, and she makes each one feel real and emotional on stage. It’s like she’s sharing a part of herself with the audience, and it makes you feel understood even if you’ve never met her. Her words connect with people because they are honest and relatable. That’s what makes her performances more than entertainment—they’re emotional experiences. I also admire how creative the Eras Tour is. Taylor doesn’t just sing; she tells a story with her performance. The costumes, lights, stage setup, and the way she interacts with the audience all work together to make the concert feel like an adventure through her career. She celebrates every “era” of her music, from her early country songs to her latest hits, and it’s amazing to see how much she has grown and evolved as an artist. It makes you appreciate her journey and the effort she’s put into her career over the years. Finally, this performance inspires me because it shows what passion and dedication can achieve. Taylor Swift has been in the spotlight for years, yet she continues to create performances that move people and bring them together. Watching her reminds me that if you love what you do and work hard at it, you can create something meaningful and memorable. Her performance teaches more than musical talent—it teaches resilience, creativity, and the power of connecting with others. In conclusion, the Eras Tour is the most moving performance for me because it combines unity, emotion, creativity, and hard work. Taylor Swift doesn’t just sing songs; she creates an experience that inspires people, makes them feel understood, and celebrates her journey. She is more than just a singer—she is a genius performer who brings people together and leaves a lasting impact on everyone who watches her.

Over the past few years, I’ve tried to help people around me with their mental health in any way I can. I listen to my friends when they’re upset or stressed, and I try to be someone they can talk to without feeling judged. I also make sure to be kind and supportive in my clubs and on my sports teams, so people feel safe and included. Sometimes just knowing someone cares can make a big difference, and I’ve seen how important it is to check in on others and offer help when they need it. In the future, I want to use my studies and career to help even more people with their emotions. I’m interested in a field like counseling or psychology, where I can learn more about how the mind works and how to support people when they’re struggling. I want to not only listen but also teach people ways to handle stress, anxiety, and other challenges in healthy ways. I also want to make spaces where people feel safe talking about their feelings without worrying about being judged. Whether that’s at school, in the community, or at work, I want people to feel like they can reach out for help. I believe that supporting mental health is about both helping people through hard times and creating a positive environment where everyone feels respected and valued. I’ve learned that even small things, like checking in on a friend or just being there to listen, can really matter. I want to keep doing that in my career and in my life, helping others feel supported, understood, and less alone.

One of the most significant losses I have experienced in my life was losing my grandpa. He was someone I deeply admired and looked up to, and his presence in my life brought comfort, guidance, and love. Losing him was incredibly difficult, and it left a space in my life that could never be replaced. His passing made me realize how precious life is and how quickly things can change, and it has shaped the way I live and the goals I have for my future. My grandpa was more than a family member he was a mentor, a friend, and a source of wisdom. He taught me lessons about kindness, hard work, and perseverance that I still carry with me today. I remember the times he would encourage me to try my best in school, support me when I faced challenges, and remind me to treat others with respect. Losing him made me feel a deep sense of grief, but it also inspired me to reflect on the values he taught me and to try to live my life in a way that honors his memory. Experiencing this loss has shaped who I am by helping me appreciate the importance of family, relationships, and compassion. I have learned that life is fragile, and I cannot take time or people for granted. This understanding has influenced the way I interact with others—I try to be more patient, supportive, and understanding because I know how quickly moments can pass. Losing my grandpa also taught me the importance of resilience. Grieving was hard, but it pushed me to find strength within myself and focus on the positive memories and lessons he left behind. This experience has also influenced my goals and outlook on life. I want to make the people I care about proud by working hard and making a meaningful impact in the world. Losing my grandpa reminded me that life is short, and it motivated me to use my time wisely by pursuing my education and preparing for a future where I can help others. It has encouraged me to consider a career in psychology because I want to help people cope with challenges, understand their emotions, and find hope even in difficult times. I want to be someone who provides guidance and support, much like my grandpa did for me. Overall, losing my grandpa has had a lasting impact on my life. It has taught me the value of family, the importance of kindness, and the strength that can come from difficult experiences. It has shaped my outlook on life by reminding me to be grateful for the people around me, to work toward my goals, and to make a positive difference in the lives of others. While I will always miss him, his lessons and the love he shared continue to inspire me every day. Losing my grandpa was painful, but it has also made me more determined, empathetic, and focused on building a future that honors his memory and the impact he had on my life.

My parents’ struggles with addiction and their personal challenges have had a major impact on my life and the way I view the world. My mom struggled with drug addiction, which led to her losing custody of me and created emotional and mental challenges for me as I was growing up. My dad struggled with alcoholism for a period of time, and while he was able to straighten out eventually, his past still left a mark on my life, contributing to anxiety and uncertainty. Both of my parents did not graduate from high school, and because of this, we lived on a low income for much of my childhood. Growing up in this environment was not easy. I learned from a young age that life can be unpredictable and that people may face challenges that are out of their control. Watching my mom struggle and dealing with the consequences of her choices taught me about the realities of addiction, pain, and loss. It also shaped the way I think about mental health. I realized early on that difficult experiences can leave emotional scars, and it’s important to recognize and address them. My experiences made me more aware of my own mental health and motivated me to learn coping strategies to manage anxiety and stress. Even though my dad was able to get his life on track, the challenges we faced as a family influenced my perspective on responsibility, resilience, and determination. I saw firsthand how addiction and low income can limit opportunities, and this pushed me to work harder in school and focus on building a better future for myself. My parents’ experiences taught me the importance of education, perseverance, and making thoughtful choices, because I want to create a life that is different from the one they experienced. I want stability, opportunities, and hope for myself and my future family. These experiences also inspired my career goals. I plan to pursue a career in psychology because I want to help people who struggle with mental health, addiction, and emotional challenges. I want to use what I have learned from my own life to guide others toward healthier coping strategies, understanding, and support. I want to show people that even if they have faced challenges like mine, they can still find hope, healing, and purpose. The loss of my mom in my life, the struggles my dad faced, and the financial challenges we endured have shaped my character and my goals. They taught me resilience, empathy, and determination. I have learned to take responsibility for my life, stay focused on my education, and work toward a future where I can make a difference. While my parents’ struggles caused challenges and hardships, they also inspired me to become someone who can help others and create positive change in the world. Overall, my parents’ struggles and the impact they had on my life have given me both perspective and motivation. I am determined to use my experiences to pursue higher education, overcome obstacles, and build a future where I can help others who face similar challenges. Their struggles remind me that while life can be difficult, it is also possible to rise above circumstances and create hope and stability for yourself and others.

Mental health is extremely important to me as a student because it affects every part of my life, from learning in the classroom to building relationships and pursuing my goals. When students struggle with anxiety, stress, or depression, it can make focusing on schoolwork, participating in activities, and even interacting with friends and family much harder. I know from my own experiences that mental health challenges can feel overwhelming, and they can make it difficult to believe in yourself or stay motivated. That’s why I believe it is so important for students to prioritize their mental health and for communities to provide support and understanding. As a student, I have faced challenges with anxiety and stress that have impacted my daily life. Learning to manage these feelings has taught me the importance of coping strategies like staying organized, setting goals, and altering negative thought patterns. Mental health is important to me because it is the foundation for success and well-being. If my mind is healthy, I am able to focus on school, maintain positive relationships, and prepare for my future. Mental health also matters because it affects how we treat others. When students and community members are struggling, showing understanding, patience, and empathy can make a huge difference in their lives. I advocate for mental health in my community by raising awareness and encouraging open conversations. At home and in my family, I try to support my younger siblings and relatives by listening to their feelings and reminding them that it is okay to experience stress or anxiety. I encourage them to talk about their emotions instead of keeping them bottled up. I also volunteer at my church, where I help mentor younger students. Through these activities, I try to model empathy and understanding while teaching coping strategies that can reduce stress and promote mental well-being. In my school community, I support mental health by encouraging peers to be open about their struggles and by reminding them that they are not alone. I help create an environment where students can feel safe asking for help, whether it is from friends, teachers, or counselors. I also advocate for small but meaningful habits that improve mental health, like staying organized, practicing self-care, and speaking positively to yourself and others. By sharing what I have learned from my own experiences and being an active listener, I hope to normalize conversations about mental health and show that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Overall, mental health is important to me as a student because it allows me to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. It helps me stay focused, manage challenges, and be a supportive friend and community member. Through my family, church, and school, I advocate for mental health by encouraging open conversations, modeling healthy habits, and supporting others who may be struggling. I believe that by promoting mental health awareness and empathy, I can help make my community a more understanding, supportive, and positive place for everyone.

