What do we touch that is not engineered? What do we see that is not pioneered by an engineer? Let's look at a Rubik's Cube. It took me an entire summer to master it with the art of solving, the art of confronting challenges, and the art of creating ample scopes for intellectual development. The magic in a test tube, the infinitesimal mysteries of calculus, and the enchantment of a pendulum’s swing – collaborate to make Engineering a welcoming field of analysis, innovation, and discovery. From planning a simple neutralisation experiment to researching sustainable agriculture for The Borgen’s Project, the magic twirling in a test tube or the enchantment bubbling in a crucible has always bound my interests to the realms of Science and Chemistry. From mixing colourful liquids in a toy chemistry set to researching and carrying out complex experiments, my love for the magic of Chemistry has only grown. As a chemical engineering student, I imagine, visualize and sustainably contribute to the world while discovering the depths of the magic in applied chemistry. Since joining Georgia Tech, I have had the opportunity to intern as a Sustainability Intern at Coca-Cola and Compass Minerals. I am also an undergraduate researcher at The Boukouvala Lab at Georgia Tech where I am particularly focused on optimizing supply chains for plastic recycling, introducing closed-loop recycling systems, and assessing the trade-offs between CO2 emissions and virgin PET production in Georgia. Engineering is like an extensive garden welcoming every passer-by to collectively contribute meaningfully.
Fall Favs: A Starbucks Stan Scholarship
Fall and Starbucks go hand-in-hand to create the most exotic concoctions! The Pumpkin Spice Latte tastes like pumpkin pie in a glass (or in this case, paper cup). It has a perfect balance of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice flavors that start sweet and end spicy. The espresso helps to balance out the sweetness and add bold roasted coffee bitterness. The strength of this drink is its balance, it’s never too sweet, too spicy, or too bitter. Does it feel incredibly lame to name it the best drink on Starbucks’ fall menu? Yes, but I think it just might be Starbucks’ best drink, period. The drink is available hot as well as iced, so if you feel weird drinking a Pumpkin Spice Latte when it’s still 85 degrees in the dog days of summer, get it iced! The Bottom Line: There is a reason pumpkin spice-flavored drinks are even a thing, and this is that reason. Starbucks kicked off the trend and they’re still the best to do it. Iced Pumpkin Chai Tea Latte’s soft and creamy body makes way for a mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, allspice, and vanilla with a hint of earthy black tea bitterness. It tastes like autumn in a cup. The Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai Tea Latte is another brand-new drink in the Starbucks lineup and I was very very close to giving this drink the top spot. The only reason I didn’t was because I feel like this drink is just a bit too sweet and creamy so much so that I would consider adding a shot of espresso in here to balance things out. Without a doubt, that hack would make this drink my number one pick, but I didn’t feel it was fair to hack a drink and name it number one, so it’ll have to live in second place. Bottom Line: Add a shot of espresso and you’ll deepen the flavor and complexity of this drink, making it the best Starbucks Fall menu drink. With the stock recipe, it’s very good but a bit too sweet for me to say it’s the best. The Buttery and toasty flavor of Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Espresso has some tart green apple notes, a hint of sweetness, and a rich and creamy body. The Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Espresso is a brand-new drink in the Starbucks lineup, and I think it’s a great addition that reflects the season, without tasting like something you’re used to. It’s the only drink on the fall menu that doesn’t rely on pumpkin so if you have no love for pumpkin spice but still want something that captures the vibe of the fall season, this is your drink. The Bottom Line: Tart, fruity, rich, and creamy, the Apple Crisp Oatmilk Shaken Espresso is tailor-made for people who aren’t interested in pumpkin spice but still want a fruity finish to their iced espresso. Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew’s cinnamon-y and nutmeggy dominate the flavor here with a soft silky mouthfeel and mild roasted coffee notes on the backend. Truly, it was hard to name even one of these drinks the least essential, They’re all pretty solid, but if I had to pick (which I do) it’s this one. Is it possible that Starbucks’ fall drinks lineup is its strongest? I think so. When the bottom tastes this good it’s a testament to the quality of Starbucks’ pumpkin spice sauce. The Bottom Line: If your go-to drink is already a cold brew coffee, definitely give this drink a taste, it has a nice cinnamon-forward and that familiar silky cold brew texture.
