Hello, I am a current Sophomore at Grand Valley State University, studying to major in Operations Management. I was born in Guanajuato, Mexico, and was brought to Holland, Michigan, by my parents. They moved to Michigan to give my siblings and I a better life, a place where opportunity is at reach and one can achieve anything if they have the mindset to do it. Since a young age I was told about this sacrifice that my parents did for my siblings and I, leaving their home country, leaving their families behind in order to try and give their children a better future. This has been my main motivator to pursue my educational goals and to thrive, to earn my college degree, and to not only make my parents happy and have their sacrifices pay off, but also have my life set to a point where I can do whatever I want. Graduating college will not only put a smile on the faces of my parents, but I also know that I have gotten to a position where I can do anything I strive to do, I can get a great job and live happily, and in the end give my future children an example on how hard work can pay off and get you to where you want to be if you have the correct mindset. I chose to pursue a degree in Business, most specifically Operations Management because efficiency has been something that I strive to have in everyday scenarios, from school to work to daily activities. If one is efficient in what they do, they do not only put out quality work, but can also put more of the same level of work out as well.