Something unique about me is my deep motivation to use my experiences and passions to help others, especially in the area of mental health. Growing up, I have faced challenges that have shaped who I am and who I want to become. Being raised in a blended family taught me resilience and empathy. Sometimes I felt left out or struggled to feel connected with my mom the way my siblings do, and I also faced the challenges of anxiety and stress. These experiences could have held me back, but instead, they inspired me to grow, become stronger, and focus on helping others who might be going through similar struggles. I have learned to turn challenges into motivation, and that mindset is something that sets me apart. My motivation for seeking higher education is driven by both my personal experiences and my career goals. I want to pursue a career in psychology because I am passionate about helping people understand their emotions, cope with challenges, and improve their mental health. I want to create safe spaces for individuals to feel heard and supported, and I want to educate others about healthy coping strategies and breaking the stigma surrounding mental health. Education is the foundation I need to accomplish this goal. It will give me the knowledge, skills, and credentials to make a lasting impact on individuals and my community. I am determined to use every opportunity in college to grow as a professional and as a person so I can reach as many people as possible with my future work. I am proud of the ways I contribute to my community and school. I volunteer at my church, where I mentor younger students and help organize programs that encourage growth, learning, and emotional support. I have also taken part in school projects and activities that promote teamwork and leadership. My experience with mental health has strongly influenced my beliefs, my relationships, and my career aspirations. Learning about mental health, especially anxiety and depression, has changed the way I see myself, the people around me, and the world. It has taught me that struggles are not always visible and that everyone deserves patience, understanding, and compassion. Through my experiences, I have learned that mental health is just as important as physical health. I used to think that feeling anxious or overwhelmed meant something was wrong with me, but I now understand that these feelings are part of being human. This realization shaped my belief that no one should feel ashamed for struggling or needing help. Mental health challenges do not define a person’s worth. Instead, they show how strong someone is for continuing to move forward despite difficulties. These beliefs have also affected my relationships. Because I understand how mental health can impact people, I try to be more patient and supportive with friends, family members, and classmates. Instead of judging others quickly, I remind myself that I may not know what they are dealing with internally. Mental health awareness has helped me become a better listener and a more compassionate person. I make an effort to check in on people, encourage honest conversations, and remind others that it is okay to ask for help. As a result, my relationships have become deeper and more meaningful because they are built on trust and understanding. My experience with mental health has also played a major role in shaping my career aspirations. I want to pursue a career in psychology because I want to help others understand their emotions and develop healthy ways to cope with challenges. I am especially passionate about supporting people who feel misunderstood, overwhelmed, or alone. I want to create safe spaces where individuals can talk openly about their struggles without fear of judgment. In my future career, I hope to help break the stigma surrounding mental health by educating others and encouraging early support. I want to teach coping strategies such as organization, positive thinking, and self-care, and help people recognize that healing is a process that takes time and patience. My goal is not only to help people manage their mental health but also to empower them to believe in themselves and their ability to grow. Overall, my experience with mental health has shaped who I am and who I want to become. It has taught me empathy, resilience, and purpose. These lessons guide the way I treat others, the goals I set for my future, and the career path I hope to follow. By using my experiences and education, I hope to make a positive impact and help create a world where mental health is understood, respected, and supported.

I am passionate about psychology and the ways it allows us to understand human behavior, emotions, and mental health. From a young age, I have been curious about why people think, feel, and act the way they do. This curiosity has inspired me to explore psychology as both a science and a tool for helping others. Psychology combines critical thinking, research, and problem-solving, all of which are essential skills in STEM. I want to contribute to this field by using my knowledge to improve mental health, support individuals, and create a positive impact on society. Being a young woman interested in psychology is especially meaningful to me because I want to show that girls can excel in scientific fields that require research, analysis, and critical thinking. STEM is not only about technology or engineering—it is about asking questions, solving problems, and understanding the world. Psychology allows me to combine these skills with empathy and compassion. By pursuing psychology, I hope to inspire other young women to explore STEM in fields they are passionate about, even if those fields focus on human behavior, social science, or mental health. Diversity in STEM brings new ideas and perspectives, and I want to contribute my voice and perspective to the field. Throughout my education, I have worked to develop the skills necessary to succeed in psychology. I enjoy problem-solving, analyzing data, and understanding patterns in behavior. I have also volunteered at my church and in my community, helping young people and peers who struggle with stress or emotional challenges. These experiences have shown me how mental health and STEM intersect—through research, understanding human behavior, and finding practical solutions to improve well-being. They have also taught me the importance of communication, empathy, and collaboration, which are just as important as scientific knowledge in psychology. My goal is to use psychology to make a positive impact on my community and beyond. I want to help people better understand their thoughts and feelings, develop coping strategies, and improve their mental health. I am especially interested in mental health education and prevention, teaching people skills to manage anxiety, depression, or stress before they become overwhelming. By applying the tools of psychology, I hope to create programs, resources, or support systems that make mental health care accessible and empowering. Psychology gives me a way to contribute to STEM by combining science, research, and human understanding to solve real-world problems. This scholarship represents an opportunity to join a community of women who share my passion for STEM and curiosity for learning. Being part of this community would allow me to connect with mentors and peers, share ideas, and gain guidance as I continue my educational journey in psychology. It would also give me the encouragement to pursue research and hands-on experiences that prepare me to make meaningful contributions in the field. In conclusion, my interest in psychology has shaped my academic goals and my desire to make a positive impact on the world. By combining curiosity, scientific thinking, and empathy, I hope to advance mental health understanding and support individuals in need. I am committed to using my education and career in psychology to help people, inspire other young women in STEM, and contribute to a future where mental health is valued and accessible to everyone.

Education has always played a huge role in shaping my goals and giving me a sense of direction in life. Growing up, I saw that not everyone in my family had the opportunity to complete their education. My parents never graduated high school, but they always pushed me to work hard, stay focused, and aim higher than they were able to. Because of this, I realized early on that education is not just about learning facts or getting good grades,it is about creating opportunities, building confidence, and preparing for a future where I can reach my full potential. I want to use the opportunities I have to achieve goals they could not and to make a life that will not only benefit me but also inspire others in my family and community. School has given me a sense of purpose and direction. It has allowed me to discover my interests, particularly my passion for understanding people and helping them with mental health. Through classes, volunteering, and personal experiences, I realized that I want to pursue a career where I can make a positive impact on others. Education has shown me that knowledge is a tool I can use to improve myself, achieve my goals, and help people who may be struggling. Without education, I would not have the foundation I need to follow my dreams or create a path that is meaningful and fulfilling. However, my journey has not been without challenges. Growing up in a blended family presented emotional struggles that sometimes felt overwhelming. Even though my family loves each other, it was difficult to feel like I fully belonged at times. I noticed that my siblings sometimes had closer connections with my mom, and it hurt to feel left out. Sometimes words from my younger sibling would unintentionally hurt me, leaving me feeling broken or invisible. I also faced personal challenges with anxiety, which made focusing on school and planning for the future feel even more difficult. Balancing the responsibilities of school, family, and personal growth often required more patience and resilience than I felt I had. Despite these challenges, education became a source of stability and hope. It gave me structure during times when life felt chaotic and a sense of control over my future. I learned to develop coping strategies, such as staying organized, setting small goals, and maintaining a routine. These habits allowed me to overcome obstacles and continue moving forward, even when it was tempting to give up. Over time, I discovered that the struggles I faced at home and personally did not have to hold me back, they could actually motivate me to work harder, stay focused, and pursue my dreams with determination. Education has also taught me important values, like responsibility, discipline, and empathy. I learned that success is not just about intelligence or talent, it is about showing up, putting in effort, and using what you have learned to help yourself and others. I have seen how education can empower people to make better choices and improve their circumstances. This understanding inspires me to make the most of every opportunity I have, both in school and beyond. My future goals are deeply connected to what I have learned from education and my personal experiences. I hope to pursue a career in psychology, where I can help people understand their emotions, cope with stress and anxiety, and improve their overall well-being. I want to create safe spaces where people feel heard, valued, and supported. I want to educate others about healthy coping strategies and help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health. Education has given me the tools to pursue this path, and I am determined to use what I learn to create a positive impact in the lives of others. Education has also motivated me to break cycles and build a legacy for my future family. I want my children to see the importance of learning, hard work, and perseverance. I want them to have someone to look up to, someone who demonstrates that challenges can be overcome and that determination can lead to success. I want to use my education to not only improve my own life but also to show others; family, friends, and my community that growth is possible with effort, patience, and support. In addition to helping myself and my future family, I want to use my education to make a difference in my community. Volunteering at my church and mentoring younger students has shown me how powerful support and encouragement can be. I have seen that when people feel valued and understood, they are more likely to succeed and give back in return. I hope to continue volunteering and helping people while pursuing my career, creating environments where individuals feel supported and empowered. Overall, education has shaped my goals, strengthened my resilience, and given me a sense of purpose. It has shown me that knowledge, combined with determination, can open doors that might otherwise remain closed. It has also taught me that challenges are not permanent roadblocks, they are opportunities to learn, grow, and become stronger. I am committed to using my education to create a better future for myself, my future family, and the people I am able to help through my career. My experiences have taught me the value of perseverance, compassion, and growth, and I hope to carry these lessons with me throughout my life, making a positive impact wherever I can.