"The Summer I Turned Pretty" Fan Scholarship
Team Conrad: A Story of Redemption and Eternal For those in love with Cousins, the debate between Team Conrad and Team Jeremiah has sparked heated discussions amongst friends. While there are legitimate arguments on both sides, I stand firmly with Team Conrad, as his relationship with Belly is a journey of redemption and lasting love that more closely matches the core of the series. I'm Team Conrad because I'm a sucker for the mysterious Wattpad bad-boy type. His cold demeanor in the series makes him look like a heart of steel, but the real question is -"What is wrong with Belly?". He was so sweet to her when they were younger and she shared sawdust with him throughout the series. Their chemistry in those moments is unmatched, and there’s no denying that Belly and Conrad only shine when they’re together. Sure, there’s tension, but there’s also love—and that’s what makes their feelings genuine and very human. Not that they’ll mash (is it too late to say that at this point?), but that combination of rage and passion is what makes their love so real. Conrad and Belly's relationship is based on a deep bond and shared flaws. Their love is not a fairy-tale romance. Instead, it is a simple and honest portrait of two individuals who feel something strongly but struggle to navigate their emotions. This truth makes their relationship cohesive and endearing. At first, Conrad and Belly aren’t their best selves at all. They need to grow and mature as individuals to be the right partners for each other. This growth is the highlight of their journey, as they learn from their mistakes and challenges, and ultimately become stronger and wiser individuals. Conrad's treatment of Belly is not ideal. While it is understandable that he is going through a difficult time, he should not take it out on her. He has belittled her, made fun of her after her first date, and forgotten her birthday present. However, they also have good moments together, such as joking around, dancing at the deb ball, and sharing tender moments. When they are alone, it is clear that they are in love. I cannot imagine them with anyone else. Their story is not one of endless happiness, and there are times when they seem to drift apart. Some even call their connection "toxic" at times. But these complexities reflect real-life relationships, where confusion and misunderstanding are part of the journey. Their ability to overcome these challenges is a testament to their resilience and the depth of their relationship. What makes Conrad and Belly's story truly compelling is the sense of redemption that underlies their relationship. Despite the obstacles, they manage to find a way to each other. Their journey is like a heartbeat, pulsing through the story and appealing to readers’ attention and emotions. Their interactions mirror their inner struggles and personal growth, making their relationship central to the series. The story of Conrad and Belly is about more than just a romantic relationship - it is a profound exploration of redemption, growth, and the enduring power of love. Their relationship isn’t perfect, but it’s real, raw, and ultimately beautiful—a reminder that love’s flaws make it all the more real and powerful. Conrad and Belly's relationship would be full of love, laughter, and intimacy. I can imagine them dancing together, laughing at each other's jokes, and sharing inside jokes. Conrad would always be there for Belly, protecting her and loving her unconditionally. He would be the perfect boyfriend, always willing to do whatever it takes to make Belly happy.

Walking In Authority International Ministry Scholarship
From planning a simple neutralization experiment to researching and writing articles on sustainable development & eradication of poverty for The Borgen’s Project, the magic twirling in a test tube or the enchantment bubbling in a crucible has always bound my interests in the realms of Science and Chemistry. From mixing colorful liquids in a toy chemistry set to researching and carrying out complex experiments, my love for the magic of chemical innovations has only evolved. Yet, what really attracted and deepened my love and passion for Chemistry was the research I conducted for The Borgen’s Project on ways to eradicate poverty, homelessness, and hunger. During the research I conducted for them, I understood how hunger, famine, and starvation could all be eradicated by improving food production, quality, and supply with the help of Chemical Engineers. In my advocacy articles written for the globally-reputed organization, The Borgen’s Project, I focused on the impact of Chemical Engineering and innovations in alleviating poverty and hunger in developing economies like Myanmar and Burkina Faso. No one deserves to live in impoverished conditions and as leaders of tomorrow, it is crucial for us to take action and give a voice to the voiceless. My opportunity to research allowed me to advocate for the world's poor and vulnerable and educate global communities to step up and take action for what matters the most - the fight in alleviating global poverty. While interviewing Professor Glynn Ladden, Professor of Chemical Engineering and Vice-Chancellor of Research at the University of Cambridge for The Teen Pop Magazine, I was deeply intrigued and inspired by her portrayal of the profound influence of chemical innovations in social development. Being a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and