One of my life goals is to become a sports physician. I believe that ultimately, this will lead to what I think is my true purpose, which is becoming a heart surgeon. When my grandmother (best friend) died of a heart attack, it became clearer to me that I wanted to help in this area.
I believe I am a strong candidate because I am a self-motivated and team-oriented individual who works well in diverse environments. I truly have a heart for helping people and want to see them live long, healthy lives. All that I learn, I want to give back to people and help them lead more nutritious and fulfilling lives.

Helping people has always been something that I wanted to do in life. Starting from the age of 9 until the present, I have always been intrigued by science and the human body. Every time my parents took me to doctors' appointments, I had questions for the doctors, which fed my hunger to know more and understand more about the medical field. For example, I hit a growth spurt during the summer when I was 12. I went from 5'5 to 5'10 and I continued to grow. During those times, I wanted to know more about growth spurts and growth plates in young people. I asked my physician for X-rays to understand the pain associated with the growth. Another memory was when my brother had his first son. I visited them in the hospital (I was 13). My mother told me that the doctor and nurses said that they had never met someone so young who was able to articulate his future goals in the medical field and asked good questions about the medical field. They further said that they believe that I will have a great career in this field if I stick to my studies and continue to be open to learn.
The areas I am interested in are the heart and sports. In 2021, I lost my grandmother to a heart attack, and it changed my life forever. I truly want to do more study on the heart to understand what happened to her, and also help others with maintaining a healthy heart so that they can live longer lives. Also, I have participated in organized sports since the age of 7, and throughout those years, I have noticed how important physical activity is for the heart. Although there is much information about the heart, I want to be able to learn all I can in this area and see how I can be of help to push this field forward with all that I learn.
Currently, the only obstacle I am facing is financial. Although I know that my parents will do whatever it takes to help me achieve my goals in education. I know that it is a financial hardship for them. Experiencing this difficulty has caused me to apply more vigorously for scholarships to enable my parents to be financially free from this burden. They did an awesome job raising me and providing for me. This is something I would like to do for them that will also help me to be successful. This will contribute to my practice by taking the initiative to make tough decisions that will be helpful to all involved. By having honest, integral, and heartfelt practice, it will make me a more personable physician with patients who are sure that I will always have their best interest at heart when it comes to their overall health.