My faith in God has played an important role in my life and has helped shape who I am today. Through both good times and difficult moments, my relationship with God has given me hope, comfort, and direction. Knowing that God loves me and has a plan for my life gives me strength when I feel uncertain or overwhelmed. There have been times in my life when things felt confusing or hard, and my faith helped me stay grounded. When I struggled with fear, stress, or doubt, turning to prayer helped calm my mind and remind me that I was not alone. Believing that God is always with me, even during challenges, helped me push forward instead of giving up. God has already done so much for me, and reflecting on His faithfulness reminds me that I can trust Him with my future. My faith has also taught me important values that guide the way I live my life. Through my relationship with God, I have learned the importance of kindness, forgiveness, patience, and humility. These values influence how I treat others and how I respond to difficult situations. Faith has helped me understand that everyone deserves love and compassion, just as God shows unconditional love to me. Having faith has shaped the way I make decisions about my future and my career. I believe that God has given each person unique gifts and talents, and I want to use mine to help others. My faith encourages me to choose a career that serves people and makes a positive difference in the world. When I feel unsure about my path, I trust that God will guide me in the right direction and open doors at the right time. In my future career, my faith will help me remain hopeful and resilient. Life and work will not always be easy, but trusting God will help me stay focused and motivated. Faith will remind me to treat others with respect and understanding, especially when I am working with people who may be struggling. I want to be someone who listens, encourages, and leads with compassion, reflecting God’s love through my actions. My faith will also help me stay grounded during success. I believe that every achievement is a blessing, and I want to remain thankful and humble. Remembering that God has guided me every step of the way will keep me focused on serving others rather than just personal success. Overall, my faith in God has given me hope, strength, and purpose. It has helped me overcome challenges and believe in myself, even when I doubted my abilities. As I move forward in my education and career, I know my faith will continue to guide me, support me, and inspire me to live a life that reflects love, service, and gratitude.

Being raised in a blended family has had a big impact on who I am today and on the goals I have for my future. While my family has love and support, growing up in a blended household has also come with challenges that shaped my perspective on relationships, parenting, and the kind of life I want to create one day. Living in a blended family showed me early on that family life is not always simple. There were moments when I felt different from my siblings, especially when it came to my relationship with my mom. Watching my siblings have a closer connection with her sometimes made me feel left out, and there were times when their words or actions hurt more than they probably realized. As a child, it was hard to understand why things felt uneven or why I felt like I did not fully belong in the same way. These experiences made me feel broken at times, even though I tried not to show it. However, being raised this way also taught me important lessons. I learned resilience, emotional strength, and empathy at a young age. I became more aware of how words affect people and how small moments can leave lasting impressions. Because of this, I try to be more careful with how I treat others and how I speak to them. I never want someone to feel invisible or unwanted the way I sometimes did. This upbringing has strongly influenced my future goals, especially when I think about family and relationships. One thing I know for sure is what I do not want for my future children. I want them to feel secure, heard, and equally loved. I want to be present in their lives and make sure they never question their place in the family. The struggles I experienced motivate me to break that cycle and create something healthier and stronger for the next generation. Even though I am still figuring out my exact career path, I know I want to use my talents to help people. My experiences have given me a deep understanding of emotional pain, family dynamics, and the importance of connection. I want to be someone who supports others, especially those who feel overlooked or misunderstood. Whether through a career in mental health, community service, or another helping profession, I want my work to make people feel valued and seen. I imagine a future where I use my compassion, patience, and understanding to do good in the world. I want to create safe spaces for people to talk about their struggles and feel accepted for who they are. Even if I do not yet know exactly where my path will lead, I am confident that my experiences have prepared me to help others with honesty and care. Being raised in a blended family was not always easy, but it shaped me into someone who cares deeply about others. It taught me what matters most, what I want to change, and how I hope to build a better future, both for myself and for the people I will one day help.

My experience with mental health has strongly influenced my beliefs, my relationships, and my career goals. Learning about mental health, especially anxiety and depression, has helped shape the way I see the world and the way I treat others. It has taught me that everyone is fighting a battle that may not be visible and that kindness and understanding matter more than judgment. Growing up, I noticed how common mental health struggles are, even though people do not always talk about them. I saw friends, family members, and people in my community deal with anxiety, stress, and emotional pain. These experiences helped me understand that mental health is just as important as physical health. Because of this, I believe strongly that no one should feel ashamed for struggling or needing help. Mental health challenges do not define a person’s worth—they are part of being human. My beliefs have also affected my relationships. I try to be more patient, supportive, and understanding with the people around me. Instead of judging others quickly, I remind myself that I may not know what they are going through. Mental health awareness has helped me become a better listener and a more compassionate friend. I have learned how important it is to check in on others, encourage open conversations, and remind people that it is okay to ask for help. These lessons have strengthened my relationships and helped me build deeper connections with others. Mental health has also influenced my career aspirations. I plan to pursue a career in psychology because I want to help people understand their emotions, cope with challenges, and improve their overall well-being. I am passionate about helping others feel heard and supported, especially those who feel alone or misunderstood. I want to be someone who creates a safe space where people can talk openly about their struggles without fear of judgment. Through my future career, I plan to make a positive impact by promoting mental health awareness and breaking the stigma surrounding it. I want to educate others about healthy coping strategies, such as organization, positive thinking, and self-care, and show that healing takes time and patience. I also want to encourage people to take care of their mental health early, before challenges become overwhelming. In addition to my career goals, I try to make a difference now by being supportive in my community. Whether through volunteering, helping at church, or simply being there for someone who needs to talk, I believe small actions can have a big impact. Sometimes just reminding someone that they are not alone can make all the difference. Overall, my experience with mental health has shaped who I am and who I want to become. It has taught me empathy, strength, and purpose. I hope to use my education and future career to help others find hope, understanding, and healing, and to make the world a more compassionate place for everyone.

My “Pie in the Sky” dream is to become a psychologist who helps people improve their mental health and live happier, more fulfilling lives. It is a dream that inspires me every day, and while it feels big and sometimes out of reach, I know that with hard work, dedication, and persistence, it is possible. I want to use my career to make a difference in the world, helping people understand themselves, cope with challenges, and find hope in difficult situations. This dream was sparked by the experiences I have had observing people struggling with mental health challenges and seeing how much of an impact support and guidance can have. I have seen friends, family members, and community members face anxiety, depression, and stress, and it opened my eyes to the importance of mental health. I realized that so many people are afraid to ask for help or feel judged for their struggles, and I wanted to be someone who could change that. Volunteering at my church has also played a role in shaping this dream. Through mentoring younger students and helping with youth programs, I have seen how encouragement and understanding can make a real difference in someone’s life. These experiences inspired me to imagine a career where I could reach even more people and help them navigate their challenges. To reach this dream, I know I will need to take many steps. First, I will need to focus on my education and earn a college degree in psychology. This will give me the knowledge and skills necessary to understand mental health conditions, develop effective treatment strategies, and provide guidance to others. I also plan to take advantage of opportunities for volunteering, internships, and mentorships so I can gain experience and learn from professionals in the field. These experiences will help me grow both personally and professionally, preparing me to handle the challenges of this career with confidence and compassion. In addition to education and experience, I know that perseverance and resilience will be essential. Becoming a psychologist requires dedication, long-term effort, and the ability to stay committed even when things feel difficult. I plan to continue developing habits like organization, goal-setting, and self-care to make sure I stay focused and balanced as I work toward my dream. I also want to continue practicing empathy and understanding, both in my personal life and in my future career, because connecting with people and showing compassion is central to helping them succeed. Ultimately, my “Pie in the Sky” dream is about more than a career,it is about making a positive impact on the lives of others. I want to help people improve their mental health, overcome obstacles, and feel understood and supported. I want to inspire hope and show that no matter what challenges someone faces, there is always a path forward. This dream motivates me every day, and I am ready to take the steps necessary to turn it into reality, one goal at a time.

The person who has had the biggest impact on my life is my dad. He never graduated high school, but he has always pushed me to do my best and reach for goals he wasn’t able to achieve himself. His life and the lessons he has taught me have shaped who I am today and motivated me to work hard in school, in my community, and in everything I do. Growing up, I saw my dad work hard every day to provide for our family. He has had to face challenges and setbacks, but he never let those stop him from doing his best for us. Even though he didn’t have a formal education, he always encouraged me to value learning and never give up on my dreams. He would remind me that education is a way to open doors and create opportunities, and he made sure I understood that I could accomplish anything I set my mind to if I was willing to work for it. What has impacted me the most is the way my dad taught me responsibility and determination. He never let me slack off or settle for less than I could achieve. Whether it was schoolwork, sports, or volunteering, he held me accountable and encouraged me to stay focused. Because of his guidance, I have learned to be disciplined, set goals, and follow through, even when things feel difficult. His example has taught me that hard work and perseverance are more important than natural talent or easy success. My dad has also taught me the value of integrity and honesty. He always emphasizes doing the right thing, even when no one is watching, and this has shaped the way I treat others. I try to live by his example, showing kindness, respect, and responsibility in my daily life. His influence has made me want to be a better person, not only for myself but also for the people around me. The lessons my dad has taught me go beyond school and work, they are about life. He showed me the importance of never giving up, appreciating the opportunities I have, and always striving to do better. He has inspired me to pursue higher education, set goals, and work toward a future where I can succeed and also help others. In conclusion, my dad has had the biggest impact on my life because of his encouragement, guidance, and example. He taught me the value of education, hard work, responsibility, and integrity. Everything I do is influenced by the lessons he has shared with me, and I hope to honor his impact by continuing to strive for success, setting a positive example, and one day being someone my future family can look up to, just as I look up to him.