Engineering, she was impressed by my interest and work on the subject and committed to guiding me in my research for Borgen on how Chemical Engineering can provide a solution for global poverty. While advocating for poverty-stricken societies, I spoke from the eyes of an aspiring chemical engineer aiming to improve the quality of human life by reducing starvation and creating eco-friendly alternatives. The desire to assist impoverished societies inspires me to be a Chemical Engineer and imagine, visualize, and develop solutions to aid the world through accessible nutrition whilst protecting the environment. Scientific research is a critical tool for the successful navigation of our complex world. Without it, we would be forced to rely solely on intuition, other people’s authority, or blind luck. While many of us feel confident in our abilities to decipher and interact with the world around us, history is filled with examples of how wrong we can be when we fail to recognize the need to research and find evidence to support claims. As a chemical and biomolecular engineering major at Georgia Tech, my passion for sustainability extends beyond my academic pursuits. Through my sustainability internships at The Coca-Cola Company (Summer '22) and Compass Minerals (Summer '23), and my sustainability-led machine learning research in the Boukouvala Lab, I have witnessed the potential for positive change that can be achieved through sustainable practices. In my daily life, I actively make intentional choices to live sustainably and reduce my carbon footprint. I hope to continue making intentional choices I make to reduce our carbon footprint is crucial for a sustainable future domestically and industrially.
    Strong Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship
Leadership is a dynamic force that shapes individuals, organizations, and even entire societies. It is about charting a course, inspiring others, and making a lasting impact. However, true leadership goes beyond personal ambition. Great leaders do not desire to lead but to serve. Leadership is a selfless act of guiding and empowering others, placing the needs of the team above personal gain. Phenomenal leaders continuously strive for personal and communal growth and development, equipping themselves and their peers with the knowledge, skills, and experiences necessary to effectively lead and serve their teams. The function of leadership is to produce more leaders, not followers. It is not about hoarding power but about empowering others to reach their full potential. A leader's success is measured by the growth and achievements of their team. Before becoming a leader, success is all about growing yourself. Upon becoming a leader, success is all about growing others. A leader's legacy lies in the impact they have on the lives and careers of those they lead. Leadership is not about seeking personal recognition or glory. A leader is best honored and appreciated when people barely know they exist. When their work is done, and their aim fulfilled, people will say: "We did it ourselves." Effective leaders empower and inspire their team members to take ownership of their work, fostering a sense of collective achievement and shared success. The journey of leadership is not without its challenges. Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm. A true leader embraces setbacks as learning opportunities displays resilience, and inspires their team to persevere in the pursuit of shared goals. Leadership is not confined to the workplace; it extends to all aspects of life. A person who is happy is not because everything is right in his life. He is happy because his attitude towards everything in his life is right. A positive attitude and a strong moral compass, rooted in faith or personal beliefs, can guide leaders in making ethical decisions and creating a positive impact in their careers and communities. Integrity, insight, and inclusiveness are qualities that lie at the core of leadership. Leadership requires making difficult choices with integrity, having the foresight to navigate complex situations, and fostering an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued and respected. What makes me a leader is my commitment to serving others and empowering them to reach their full potential. I believe in leading by example, embodying integrity, and fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. I am dedicated to continuous personal and communal growth, and I strive to produce more leaders, not followers, as I believe that true leadership lies in empowering others to succeed. My journey as an international student navigating the realm of education has shaped my resilience, determination, and passion for making a meaningful impact in the field of science and mathematics. As I pursue my degree in chemical engineering, I am driven to contribute to cutting-edge innovations that address global environmental challenges and foster a greener future for generations to come. To me, leadership is a multifaceted and transformative force. It involves guiding, inspiring, and empowering others while remaining humble and focused on collective success. It requires vision, perseverance, empathy, and a commitment to personal growth. As we look ahead to the next century, leaders will be those who empower others. True leaders not only leave a lasting impact on their teams and organizations but also uplift and empower others to achieve their full potential.

