My Main goal as a future educator is to help everyone see the value in school and to bring out everyone's potential to the fullest. As a teacher, I would want to work in a lower-income area as I believe students in these schools suffer the most. A lot of these students sadly just accept their environment and surroundings instead of pushing to move on and up in life. I think a teacher should inspire hope in the students and try to light the fire hidden in everyone. All my life I have understood the value of a good teacher and the downsides of a bad one. As a Black kid, I can count the teachers I have had that look anywhere near my complexion on one hand. Minorities in American Society need teachers that look like them to inspire hope in them. It is important to have someone that can relate to them to get to know students on a deeper level to bring out the best in students. I have wanted to be a teacher to help people for most of my life. Teaching has run in my family. My Grandpa taught History at Bogan, a public high school in Chicago, and My Mother teaches in the Special Ed Department of Curie, a large Public High School in Chicago. On the other side of my family, my Uncle teaches History at a high school in Chicago. Lastly, My Brother just graduated from College to be a Teacher and Coach in Indianapolis. I look to follow in his footsteps and become an educator and coach myself. I have a real passion for History and hope to share it with many others. I believe that people who do not learn from history usually repeat it. History provides such a backbone and foundation for society and I want more people to value it. My goal in the classroom would be to make people think critically and logically so that they then can transition those skills into their daily life. As a future educator, I would make it my responsibility to make my students aware of their social responsibilities as citizens. An emphasis on big global events that a lot of people tend to not care about is something that would be important to me as an educator. I believe an educated population is the most important thing to a functioning and successful democracy. My Main goals as an educator are to train people to believe in themselves, to think critically, and lastly be kind!