My name is Ryleigh Ramsey, and I am passionate about helping people live healthier and happier lives. From a young age, I have been interested in understanding why people think and feel the way they do, and how mental health affects every part of life. I have seen firsthand how mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, or stress can make daily life more difficult for people, and this has inspired me to pursue a career in psychology. My goal is to use my education to make a positive impact on the world by supporting others, spreading awareness about mental health, and teaching people how to take care of themselves emotionally and mentally. One of the experiences that shaped my desire to help others was volunteering at my church. Through youth programs, community events, and mentoring younger students, I have seen how much encouragement, support, and guidance can impact someone’s life. Many young people struggle with stress, self-confidence, and emotional challenges, and being able to provide support and a listening ear has shown me the importance of empathy and understanding. Volunteering taught me that even small acts of encouragement can make a big difference. It also inspired me to think about how I can help people on a larger scale through a career in mental health. I have also learned from my own experiences and observations that mental health is often overlooked. People may feel ashamed to ask for help or think that their struggles are not valid. I want to change that mindset. I plan to educate others about the importance of mental well-being and show them that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. By promoting awareness, offering guidance, and sharing coping strategies, I hope to help people take control of their emotional health and improve their quality of life. In addition to volunteering, my personal experiences with anxiety have taught me valuable lessons in resilience and self-discipline. I have learned the importance of staying organized, setting goals, and managing my thoughts in a positive way. These lessons have strengthened my determination to pursue a career where I can teach others similar strategies to improve their mental health. I also want to create safe spaces where people feel comfortable sharing their struggles and seeking support without judgment. Through my future career in psychology, I hope to make a lasting impact on my community and beyond. I want to help individuals understand themselves better, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to navigate life’s challenges. I also want to work to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health by encouraging open conversations and providing resources for people who may not know where to turn for help. By helping people improve their emotional well-being, I believe I can positively influence families, schools, and communities. Overall, I plan to use my education to inspire, support, and empower others. My experiences volunteering, observing others’ struggles, and learning about mental health have shaped me into a compassionate and determined individual. I hope to make a difference by helping people improve their mental health, understand themselves, and lead happier, more fulfilling lives. I am excited to continue my journey in higher education so I can gain the knowledge and skills necessary to make this vision a reality and leave a positive impact on the world.

The change I wish to see in the world is more kindness and less judgment. Too often, people are judged for how they look, how they speak, what they believe, or the choices they make. Everyone has their own struggles, and it can be really painful to feel left out, unwanted, or judged. I think the world would be a much better place if people took the time to show compassion and understanding instead of criticism and exclusion. Kindness is powerful because it has the ability to make someone’s day, build confidence, and create a positive environment. Even small actions, like offering a smile, listening without interrupting, or including someone who feels left out, can make a huge difference. I have seen how simple acts of kindness can change the way people feel about themselves. When someone feels accepted and supported, they are more likely to succeed, try new things, and give kindness back to others. Judgment, on the other hand, can have the opposite effect. It can make people feel ashamed, isolated, or even afraid to be themselves. I know what it feels like to see others left out or treated unfairly, and it is discouraging and hurtful. No one wants to feel unwanted or invisible. I believe we are all human, and we all make mistakes. We are all learning and growing, and no one deserves to be judged for being themselves. If people showed more understanding, it would help build stronger communities where everyone feels valued. I also think showing kindness and avoiding judgment can create a ripple effect. When one person is treated with compassion, they are more likely to treat others the same way. It can inspire change in families, schools, neighborhoods, and even larger communities. The world could feel safer, happier, and more connected if more people practiced empathy and acceptance every day. In conclusion, the change I want to see in the world is a culture of kindness and understanding, where people are not judged for their differences. We are all human, and it can be painful to feel excluded or unwanted. By choosing kindness and acceptance, we can create communities that empower people instead of tearing them down. I hope to be part of this change by treating everyone with respect, encouraging others, and helping people feel included. Small acts of compassion can lead to big changes, and if everyone made the effort, the world would be a much brighter, more welcoming place for all.

Transverse myelitis has been a challenging part of my life, but it has also become a source of positivity in ways I never expected. When I first learned about it, I felt scared and unsure about what the future would look like. Over time, however, this experience taught me important lessons about strength, patience, and appreciation for life. Instead of allowing it to define me in a negative way, I chose to let it shape me into a stronger and more determined person. One of the biggest positive impacts transverse myelitis has had on my life is the way it changed my perspective. I learned not to take things for granted, especially my health and abilities. Simple things like moving, participating in daily activities, and staying active became things I truly appreciated. This condition helped me slow down and recognize how valuable each day is. It taught me to celebrate small victories and to be proud of progress, no matter how small it may seem. Transverse myelitis has also helped me build resilience. There were moments when things felt difficult or frustrating, but those moments pushed me to become mentally stronger. I learned how to adapt, stay patient, and keep a positive mindset even when things did not go as planned. This resilience has carried over into other parts of my life, including school, relationships, and personal goals. When I face challenges now, I remind myself of what I have already overcome and trust that I can handle whatever comes next. Another positive outcome has been the empathy I have gained for others. Experiencing a medical condition made me more understanding and compassionate toward people who face challenges that may not always be visible. I became a better listener and more supportive friend because I understand that everyone is fighting battles of their own. This has strengthened my relationships and helped me connect with others on a deeper level. Transverse myelitis has also motivated me to take better care of myself, both physically and mentally. I learned the importance of listening to my body, managing stress, and focusing on overall well-being. This awareness has encouraged me to develop healthy habits and prioritize self-care. It has also sparked my interest in mental health and helping others navigate difficult experiences, which has influenced my goals for the future. Most importantly, transverse myelitis has taught me gratitude and inner strength. While it was not an experience I would have chosen, it shaped me into someone who is more patient, determined, and hopeful. I learned that positivity does not mean ignoring challenges, but choosing to grow through them. This condition showed me that even difficult experiences can lead to personal growth and purpose. In conclusion, transverse myelitis has been a source of positivity in my life because it helped me grow stronger, more empathetic, and more appreciative of life. It taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of perspective. Instead of holding me back, this experience pushed me forward and helped shape the person I am today. I carry these lessons with me as I continue to work toward my goals and face the future with confidence and hope.

Education is very important to me because it is the key to building a better future. My parents never graduated from high school, but they have always pushed me to do better and reach my goals. They showed me the value of hard work, determination, and perseverance, and their encouragement has inspired me to take my education seriously. I want to make the most of the opportunities they could not have, and I want to use education as a way to achieve my dreams and create a better life for myself and my future family. Growing up, I noticed that not having role models who had completed their education sometimes made it hard to know what to aim for. My parents worked hard every day to provide for our family, and they made sacrifices to help me succeed. Because of this, I learned that education is not just about grades or schoolwork,it is about preparing for life, building confidence, and creating opportunities. I want to take the lessons they taught me about determination and responsibility and use them to push myself to succeed in high school, college, and beyond. Education is also important because it gives me the tools to help others. Learning about different subjects, gaining critical thinking skills, and developing knowledge allows me to make informed decisions and positively impact the people around me. I want to use what I learn to help my community, inspire others to keep going even when things get hard, and share the lessons I have learned about perseverance and hard work. In the future, I hope to leave a legacy that my children and family can look up to. I want to be someone who shows the importance of education, dedication, and determination. I want my children to see that even if life is challenging, success is possible when you work hard and stay committed. I wish I had more role models to guide me when I was younger, and I hope to be that person for my future family. I want them to have someone to look up to, someone who has achieved their goals through education and perseverance, and someone who encourages them to do better every day. In conclusion, education is important to me because it is the path to opportunities, growth, and success. It allows me to build a future where I can help myself, my family, and my community. I want to leave a legacy of hard work, determination, and success so that my future children and those around me have someone to look up to, just as I wish I had when I was younger. Education is more than school,it is the foundation for the life I want to build and the example I hope to set for the next generation.

One problem I faced that really affected my life was not being able to pay my car insurance. Having a car is important for getting to school, work, and other responsibilities, but when I realized I was falling behind on payments, I knew I needed to come up with a solution. At first, it felt stressful and overwhelming because I didn’t have the money saved, and I wasn’t sure how I could fix it. However, instead of giving up or ignoring the problem, I decided to create a detailed plan to solve it and take control of my finances. The first step I took was identifying the exact amount of money I would need each month to cover my car insurance. I wrote down all my income from work, any money I could save, and my monthly expenses. This gave me a clear picture of what I was earning versus what I was spending, and it showed me that I needed to adjust my habits in order to save enough. Next, I set a specific goal for myself. I decided how many hours I would need to work each week in order to make enough money for my insurance while still covering other essential expenses. I created a schedule to make sure I could meet this goal consistently. This helped me stay accountable because I could track the hours I worked and see the progress I was making toward paying off my insurance. I also looked for ways to cut unnecessary spending. One big area I noticed was fast food. I realized that buying food on the go was convenient, but it added up quickly and kept me from saving enough money. I started planning my meals ahead of time and making food at home when possible. By cutting back on fast food, I could put that money directly into my savings account. To make my plan even more effective, I opened a separate savings account specifically for car insurance. Every week, I deposited a portion of my income into this account. Seeing the money grow over time was motivating and reminded me that my efforts were paying off. I also set reminders to check my progress and adjust my plan if I needed to work more hours or cut back on other expenses. If I had unlimited money and resources, I would take this idea even further. I would create a financial planning app designed for teenagers and young adults who are learning to manage their money. This app would help users track income and expenses, set realistic savings goals, and create detailed plans to cover important bills like car insurance. It would include notifications to remind users when bills are due, tips for saving money on everyday items, and even tools to help users estimate how many hours they need to work to meet their goals. The app would combine education, accountability, and support to help young people avoid financial stress and build good money habits early. Overall, solving my car insurance problem taught me the importance of planning, discipline, and goal-setting. By creating a clear plan, adjusting my spending, working consistent hours, and saving intentionally, I was able to overcome a financial challenge that once felt impossible. This experience showed me that with careful planning and determination, problems can be solved, and it inspired me to think creatively about ways to help others do the same.

