Hello! I am Roman Jones, a Freshman at Saint Louis University, studying Aeronautics at an accelerated rate. Stepping into the next chapter of my life has been an exhilarating experience, and I am only bound to go up from here! My career goal since I was 7 is to become a Captain at a major airline carrier. One of my many desires is to diversify the field and inspire other African Americans to consider a career in the field of Aerospace. I am aware it is quite an expensive and demanding field to enter, but I believe with careful planning, creativity, and drive, anybody can do it. I am committed to filling that gap by serving with various aviation outreach programs. I formerly served as an intern at the National Aviation Education Center (NAEC), and worked at the Aviation Discovery Zone. I now serve with SLU's AirCRAFT Lab, a flight dynamics study lab with a community outreach program. I am currently restoring 2 model aircraft to working condition, and plan to collaborate with upperclassmen to create a safe and easy-to-use flight control system so school students of all ages to fly them, just like I could 11 years ago (Rich, if you're seeing this, I can't thank you enough). I am also a certified Private Pilot, with 113 hours of flight time. My next milestone is an Instrument rating, which I am on track to secure by May of 2024. I look ahead to an amazing career, as aviation is an industry that continues to change the world, and I feel that I can become the best person I could ever be within it. I am shooting for the moon, and I don't plan on hitting a star.
