I have to thank many doctors/nurses/medical staff for constantly restoring my health, and I feel I am being called to pursue my passion of becoming a Registered Nurse. Growing up, I remember driving with my family to my grandpa's house (Pecos, TX) frequently to assist with daily living activities as he was a person with paraplegia missing his left limb. He taught citizenship classes until his last few days and is my hero/inspiration. I am most grateful for my CPR training as I recently utilized my skillset (as a CNA) to assist a long-term care facility resident who experienced sudden cardiac arrest. Thanks to my training, my colleagues and I significantly saved the life of a well-known and beloved resident. As a future nurse, I would more than appreciate any financial assistance to help me achieve my goal of being of service and giving back to others what medical workers have already given me. I work part-time at a long-term care facility as a certified nurse aide (CNA) while attending school to help make ends meet. Although I realize it is a passion of mine to help others in a medical setting, I fully recognize that financial assistance would allow me to focus more on my studies, which will help offset the financial hardships I am currently faced with. As a member of the Latino/ADHD communities, I truly believe in the importance of visibility and hope that I am setting an example of what is possible when you remain dedicated and grateful.