Although I do not have diabetes myself, my experiences observing people who struggle with it have had a strong impact on who I am today and the way I view the future. Seeing friends, family members, and members of my community manage diabetes has helped me understand how challenging life can be for someone with a long-term medical condition. I have seen firsthand how it affects not only physical health but emotional and mental well-being as well. This perspective has taught me empathy, patience, responsibility, and the importance of supporting others. Living with diabetes requires constant attention and self-discipline. People with diabetes must carefully monitor their blood sugar, track what they eat, take medications, and manage the stress that comes with worrying about their health. I have witnessed how overwhelming this can be at times. Even small mistakes can have big consequences, which adds pressure and stress to everyday life. Seeing this has helped me understand how resilient and strong people must be to handle these challenges, and it has inspired me to approach my own challenges with the same determination and responsibility. Watching people manage diabetes has also shown me the importance of support and education. Many people need guidance, encouragement, and access to proper healthcare to succeed in managing their condition. When they have these tools, they are more likely to take control of their health and plan for the future. This lesson has shaped the way I view helping others—not just in medical situations, but in life in general. I have learned to offer understanding, encouragement, and patience, rather than judgment, because challenges are not always visible and everyone struggles in different ways. These experiences have influenced the person I am today. I have become more compassionate and understanding, especially toward people facing difficulties that I may not fully experience myself. I have also learned to value the importance of education, knowledge, and planning for the future. Knowing what I do about how challenging diabetes can be has made me appreciate the resources and support systems that make a real difference in someone’s life. It has also inspired me to advocate for others, whether it is helping people in my community, volunteering, or simply listening and offering encouragement. In the future, this perspective will continue to guide me in my goals. I want to use my experiences to make a positive impact on others, whether that is through my career, volunteer work, or personal interactions. I hope to help people understand their challenges, provide support, and show them strategies to succeed. Observing the resilience of people with diabetes has inspired me to turn challenges into motivation, to help others reach their goals, and to create environments where people feel understood and supported. Overall, even though I do not personally have diabetes, knowing people who do has taught me empathy, patience, and resilience. These lessons have shaped the person I am today and will continue to guide my decisions, goals, and future. I hope to use my education and experiences to support others, raise awareness, and help people overcome challenges in their lives, just as I have learned from those managing diabetes every day.

Accessing education is not the same for everyone, and I have learned throughout life that many students face barriers that make learning harder. These barriers can include lack of support, fear of being judged, limited resources, or unsafe environments. While my own educational journey has had challenges, learning about the experiences of transgender and non‑binary people has shown me how much harder school can be when students do not feel accepted or understood. Seeing these struggles has motivated me to want to use my education to help create safer and more supportive spaces for future students. One major struggle in education is feeling like you do not belong. Many transgender and non‑binary students face bullying, discrimination, or misunderstanding from peers and even adults. This can make it hard to focus on learning or feel confident in school. Even small things, like not being respected for who you are, can have a big impact on mental health and academic success. Education should be a place where everyone feels safe, valued, and supported, but that is not always the reality. As I move forward in my education, I want to use what I learn to help change that. By gaining knowledge, awareness, and strong communication skills, I hope to become someone who speaks up for fairness and inclusion. Education gives people a voice, and I want to use mine to support transgender and non‑binary individuals who may not always feel heard. Whether through psychology, education, advocacy, or community work, I want to help create environments where students are respected and supported. I also believe education can help reduce ignorance and fear. When people understand mental health, identity, and diversity, they are more likely to treat others with kindness and respect. I hope to use my education to help educate others, challenge stereotypes, and encourage empathy. Supporting mental health resources, promoting inclusive policies, and encouraging open conversations are ways education can make a real difference. In the future, I want to be part of positive change. I hope to help create systems where transgender and non‑binary people have equal access to education, mental health support, and opportunities. Everyone deserves the chance to learn, grow, and succeed without fear of discrimination. By using my education to support understanding, acceptance, and advocacy, I hope to give future transgender and non‑binary students an advantage, one where they feel safe, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

I love writing because it gives me a sense of freedom and creativity that I don’t find anywhere else. When I write, I can express my thoughts, feelings, and ideas in a way that feels completely my own. Writing is flexible, it allows me to explore different topics, styles, and perspectives without limits. I can write stories, essays, poetry, or reflections, and each one gives me a new way to think about the world. That flexibility is one of the reasons I enjoy writing so much. Another thing I love about writing is how powerful words can be. Words have the ability to influence others, share knowledge, and even inspire change. A well-written essay or story can make someone see a situation in a new way or encourage them to think deeply about an issue. Knowing that my words can have an impact on someone else motivates me to write thoughtfully and carefully. Writing is more than just putting sentences on paper; it is a way to communicate ideas, emotions, and experiences that can connect people and make a difference. Writing also gives me the freedom to explore my own thoughts and expand my knowledge. When I write about a topic, I research it, reflect on it, and learn more than I knew before. Writing allows me to process my experiences and understand the world better. It is both a creative outlet and a tool for learning, which makes it an important part of my personal and academic growth. In college, I plan to continue writing in a variety of ways. I want to take classes that challenge me to experiment with different writing styles and subjects. I also plan to participate in clubs, workshops, or online communities where I can share my work and receive feedback. I hope to use writing not only to improve my skills but also to continue expressing myself and sharing my ideas with others. Whether it is writing essays for classes, stories for fun, or articles to inform and inspire, I know writing will continue to be an important part of my life. Overall, writing is a combination of freedom, flexibility, and power. It allows me to express myself, explore new ideas, and connect with others through words. I plan to continue using writing in college as a way to learn, grow, and make an impact. Writing is not just a skill—it is a way to share knowledge, tell stories, and leave a lasting impression, and I am excited to keep developing this ability as I continue my education.

Throughout my life, I have faced experiences and challenges that have prepared me for the journey toward higher education. One of the biggest challenges I have faced is managing anxiety and depression. There have been times when school, extracurricular activities, or even everyday responsibilities have felt overwhelming. Learning to cope with these feelings has taught me patience, self-awareness, and the importance of seeking help when needed. I have learned strategies like staying organized, setting goals, breaking tasks into smaller steps, and altering negative thinking patterns. These skills have not only helped me manage my mental health but have also prepared me to handle the challenges of college life. In addition to managing my own mental health, I have learned a lot from volunteering at my church. Through helping with youth programs, mentoring younger students, and participating in community events, I have seen how much of a difference support and encouragement can make in someone’s life. These experiences have taught me the importance of listening, empathy, and serving others. They have also inspired me to pursue a field where I can make a positive impact on people’s lives while continuing to grow academically and personally. I plan to study psychology in college because I am passionate about mental health and helping people overcome challenges. This field is important to me because mental health affects every part of life, including school, work, friendships, and family. I want to learn how the mind works, how emotions affect behavior, and how to teach people strategies to cope with stress, anxiety, or depression. Studying psychology will allow me to combine science and empathy to help people understand themselves better and take control of their mental well-being. Through my career, I hope to make an impact in my community and beyond. I want to raise awareness about mental health and reduce the stigma that often prevents people from asking for help. I also want to support children, teenagers, and adults who may be struggling, teaching them coping skills and strategies that can improve their daily lives. By creating safe spaces where people feel understood and supported, I hope to inspire others to prioritize their mental health and make positive changes. Overall, my experiences, challenges, and volunteer work have prepared me for higher education by teaching me resilience, responsibility, and empathy. Studying psychology will allow me to combine these lessons with professional skills to help others, improve mental health awareness, and make a lasting impact. I am excited to continue this journey and use my education to support and empower the people in my community.

Mental health challenges, including anxiety and depression, have affected my life in many ways. There have been times when I have felt overwhelmed, stressed, or unmotivated, and these feelings have made it difficult to focus on school, extracurricular activities, or even daily tasks. Anxiety can make small challenges feel much bigger, and depression can make it hard to feel confident or motivated. At first, these struggles were frustrating and discouraging, but over time, I have learned how to manage them and grow from the experience. Living with anxiety and depression has taught me the importance of self-awareness and healthy coping strategies. I have learned to pay attention to my feelings and identify situations that trigger stress or negative thoughts. One method that has helped me is staying organized—planning my assignments, breaking large projects into smaller tasks, and setting goals for myself. This makes challenges feel more manageable and helps me feel in control. I have also learned how to change my thinking patterns. Instead of focusing on failures or worries, I try to remind myself of my accomplishments and what I am capable of achieving. Talking to trusted friends, family members, and mentors has also helped me cope. Their support reminds me that I am not alone, and it encourages me to keep moving forward even on difficult days. These experiences have shaped my goals for the future. I want to continue learning how to care for my mental health while also helping others who face similar challenges. I am especially interested in pursuing a career in psychology because I want to support people who struggle with anxiety, depression, or other mental health issues. I want to provide guidance, encouragement, and strategies that can help people feel more in control of their emotions and their lives. I also want to help reduce the stigma around mental health by encouraging open conversations and showing that it is okay to ask for help. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and I want to make sure people understand that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Ultimately, my mental health challenges have taught me patience, resilience, and empathy. They have given me insight into how difficult life can be for many people, and they have inspired me to make a positive impact. My goal is to turn my experiences into motivation to help others, to create safe spaces where people feel understood and supported, and to teach strategies for coping and growth. By managing my own mental health and helping others do the same, I hope to make a difference in the world, one person at a time.

