Ever since I was a little girl, I found so much joy in the simple act of helping someone feel beautiful. I would sit for hours practicing hairstyles on my dolls, watching makeup tutorials, and experimenting with different looks on myself. What started as a fun hobby quickly turned into something much deeper. I realized that cosmetology isn’t just about outer beauty—it’s about helping people feel confident, seen, and valued.
As I got older, my passion for cosmetology continued to grow. I began doing makeup for my friends for school dances, curling my sisters’ hair before church, and studying different products and techniques online. Every time I helped someone get ready, I saw how their posture changed, how their smile grew bigger, and how their confidence lit up the room. That’s when it truly clicked for me: I don’t just want to make people look good—I want to help them feel good. Cosmetology is the path that allows me to do that.
At the same time, I’ve developed another passion that’s shaped who I am: showing livestock. This has taught me a strong work ethic, patience, and how to care for something bigger than myself. Taking care of animals is a daily responsibility—it’s early mornings, long hours, and constant learning. It’s also where I learned to be consistent and push through challenges. Whether I’m working in the barn or behind a makeup chair, both have taught me how to stay committed, even when things aren’t easy.
Another huge part of my motivation comes from my family. I’m the oldest sibling, and I take pride in being a positive influence for them. I try to lead with kindness, faith, and resilience, because I know they’re always watching. I want my younger siblings to know that it’s okay to chase big dreams and work hard for what they want. I want them to see me not just talking about goals, but actually achieving them.
I also care deeply about my community. I believe in treating others with respect, offering a helping hand, and being someone people can count on. Whether it’s volunteering, encouraging others, or simply being a listening ear, I want my actions to spread kindness. One of my dreams is to eventually open a beauty space that’s not just a salon—but a safe place where people can come and feel heard, welcomed, and lifted up.
Receiving this scholarship would help me take the next step toward becoming a licensed cosmetologist. It would allow me to attend a professional beauty school, access the tools and training I need, and bring me closer to turning my dream into reality. I know it won’t always be easy, but I’m ready to work hard, stay focused, and make a difference in the lives of others—whether through a perfect braid, a glowing smile, or simply reminding someone of their worth.
Because to me, beauty isn’t just skin deep—it’s something we create through love, connection, and purpose. And I can’t wait to share that with the world.
