As a young woman who’s trying to manage the workplace today, I’ve always believed in the importance of service, especially when it comes to protecting and uplifting younger generations. I volunteer regularly at my church, where I help with youth events, assist in Sunday school classrooms, and serve as a positive role model for the younger kids. Through these experiences, I’ve built strong relationships and gained the trust of many children, which I see as both an honor and a responsibility.
That trust has allowed me to speak openly with kids—especially my younger siblings and their friends—about how to stay safe online and how to recognize and avoid both in-person bullying and cyberbullying. With so many children having access to the internet at a young age, it’s become more important than ever to teach them about online safety. I show them how to report harmful behavior, avoid sharing personal information, and make good decisions when using social media or playing online games. I explain that it’s okay to ask for help, that they should always come to a trusted adult, and that standing up for themselves and others in a respectful way matters.
Growing up in a family of six, I’ve seen firsthand the sacrifices my parents have made to provide for us. Attending a four-year college has always been my goal, but I know it would be a significant financial burden for my family. We do our best to stretch every dollar, and I’m committed to doing all I can to support my education through scholarships, work (I’ve worked two part time jobs over the span of two years), and community engagement. Any type of assistance I receive would not only help lighten the load for my parents, but also bring me one step closer to making my dreams a reality.
I’m passionate about creativity and connection, which is why I plan to major in marketing and minor in graphic design—or possibly study psychology to become an art therapist. I’ve always believed that creativity can be healing, and I want to use my skills either to help others through visual storytelling or to provide emotional support and creative outlets to young people who are struggling.
Helping others feel safe, supported, and seen has always been a part of who I am. With your support, I can continue my personal mission while working toward a future where I can give back on an even greater scale.