My name is Ryleigh Ramsey, and I am passionate about helping people live healthier, happier lives. I have always been interested in understanding why people think and feel the way they do, and how mental health affects every part of life. Because of this interest, I want to pursue a career in psychology, where I can help others improve their mental well-being, cope with challenges, and reach their full potential. I believe that mental health is just as important as physical health, and I want to inspire people to take care of themselves emotionally and mentally. I have learned through my own experiences and through observing others that many people struggle with anxiety, stress, or emotional difficulties. Unfortunately, some people are afraid to talk about these feelings or ask for help. I want to change that mindset. I want to help people understand that it is okay to feel overwhelmed sometimes and that there are strategies to cope with stress, manage emotions, and think positively. Learning these skills can help people gain control over their lives and feel more confident in themselves. One of the biggest influences in my life has been volunteering at my church. Through volunteering, I have had the opportunity to work with people of all ages, including children and teenagers, and I have seen how much support and encouragement can impact someone’s emotional well-being. Whether I am helping with youth programs, community events, or mentoring younger members, I have learned the importance of listening, being patient, and showing compassion. These experiences have strengthened my desire to help people improve their mental health and taught me the importance of providing a safe and supportive environment for those who are struggling. I also want to inspire people to do better for themselves. Mental health affects every part of life, including school, work, friendships, and family relationships. When people take care of their mental health, they are able to focus better, make healthier choices, and build stronger connections with others. I want to be someone who motivates people to take small steps that can lead to big improvements. For example, teaching someone how to organize their schedule, manage stress, or change the way they think about challenges can reduce anxiety and help them feel more capable and confident. Through my education, I plan to learn not only how the mind works, but also how to provide practical tools and support for people who need it most. I want to combine counseling strategies, mental health science, and empathy to help individuals recognize their strengths, face challenges, and develop coping skills. I hope to create safe spaces where people feel comfortable sharing their struggles and can receive guidance without judgment. Mental health is something that affects everyone, and I want to be a professional who empowers people to take control of their emotional and mental well-being. Overall, I want my career to be about helping people live better lives and reach their full potential. My volunteer work at church has taught me the value of compassion, patience, and encouragement, and I hope to carry those lessons into my work as a psychologist. I want to raise awareness about mental health, encourage people to prioritize their well-being, and teach strategies that allow them to thrive. By doing this, I hope to make a lasting positive impact on individuals and communities. Pursuing psychology will allow me to help people overcome challenges, improve their mental health, and lead happier, more fulfilling lives. I am excited to follow this path so I can make a real difference in the world, one person at a time.

Improving the relationship between law enforcement and the African American community is very important. For a long time, African Americans have faced unfair treatment, discrimination, and even violence from police officers. This history has caused fear, anger, and distrust in many communities. To make things better, police officers need to focus on building trust, communicating more with the community, being fair, and working together with local residents. These steps can help create safer neighborhoods and stronger connections between police and the people they serve. One way to improve relationships is for officers to spend more time in the community in positive ways. Instead of only responding to emergencies or crimes, officers should participate in school visits, neighborhood meetings, community events, and youth programs. These interactions allow people to see officers as approachable, caring, and trustworthy. When police officers take the time to listen to residents’ concerns and show that they genuinely care, it can help residents feel safer and more respected. Building these personal connections is an important step toward trust. Training is another critical way to improve relationships. Officers should receive education about bias, culture, and communication. Bias training helps police recognize unconscious thoughts that could affect how they treat people. Cultural awareness training helps them understand the history and experiences of African American communities. Learning communication and conflict-resolution skills can also help officers prevent problems and handle tense situations without making them worse. When officers are trained to be understanding and fair, it can reduce misunderstandings and build respect between the community and the police. Accountability and transparency are also very important. Police departments should have clear rules and systems for holding officers responsible if they make mistakes or act unfairly. Tools like body cameras, civilian review boards, and clear reporting of incidents can show the community that officers are held to high standards. When people see that officers are accountable for their actions, it helps them trust the police more. Finally, law enforcement agencies should work closely with local leaders, schools, and community organizations. By partnering on projects, programs, and events, officers can better understand the needs of the community and build long-term relationships. Working together creates teamwork and shows that police and residents can solve problems together. In conclusion, improving relationships between law enforcement and African Americans takes effort, time, and commitment. Police officers need to spend more time in the community, get training about bias and culture, be accountable for their actions, and work with local leaders and organizations. These steps can build trust, respect, and safety for everyone. Positive relationships between law enforcement and African American communities are possible when both sides are willing to listen, understand, and work together for a safer and fairer society.

Although I do not need a Special Education program myself, my experiences with my younger brother have had a profound impact on how I view education, challenges, and the ways I can make a difference in the lives of others. My brother is in a Special Education program, and watching how he acts, reacts, and faces difficulties has inspired me to pursue higher education or certification training. Through caring for him and observing his struggles, I have learned patience, empathy, problem-solving skills, and a strong desire to help others who face obstacles in learning and life. Because I spend a lot of time babysitting my brother, I see firsthand the ways that his challenges affect not only him but also those around him. Tasks that might seem simple to others can be difficult for him, and situations that feel small can sometimes overwhelm him emotionally. As someone who helps care for him daily, I have learned how to adjust my approach depending on his mood or needs. I have to be calm, understanding, and creative in helping him navigate situations that frustrate him. These experiences have shown me that everyone’s learning journey is unique, and that people with challenges deserve support, patience, and encouragement to succeed. My experiences with my brother have also shaped my own understanding of challenges and personal growth. Caring for him is not always easy, but it has taught me how to stay focused and positive even in stressful situations. I have learned to think critically about solutions, remain calm when things are unpredictable, and use my time and energy wisely. These lessons have strengthened my sense of responsibility and resilience, and they have prepared me to face obstacles in my own life with determination rather than frustration or avoidance. Watching my brother struggle has also inspired me to help others who face similar challenges. I know that learning and communication can be difficult for many children and youth, and I want to be someone who can provide guidance, understanding, and support. Pursuing college or certification training will give me the knowledge and skills to do this effectively. I hope to learn strategies and techniques that can help students with special needs succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. I also want to be a mentor and advocate for children who might feel discouraged by their struggles, showing them that with patience, understanding, and effort, they can achieve their goals. My brother’s experiences have taught me empathy, understanding, and the importance of individualized support. They have inspired me to approach my educational journey with purpose and a desire to make a positive impact. By learning more about education, child development, and strategies for supporting students with learning challenges, I can turn my personal experiences into meaningful contributions to others. I want to be someone who creates an environment of patience, encouragement, and understanding, just as I try to do every day with my brother. Overall, my brother’s presence in my life has profoundly influenced my goals and my perspective. His struggles have motivated me to pursue higher education and to develop the skills I need to help others who face challenges. I have learned patience, empathy, problem-solving, and responsibility through caring for him, and I hope to use those lessons to support children and youth who need understanding and guidance. By combining my personal experiences with education and training, I aspire to make a positive difference in the lives of others, helping them overcome obstacles and achieve their potential just as I strive to support my brother every day.

My relationship with Jesus has had a major impact on my faith and the way I live my life. Knowing Him and trying to follow His example has taught me how to make better choices, be kind and compassionate, and stay focused on what is truly important. My faith gives me strength when life gets hard, guidance when I feel lost, and hope when things feel uncertain. It also reminds me that I can use my gifts and opportunities to serve others and make a difference in the world. Because of my faith, I try to treat everyone with respect and compassion, just as Jesus taught. I have learned that even small acts of kindness, like listening to someone who is struggling or offering encouragement, can make a big difference in someone’s life. My faith has also helped me stay determined in my studies. When assignments feel overwhelming or I face challenges in school, I remember that God has a plan for me and that I should do my best with the talents and opportunities I’ve been given. Trusting Jesus gives me the confidence to keep going even when things are difficult. I plan to implement my faith throughout my educational journey by living out the values Jesus has taught me. In school, I want to be honest, responsible, and supportive of my classmates. I hope to be a leader who sets a positive example, not only by working hard in my own studies, but also by encouraging and helping others to succeed. I want to use my education as a tool to grow academically, spiritually, and personally so that I can be prepared to serve others and make a positive impact in my community. My relationship with Jesus also reminds me to stay humble and continue learning. I know that education is a gift and an opportunity, and I want to make choices that honor God in everything I do. Whether it is participating in school activities, volunteering, or working toward my career goals, I want to live in a way that reflects the love and guidance Jesus has shown me. Even in stressful or challenging times, I plan to rely on prayer, faith, and the lessons I have learned from Him to guide my actions and decisions. Overall, my relationship with Jesus has strengthened my faith and taught me how to live a life of love, service, and purpose. It has shown me the importance of honesty, compassion, patience, and determination. I want to carry these lessons with me through my education and beyond. By staying faithful, working hard, helping others, and making choices that honor God, I hope to make a positive impact in my school, my community, and the world, all while following the example of Jesus in everything I do.

