Disassociated communication can oftentimes transpire into circumstances that may not be appropriate in the context of the situation, resulting in unintended effects that pose no benefits. Thus, effective collaboration is essential to promote reverence in a diverse population. As a member of the HOPE Squad organization, I and my group strive tirelessly to represent our multicultured school as well as the individuals or clubs that often don't get defined in the vast scheme of dynamic activities. For instance, I and my group had to plan how to express our compassion towards the staff, administrators, and especially the custodians by making them feel included. All my teammates had creative but some disjoint ideas that needed to be organized appropriately. Thus, through our friendly collaboration and organization skills, we developed a plan to pass out jolly ranchers to the staff, create a HOPE Squad inspirational board in the cafeteria that displayed captivating and loving quotes to spark big intentions as well as happiness in students, and arrange special breakfast meals for the custodians. The results were immense. The mood of our school became cheery and the HOPE Squad club started to become more distinguished among students. More attention was given to the custodians in the forms of “Thank you” and “Have a Great Day.” Through effective association with my fellow team members, we were able to express our true intention: spreading benevolence. Because of our well-organized thoughts and teamwork skills, we made students feel welcome, regardless of their race, ethnicity, or academic ability. Accordingly, coherent collaboration in healthcare is fundamental because not only does it create stronger bonds with coworkers which further creates common purposes but also enhance effective control of emergencies in a way that answers all patients' needs. Take for instance the game "Telephone." If one person messes up the phrase in the line due to misinterpretation, then the whole message becomes shuffled. This is parallel to the medical field: If healthcare professionals are too narrow-minded to small details and express poor communication, it can be detrimental to the point that an innocent life can be lost. Therefore, as an aspiring neonatologist, I understand that communication is vital to enhance protection for the neonate. One small misinterpretation or insufficient communication can lead to increased vulnerability of the neonate as well as emotional breakdowns for the parents. Besides providing efficient care, healthcare collaboration can also cultivate openness and appreciation of all cultures because, in the medical field, being respectful towards all religions and customs weighs more than our level of experience. For instance, as a volunteer for the Mansfield Oliver Nature Park Organization, we regularly make fun, little activities for preschool and elementary children so they can learn new concepts in an adventurous way. I, my group, and our sponsors constantly organize activities for the children based on their values and beliefs. This enables us to connect directly with the children for us to know more about them. Our association allowed us to recognize the importance of how effective communication can yield appreciation towards the most meaningful things in our lives without hatred or false admiration. This is a lesson that I will definitely apply when I become a neonatologist. As an aspiring neonatologist, I must develop collaboration to foster empathy, especially for patients who are in grave situations. Patients who don't have any close family are usually the ones who yearn for support to spark internal strength to resist the defeating power. Thus, effective and clear collaboration in healthcare can destroy loneliness and nurture love within patients, contributing to healthier development.