In my daily life, I actively make intentional choices to live sustainably and reduce my carbon footprint. This essay explores the intentional choices I make and the reasons why reducing our carbon footprint is crucial for a sustainable future. To me, solar energy stands as an eminent facet of technology that will change the world as we see today. The Sun emits enough power onto Earth each second to satisfy the entire human energy demand for over two hours. Given that it is readily available and renewable, solar power is an attractive source of energy. New technological advances over the last twenty years have driven this increased reliance on solar by decreasing costs, and new technological developments promise to augment this solar usage by further decreasing costs and increasing solar panel efficiency. Energy producers and consumers are more likely to adopt solar power if the energy it produces is equally or less expensive than other, often non-renewable, forms of electricity, so any improvement to current solar cell designs must bring down overall costs to become widely used. Years from now, we are likely to see alternatives to silicon appearing on our solar farms and rooftops, helping to provide clean and renewable sources of energy. These improvements have and will continue to be made possible by increasing bulk manufacturing of solar cells and new technologies that make the cells cheaper and more efficient.
Academic Liberty & Free Speech Scholarship
The right to freedom of expression is crucial in a democracy. Information and ideas help inform political debate and are essential to public accountability and transparency in government. This includes the right to communicate and express oneself in any medium, including through words, pictures, images, and actions. Freedom of expression is a fundamental human right. It also underpins most other rights and allows them to flourish. The right to speak your mind freely on important issues in society, access information, and hold the powers that be accounted, for plays a vital role in the healthy development process of a society. International, regional and national standards also recognize that freedom of expression includes any medium, be it orally, in writing, in print, through the internet, or in art forms. In the present era, when social media has percolated to all walks of life, freedom of expression has become an important voice for the common people. It has immense benefits and they are as follows: Responsibility; a person obtaining freedom of speech tends to become responsible and also aware of liabilities. In addition, the power transforms society making it more progressive with gradual evolution. Governments around the world should encourage the common man to express dissent verbally as it makes democracy vibrant. It plays a very important role in opposing the rules that are anti-people and only aid the rich. Development of a nation; freedom of expression is instrumental in facilitating the communication channel between the government and the public. An autocratic dictator may never be able to understand the problems of the common individuals. Before implementing the social scheme or the plan, the political leadership can take the feedback of people to make changes in their social and economic lives. If freedom is curbed, it can give rise to armed agitations that will not only harm the nation but also destroy the social structure. Media is essential to voice the grievance of the general public compelling the government to take decisions in their interest. In nonviolent protests, a country with freedom of expression will rarely experience civil war or armed conflict because the problems of society can be dealt with in a free and transparent manner. Nonviolence is the primary tool in the hands of the public to bring in far-reaching changes. Freedom of expression helps people rise their diverse and even controversial ideas and opinions which lead to desirable and vetted sociopolitical solutions. The freedoms of press propositions closely link media freedoms with democracy development, as well as sociopolitical stability. The lack of access to freedom of expression is a problem that particularly affects minorities facing discrimination both in developed and developing countries. While their scale of struggles varies, these groups face greater barriers to freedom of expression than the majority. In conclusion; barriers to free expression show why exercising our right to freedom of expression is not as simple as living in a democratic society that broadly respects rights. Through being denied a voice, these groups are being denied a fundamental right, are facing barriers to their active participation in society, and in many cases, are facing additional limits on their ability and opportunity to play a part in improving their own lives. Tackling the barriers from poverty to discrimination to laws that limit access to freedom of expression is vital because it will lead to the development and democracy of those minorities’ people. A country with freedom of speech will develop because all people are taking part in what is taking place in the country by giving ideas and their actions