One of the mental health challenges I have faced is anxiety. There have been times when I felt overwhelmed by schoolwork, responsibilities, or even social situations, and it would make it hard to focus or feel calm. At first, I didn’t know how to handle these feelings, and sometimes I felt alone. Over time, I realized that anxiety is a normal emotion, and it’s okay to feel that way. Accepting that helped me start working on strategies to cope and regain control of my thoughts and actions. One way I work toward overcoming anxiety is by staying organized. When I break my work and responsibilities into manageable tasks, I feel less stressed and more in control. I make schedules, set priorities, and tackle things one step at a time. Organization has helped me reduce the feeling of being overwhelmed, which is often a big trigger for anxiety. By keeping track of assignments, activities, and goals, I feel more prepared and confident in handling challenges instead of letting them build up. Another important tool I use is changing my mindset. I have learned to notice negative thoughts and replace them with more positive or realistic ones. Instead of thinking, “I can’t do this,” I remind myself of what I have already accomplished and focus on solutions. This mental shift has helped me approach challenges more calmly and reduce the stress that anxiety can bring. It also reminds me that my feelings are valid, but I don’t have to let them control me. Experiencing anxiety has also made me want to support others who face similar challenges. I try to let friends and peers know that it is okay to feel anxious sometimes and that they are not alone. I encourage them to find what works for them to cope, whether that’s staying organized, practicing mindfulness, exercising, or talking to someone they trust. Sharing strategies and simply being understanding can make a big difference for someone struggling with anxiety or other mental health issues. Moving forward, I hope to continue raising awareness about mental health challenges. I want to help reduce the stigma around mental health so that people feel safe talking about their feelings. By encouraging open conversations, providing support, and sharing coping strategies, I hope to help others feel more confident in managing their mental health. I believe that mental health is just as important as physical health, and taking care of it can improve all areas of life. Facing anxiety has taught me patience, self-awareness, and the importance of using coping tools. It has also inspired me to support others, share what I have learned, and create awareness about mental health challenges. I want to continue spreading understanding, encouraging others to be kind to themselves, and helping people find ways to cope and thrive despite anxiety.

One of the most influential people in my life has been my high school teacher, Mr. Whatley. He has not only taught me academically, but he has also shaped the way I approach challenges, responsibility, and my goals. Mr. Whatley has a way of pushing his students to be their best, holding us accountable while encouraging us to reach beyond what we think we are capable of. His guidance has changed the way I think about hard work, discipline, and personal growth, and his lessons will stay with me long after high school. Mr. Whatley has always emphasized the importance of honesty, effort, and responsibility. He never lets me slack off, and he makes it clear that success does not come from shortcuts or minimal effort. Whenever I feel tempted to take the easy way or give less than my best, I remember his words and his example. He encourages me to stay focused, push through challenges, and take pride in everything I do. Because of him, I have learned that discipline and dedication are just as important as natural talent, and that true growth comes from consistently doing your best. One of the most meaningful lessons I have learned from Mr. Whatley is that accountability is essential, not only in school but in life. He teaches his students to plan ahead, manage time, and face challenges directly rather than avoiding them. I have seen how he holds other students accountable with fairness and encouragement, and it inspires me to do the same for myself. When I struggle with difficult assignments or feel overwhelmed, Mr. Whatley always reminds me to stay persistent and believe in my ability to succeed. His belief in me has helped me believe in myself, even when I doubt my own abilities. Mr. Whatley has also taught me the importance of honesty, both with others and with myself. He reminds us that being honest is not only about telling the truth, it is about being truthful with yourself about your effort, your goals, and the responsibilities you have. I have learned to reflect on my own actions and to hold myself to high standards because of his guidance. His lessons have helped me grow as a student and as a person, teaching me that integrity and hard work go hand in hand. Through Mr. Whatley’s mentorship, I have learned to embrace challenges, stay disciplined, and approach life with determination and focus. He has influenced the way I view education, responsibility, and personal growth. Thanks to his encouragement and guidance, I am more motivated than ever to work hard, pursue higher education, and give my best in everything I do. Mr. Whatley’s impact on my life has been profound, and I will carry the lessons he taught me into the future, always striving to live with honesty, discipline, and a commitment to my goals.

The loved one I would like to honor is my great-grandpa. He served in the United States Marines, and although I am not sure exactly where he was stationed, I know he dedicated his life to serving our country. He passed away a couple of years ago, and his loss was very difficult for my family. I hope to keep his memory alive and honor the sacrifices he made. My great-grandpa has always inspired me with his courage, discipline, and selflessness. Hearing stories about his service has taught me the value of hard work, perseverance, and giving back. Remembering him motivates me to work hard in school, pursue my dreams, and contribute to my community. My family has also shaped who I am. My dad encourages me to follow my dreams, even though he did not graduate from high school, and my mom works hard to support us. Together, they have taught me the importance of responsibility, kindness, and determination. Honoring my great-grandpa reminds me to be the best version of myself. I want to carry his memory forward and share his story so that his courage and dedication are never forgotten.

My name is Ryleigh Ramsey, and I am a hardworking and determined student who is passionate about giving back to my community. I am involved in several school and community activities that allow me to make a positive impact on those around me. I serve as class club president, and I am a member of the National Honor Society, FBLA, and FFEA. I have also participated in my school’s pit crew, SPOT program, and played beach volleyball for three years. These experiences have taught me leadership, teamwork, and the importance of serving others. They have also given me the opportunity to connect with younger students, mentor them, and help create a safe and welcoming environment at school and in the community. I have a strong commitment to helping children and youth feel safe, both in-person and online. In my community, I volunteer with younger students to encourage kindness, inclusion, and respect. I make sure they understand that bullying, whether it happens face-to-face or online, is never acceptable. I teach them to stand up for themselves and for others, to report bullying to trusted adults, and to use online platforms responsibly. I also promote positive online behavior by helping students understand that words and actions on social media can have a real impact on others’ feelings. By creating a culture of respect and awareness, I try to ensure that children and youth feel supported, safe, and valued. As I prepare to enter higher education, I face financial challenges that make scholarships essential for me to pursue my goals. My family has limited resources, and paying for college will be difficult without financial assistance. Even though my dad works hard to provide for our family, he did not graduate from high school, and there are many expenses associated with higher education that my family cannot cover on their own. A scholarship would allow me to focus on my studies, continue participating in community service, and prepare for a career where I can give back and make a difference. Financial support will give me the opportunity to achieve my full potential without the stress of worrying about how to pay for school. I am committed to using my education and experiences to make a positive impact in my community. I believe that keeping children and youth safe, mentoring younger students, and promoting kindness and inclusion are essential responsibilities. Through my volunteer work, school leadership, and online awareness efforts, I strive to create an environment where everyone feels valued and respected. Receiving financial support for my education will allow me to continue serving my community while working toward my goals. It will help me gain the skills and knowledge I need to make an even greater difference in the future. Overall, I am dedicated, responsible, and passionate about helping others. I hope to use the opportunities I receive in higher education to grow as a leader, mentor, and advocate for safety, kindness, and respect in my community. This scholarship would make a meaningful difference in helping me continue to give back while pursuing my dreams.

The movie that has had the greatest impact on my life is It Ends With Us. This movie really touched me because it made me think about self-respect and the importance of standing up for yourself, even when it is hard. The story is emotional and very real, and I have a strong, touchy feeling for it because it reminded me that everyone deserves to be treated with love and respect. Watching the main character face her struggles made me reflect on my own life and how important it is to value yourself no matter what happens. It Ends With Us tells the story of a young woman who faces very difficult choices in her relationships. She loves people deeply, but she realizes that sometimes love is not enough when someone is hurting you. She has to make the hard decision to leave someone she cares about because staying would mean losing her own happiness and self-worth. Watching her go through this made me realize how important it is to have boundaries and to never let anyone treat you in a way that diminishes your value. The courage she shows in putting herself first taught me that self-respect is one of the most important things in life. This movie also made me think about my own choices and how I want to live my life. I realized that it is okay to say no, to walk away from people or situations that are harmful, and to prioritize my mental and emotional well-being. The main character’s bravery inspired me to believe that I can stand strong even when things are hard. It showed me that self-respect is not selfish, but necessary to live a happy and healthy life. I want to always remember my worth and make choices that honor myself, no matter how difficult it might be. I have a very touchy feeling for this movie because it is emotional, real, and relatable. It made me think about people in my life and about the future, and it reminded me that love should never hurt you. The movie taught me that courage is not just about being brave in front of others, it is about protecting yourself, standing up for yourself, and making choices that are right for you. It made me understand that self-respect is something I have to choose every day, and that learning to say no or to step away from hurtful situations is one of the bravest things I can do. Overall, It Ends With Us has impacted me because it taught me lessons about self-respect, courage, and knowing my own value. It reminded me that even when life is complicated, I can make choices that protect my heart, mind, and well-being. I will carry this lesson with me as I grow up, because I want to live a life where I respect myself, make healthy choices, and never forget my worth. This movie inspired me to believe that I am strong enough to face challenges, love myself, and stand up for what I deserve.

