Sam Stoy "Captain America" Scholarship
I’ve chosen to enroll in a welding program because I’ve always been drawn to working with my hands and creating something tangible. Growing up, I spent a lot of time working on car experiments with my dad, and over the years, I became fascinated with the idea of welding as a skill that could open up so many creative and practical opportunities. As I explored different career paths, welding stood out as a way to combine my interest in mechanics and craftsmanship with a stable, high-demand profession.
Before deciding to enroll, I did some research on the industry and talked to professionals in the field. I also took a few introductory welding courses to get a feel for the work. I realized that welding offers the chance to work on diverse projects, from structural work to custom fabrication, and it’s a skill that’s needed across multiple industries.
Looking ahead, I hope to gain experience in both industrial and artistic welding, with the ultimate goal of working in custom metal fabrication. I want to build a career where I can contribute to projects that are both functional and aesthetically unique. Whether it’s creating artistic pieces or helping to build large structures, I look forward to applying my skills in a meaningful way, while continuously learning and growing in the craft.
I also want to be the best at what I do, and want to make sure that I help others with the decision making and the work ethic I contribute.
