My biggest goal in life is to provide a better life for my family after they did the same for me. The best way for me to do that is through pursuing my education.

My biggest goal in life is to provide financial independence for my immigrant mother. When my family immigrated from the Dominican Republic, she promised my brother and me the chance to pursue our dreams and aspirations without anything holding us back. Seeing her fight tooth and nail every day to fulfill that promise let me know that she would do whatever she could to make it happen. For that reason, my educational goal is to acquire my MBA (Master of Business Administration) in Finance to, in time, pursue a career in investment banking. With me achieving this academic goal, it will allow me to achieve my ultimate goal of providing my mother with the financial independence she deserves for fulfilling the promise that she made to my brother and me many years ago.
I know that I still have a long way to go before I can achieve this goal. I currently plan to attend Fordham University in the fall of 2025 with my intentions being to acquire my Bachelor of Science in Finance. After I complete my undergraduate education, I plan on pursuing graduate school at Columbia University, where I can then acquire my MBA in finance. As you may know, to acquire an MBA, you must first acquire a bachelor’s degree. Much like this stepping stone in academics, this scholarship would also be a valuable stepping stone in my educational life. With this scholarship, my tuition would be better funded and would allow me to maximize my time and direct it towards my educational goals
As you can tell, I am very passionate about my education. But I am not the only passionate one in my family. Seeing how passionate my mother was about providing me with a better life taught me how driven one can be when motivated by others. My mother’s main motivation in her life is her two sons. Now I am returning the favor. She is my biggest motivation in my endeavors. That same passion she had when she would strive to provide me with a better life has now been passed down to me. I want to be the one to return that favor and give her the better life that she is owed. I would be greatly honored to receive this scholarship. Receiving this scholarship would directly contribute to the commitment I made to provide financial independence for my mother and I would forever be grateful for this opportunity if given to me.