One of the most meaningful experiences that has influenced my decision to go to college comes from my dad. My dad didn’t graduate from high school, but he has always been my biggest supporter and motivator. Growing up, I watched him work really hard to take care of our family. Even though he didn’t have the same opportunities that education could have given him, he always encouraged me to do my best in school and to follow my dreams. His support has made me want to work hard and go as far as I can in life. Even though my dad didn’t finish high school, he always told me that education is very important. He would say things like, “Go as far as you can, Ryleigh. Don’t let anything stop you from chasing your dreams.” Hearing him say that made me realize that I could have opportunities he didn’t get, and I should do my best to take advantage of them. His words weren’t just advice, they were a challenge. They pushed me to work hard in school, get good grades, and try things that might be hard, but would help me grow. Watching my dad made me understand what it means to work hard and never give up. Even without finishing school, he found ways to take care of us and still support me in everything I do. I learned that success is not just about what you have, it’s about what you do and how much effort you put in. My dad’s example taught me to stay determined, even when things are difficult, and to not let obstacles stop me from reaching my goals. My dad also showed me that education is not just about me, it’s about using what I learn to help others. Seeing him work so hard for our family inspired me to want to make a difference in my community and in the lives of people around me. Going to college will give me the tools and knowledge I need to make an impact. It will help me learn skills that I can use to help others and create opportunities for people who might not have the same chances I do. Because of my dad, I am motivated to work hard, stay focused, and pursue higher education. He taught me the value of perseverance, dedication, and believing in myself. He showed me that even if life doesn’t start out perfect, I can still reach my goals if I keep trying and never give up. College is the next step in my journey to achieve my dreams and make a positive difference. My dad’s guidance, encouragement, and example have made me who I am today. He inspires me every day to do my best, to never stop learning, and to use my education to help others. I want to make him proud and show that his belief in me was worth it. Because of him, I know that I can reach my full potential and make a difference in the world.

Jack Terry’s story inspires me because it is a powerful reminder that even after unimaginable loss and hardship, it is possible to rebuild, grow, and give back to others. Despite losing his entire family in the Holocaust, surviving three concentration camps, and arriving in the United States alone at just fifteen years old with limited education and no knowledge of English, Jack Terry refused to let his circumstances define his future. Instead, he chose perseverance, education, and service. His life proves that adversity does not determine who you become, how you respond to it does. What inspires me most about Jack Terry is not only what he survived, but what he chose to do afterward. He worked his way through high school and college, earned degrees in engineering and medicine, served in the U.S. Army, and later dedicated his life to helping others as a psychoanalyst. Even more meaningful is how he shared his story with students to spread hope and awareness. Rather than allowing his past to be a source of bitterness, he turned it into a lesson of resilience, compassion, and purpose. That choice motivates me to face my own challenges with strength and determination. In my own life, I have faced adversity that has shaped who I am today. Growing up, I have had to work hard to overcome financial limitations and personal obstacles that made certain opportunities feel out of reach. There were moments when balancing school responsibilities, extracurricular activities, and personal challenges felt overwhelming. However, instead of giving up, I learned to push myself, stay focused, and remain committed to my goals. These challenges taught me the value of perseverance, discipline, and gratitude. I learned that success is not about having an easy path, but about continuing forward even when the path is difficult. From my experiences, I have learned that adversity builds character. It has taught me how to manage stress, ask for help when needed, and appreciate opportunities that I might otherwise take for granted. Like Jack Terry, I have learned that education is one of the most powerful tools for changing your future. His determination to learn, despite overwhelming odds, encourages me to take my education seriously and use it as a way to create positive change. Through my studies, I plan to give back to society by using my education to serve others and make a meaningful impact in my community. I hope to pursue a career that allows me to help people, advocate for those who may not have a voice, and contribute to a better future. Whether through community involvement, mentorship, or professional service, I want to use what I learn to uplift others and inspire hope, just as Jack Terry did. Jack Terry’s life shows that resilience, education, and compassion can turn even the darkest circumstances into a legacy of hope. His story inspires me to keep pushing forward, to never take my opportunities for granted, and to use my future not only for personal success, but to make a difference in the lives of others.

My experience in speech and debate has played a major role in preparing me to confidently and respectfully share my Christian faith with others. Through speech and debate, I learned not only how to speak clearly and persuasively, but also how to listen, understand different viewpoints, and respond with confidence and grace. These skills are essential when sharing faith, especially in a world where people come from many backgrounds and beliefs. One of the most important lessons speech and debate taught me is how to communicate with purpose. In competition, every word matters. You learn how to organize your thoughts, support your ideas with evidence, and deliver your message in a way that connects with your audience. Sharing my Christian faith requires the same intentionality. Whether I am talking to a friend, participating in a discussion, or answering questions about what I believe, speech and debate has helped me explain my faith clearly without becoming defensive or unclear. I’ve learned how to express my beliefs confidently while still being respectful and thoughtful. Another way speech and debate prepared me for sharing my faith is by teaching me how to handle opposing viewpoints. Debate exposes you to arguments you may not agree with, and it challenges you to think critically rather than react emotionally. This has helped me understand that not everyone shares my beliefs, and that’s okay. Instead of feeling discouraged or frustrated, I’ve learned to approach conversations with patience and understanding. My Christian faith calls me to love others and treat them with kindness, and debate reinforced the importance of respectful dialogue even when opinions differ. Speech and debate also strengthened my confidence. Public speaking can be intimidating, especially when discussing personal beliefs. Competing in front of judges and audiences pushed me outside my comfort zone and taught me how to manage nerves and speak with conviction. This confidence has translated directly into my faith life. I am now more comfortable standing up for what I believe and sharing my testimony when opportunities arise. I’ve learned that confidence doesn’t mean having all the answers, it means being willing to speak honestly and trust God to guide the conversation. Additionally, speech and debate taught me the value of preparation. Before any round, you must research, practice, and anticipate questions. Similarly, sharing my Christian faith requires me to know what I believe and why I believe it. Speech and debate encouraged me to study Scripture more deeply and think critically about my faith so that I can explain it thoughtfully and accurately. This preparation has strengthened my own faith while equipping me to share it more effectively. Overall, speech and debate has been more than a competitive activity, it has been a training ground for leadership, communication, and faith. It taught me how to speak with clarity, listen with respect, and engage others with confidence and compassion. These skills have prepared me to share my Christian faith in a way that reflects both truth and love, and they will continue to guide me as I grow as a leader and a follower of Christ.

My personal experiences with finances and financial education have mostly come from real-life situations rather than formal lessons in a classroom. I started working when I was 15 years old, and now that I am 18, I have learned many important lessons about money through my own experiences. Having a job at a young age taught me that money is not easily earned and that every dollar represents time, effort, and responsibility. Working has helped me understand the true value of money and why it is important to manage it wisely. When I first started working, I learned quickly how easy it is to spend money without thinking. Over time, I realized that if I spent everything I earned, I would not have anything saved for future goals. This taught me the importance of budgeting and saving. I began setting aside part of each paycheck so I could plan ahead instead of living paycheck to paycheck. Learning how to balance spending and saving helped me become more responsible and thoughtful about my financial choices. Working also taught me the difference between needs and wants. I learned that some things, like food, transportation, and school expenses, are necessary, while others are optional. Understanding this difference has helped me avoid unnecessary spending and focus on what truly matters. I have also learned how quickly small expenses can add up, which has made me more careful about how I spend my money. These lessons have been important as I prepare for more financial responsibility in the future. Although I have not received a lot of formal financial education in school, my job has given me hands-on experience that has been just as valuable. Seeing my paycheck, paying attention to hours worked, and managing my own expenses have helped me understand how money works in real life. These experiences have shown me that financial education is essential and should be learned early. Without this knowledge, it is easy to make mistakes that can affect your future. I plan to use what I continue to learn about finances to build a better future for myself. As I prepare for college and adulthood, I want to make smart financial decisions and avoid unnecessary debt. Budgeting will help me manage college expenses, while saving will help me prepare for emergencies and long-term goals. I also want to learn more about credit, investing, and financial planning so I can be confident in my decisions. Overall, starting work at a young age has given me a strong foundation in financial responsibility. The lessons I have learned about earning, saving, and spending money will help guide me throughout my life. Financial education has already played a major role in shaping my mindset, and I know that continuing to learn and apply these skills will help me create a stable and successful future.

The art piece I am submitting is an original photograph of the beach. I chose to capture the beach because it is a place where I feel the most peaceful and connected to myself. Being near the ocean allows me to step away from daily stress and distractions and gives me time to reflect. The beach has always been a place of comfort for me, and I find that it helps calm my thoughts and reset my mindset. Because of this, it felt natural to choose the beach as the subject of my artwork. I believe the best art comes from nature because it is authentic and meaningful. Nature does not need to be altered or perfected, it already holds beauty, balance, and emotion. The ocean, in particular, represents movement and freedom. The constant motion of the waves reminds me that life is always changing, yet there is a sense of peace within that change. When creating this piece, I wanted to capture more than just an image; I wanted to capture a feeling. My goal was to reflect the calm, openness, and clarity that I experience whenever I am at the beach. The inspiration behind this photograph came from moments in my life when I needed peace and time to think. Standing by the ocean helps me feel grounded and present. The sound of the waves and the openness of the sky create a quiet environment where I can slow down and appreciate my surroundings. I focused on capturing the natural colors of the sand, water, and sky, as well as the way light interacts with the scene. These details were important to me because they highlight the simplicity and beauty of nature. This artwork represents how nature influences both my creativity and my outlook on life. I often find inspiration in calm, quiet moments rather than busy or overwhelming environments. The beach reminds me to slow down and enjoy the present moment instead of rushing through life. Creating this piece allowed me to express emotions that are sometimes difficult to put into words, such as peace, gratitude, and reflection. Overall, this photograph reflects my belief that nature plays a powerful role in art and self-expression. The beach is not just a location to me, it is a place of inspiration, clarity, and comfort. Through this artwork, I hope viewers can feel the same sense of calm and appreciation that I feel when I am near the ocean, and recognize how nature can inspire meaningful and lasting art.
