    My dream of becoming a student counselor in a middle school stems from my own challenging experiences during that pivotal period of my life. As a sixth-grader, I found myself grappling with a tumultuous home life, having relocated from Alaska to Texas to live with my biological father amidst an environment rife with abuse. Despite the turmoil within my household, school became my sanctuary—a place where I could find solace and express my true self without fear. My teachers were always welcoming of my creativity and embraced me for who I was, which was a new experience. Reflecting on my own journey, I realized the profound impact that educators and counselors can have on the lives of students. While I longed for someone to recognize the signs of abuse and offer support, I felt let down by the system when my concerns were brushed aside during a meeting with my school counselor and my dad. This experience ignited a fervent desire within me to become the advocate that I needed during my darkest days—a beacon of hope for students who find themselves in similar circumstances. Everything we go through in our childhood is detrimental to who we become as adults. I want to create an environment where kids can truly learn how to love themselves and build confidence in their future. With a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology serving as my first stepping stone, I am committed to equipping myself with the knowledge and skills necessary to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young individuals. Beyond academic qualifications, I aim to embody qualities such as patience, empathy, resourcefulness, and trustworthiness—essential attributes for effectively supporting students through their personal struggles. My ultimate goal as a student counselor is to create a safe and nurturing environment where every student feels empowered to embrace their true selves. I am driven by the belief that no child should ever feel alone or unsupported during their formative years. By advocating for their well-being and providing them with the guidance they need to navigate life's challenges, I aspire to be the positive influence that propels them toward a brighter future. In pursuing my dream, I am not only fulfilling a personal aspiration but also contributing to the collective effort of building a more compassionate and inclusive educational community—one where every student's voice is heard and valued. It takes a village to raise a child, and I want to be a part of that village.
