Pennington/Stroub Scholarship for New Richmond High School
Hello, my name is Rylee Burnes and I am a senior at New Richmond High School. I have been a part of the French club, chemistry club, and the science club and I was also a part of my schools varsity bowling team. I plan on going to school for nursing after high school. How I plan on making a positive impact is by making everyone feel comfortable in there time of need. People are going through one of the hardest times of their lives so they do not need the added stress of feeling uneasy when they are trying to get better. I choose to be a nurse for multiple reasons. The first reason is because I always knew I wanted to help people and my dad, grandmother, and aunt are all nurses and they would tell me these stories about how they helped people and how they made them feel at home and I want to do that for people. Another reason I want to be a nurse is because I know I will always try to go above and beyond to make not only the people in the hospital comfortable but also their family. Growing up I have had a lot of my family members in and out of the hospital and I know that they feel so much more comfortable when they have a nurse who actually cares about them and are excited to do their job and I know I can do that every day. Lastly, the biggest reason I want to become a nurse is because of my grandmother. She has been a motherly figure in my life and has just been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. This has been an extremely hard time on me and my family and we all have been taking her to her doctors appointments and when I go with her I can see her feel better when she has a nurse who cares about her then one who don’t really care. When I become a nurse I will treat everyone as if they are family because they are someones family or loved one and I know if my loved one was in the hospital I would want them to be treated as family, so I will do that for other people. Thank you so much for this amazing opportunity, I am extremely grateful and appreciative for your generosity.
