Bio

Hello, my name is Rolando Curiel and my major that I would like to pursue once I enter a university is film and digital media. One day, I dream to be an actor and director in film as well as a screenwriter. In my free time, I like to write, read, and cook as well as spend time outdoors. I am a very down to earth person and I wish the best for people in their journey through life. If you were to consider me for a scholarship, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Dog Lover Scholarship
My name is Rolando Curiel and many dogs have impacted my life positively. Dogs have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. One particular dog has impacted me the most, however, and I still hold on to the memories of this dog every day, is a particular pug. every day when I got home from elementary school, I would be greeted by a pug named Scrappy. Although this dog belonged to my older cousin, I would also help out with the dog as I would feed it, and give Scrappy water. This impacted me by giving me a sense of responsibility. It is common knowledge that although dogs are fun to have, they can also be a lot of work. To this day, my mother always tells me that having a dog is similar to having a baby. Moreover, I would occasionally take Scrappy for walks with my cousin and I felt as if I was not only aiding in giving Scrappy the best life he could, but I felt like my cousin and I have a close relationship because of the dog. Scrappy gave me a reason why I will one day have my own dog when I graduate college and have a house of my own. Anytime I came home from school, I would be greeted by him and he would be very excited to play when I wanted to be outside. This made me want to be more active by having others accompany me when I perform outdoor activities such as swimming. My cousin and I kept our pug healthy as we would do many other tasks for scrappy. When scrappy was about 8 years old, my cousin decided to get another dog because my cousin wanted to try taking care of a bigger dog. My cousin had bought a great Pyrenees mixed with a border collie. This dog was a big step for my cousin and I because for one, we had to adjust with the amount of food we are supposed to give the dog. It also was a big step because we had another dog to tame. The border collie unfortunately would not be very friendly with the dog that we currently had, so we had to make the choice to send Scrappy to the purebred dog breeder where we got the Scrappy from. To this day, we do not know if Scrappy is still alive, however, we know that for my cousin and me, and the rest of my family will always have the memories of Scrappy in our hearts.