Just as everyone traverses through continents and time, experiencing cultural transitions, the circle of life…I did too. But for me, this journey was different –an incipit transforming into my self-discovery as it just began… With buckled shoes, a crisp-ironed shirt, and hair tied into a neat ponytail, I walked onto the podium and assessed the crowd. About 300 faces gazed at me, some impatient, some proud, and some curling their mustaches comically. Hands shivering, I tried to grapple the microphone, my eyes desperately yearning for my best friends. At last, I found them, their eyes gleaming with joy and their lips curled into an encouraging smile. I took a deep breath and just began… Whether I am writing for a magazine or my blog, the vintage, ochre bulb reflects its radiance on the creamy paper, a river of indigo flows through the nib of the metallic calligraphy pen, a mind screaming with opinions and a heart empowered with feelings partners with the hand ready to etch notions and emotions. Eventually collecting my thoughts, I shut my eyes tight, then gaze back at the beckoning paper and just begin… From planning a simple neutralization experiment to researching and writing articles on sustainable development & eradication of poverty, the magic twirling in a test tube or the enchantment bubbling in a crucible has always bound my interests to the infinite realms of Science and Chemistry. Stories encompass us right from when we barely grip on to feeding bottles till when we clink beer bottles open with our mates. Stories are so gripping that we’ll go without sleep just to see a little bit more. Yet isn’t that what a bewitching story does? Stories that are so powerful that they are with us forever. Rather, always! For me, The Wizarding World has been that pillar of support, that go-to option when I am heartbroken and in dismay, that feeling of completeness. Even without an owl-delivered letter, Hogwarts has become my home. Whether I come back by page or by movie, Hogwarts will be a home where I am always welcome (but what Filch or Peeves are up to when I choose to sneak in?). When I look at myself in the mirror, I see the qualities of a brazen Ravenclaw. Known for their wit, intelligence, and love for knowledge, Ravenclaws value learning, creativity, and individuality. As a chemical engineering student at Georgia Tech, I constantly engage in challenging puzzles and problem-solving. My academic pursuits demonstrate my intellectual curiosity and thirst for knowledge, which aligns perfectly with the values of Ravenclaw. Being a Ravenclaw means embracing the pursuit of wisdom and finding joy in unraveling the mysteries of the world. I enjoy delving into complex concepts and analyzing them from different perspectives. Whether it's solving equations in my engineering classes or exploring the depths of philosophy, I find satisfaction in using my intellect to unravel the intricate web of knowledge. In the world of Hogwarts, Ravenclaw's standard room is located in a tower, offering a breathtaking view of the castle and its surroundings. As I step into the mystical and enthralling world of Hogwarts, everywhere I glance holds an abundance of mementos. At the lakeshore by the castle, I can almost hear the Merpeople singing. I look across the rippling water, interrupted as a Phoenix flies across the clear sky, flames following its path. A sweet song escapes its beak as it makes its way into the sunset, and a smile etches onto my face. As I enter the Great Hall, it is lit by hovering candles above the long tables laid with golden plates, and satiny, tablecloths. Laughter and gossip echo from the far ends of the Great Hall as people discuss the upcoming Quidditch match, Snape's potion class, or worse - how to get past the Three-Headed Dog. I silently stare into the depths of the velvety, stygian ceiling dotted with salient stars that form a galaxy, especially for Hogwarts, just as Hermione had enlightened us, "It's bewitched to look like the sky outside, I read it in Hogwarts: A History." As dinner time rounds up, chaos ensues in the Great Hall. Cacophonous shuffling of several tiny feet, commands being thrown into the air by Prefects, cutleries cluttering to the ground as students hurry to their feet, Snape smirking at Gryffindors, Hermione piling up books, Luna putting away her upside-down Quibbler, Neville clutching on to his Remembrall, Harry massaging his scar, Ron and Lavender ogling one another; and I, I just stand amidst all the frenzy, taking in every last detail and acknowledging the fact that when they retire to bed, I have to go back to my Muggle world, back to reality. As I yearn for just a few minutes and question my presence here, I take one last glance into the depths of Dumbledore’s eyes and suddenly recollect what he once told Harry, “Of course, it is happening inside your head, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?”

I am a sophomore Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering student at Georgia Tech. I am always curious to use my analytical skills to help solve global problems through chemical engineering. During my summer internship at The Coca-Cola Company, I worked on developing alternative fuels for cold drink equipment. I am currently conducting undergraduate research under the Boukouvala Lab on the supply chain and optimization of the chemical recycling of PET. This summer, I will be interning at Compass Minerals. I am passionate about using my engineering skills to make a positive impact on the world. I am also a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion in STEM fields. As someone who is passionate about creating positive change in the world, I firmly believe that society needs to change the way it responds to the problems of the disadvantaged. This is because the current approach, which often focuses on temporary solutions, does not address the root causes of these problems. One of the biggest issues facing disadvantaged communities is a lack of access to education and employment opportunities. This can perpetuate cycles of poverty and limit the potential for upward mobility. Rather than simply providing short-term aid or charity, we need to invest in long-term solutions that provide individuals with the skills and resources they need to succeed. This can involve things like investing in education and job training programs, creating policies that promote economic growth in these communities, and providing access to resources like healthcare and affordable housing. Another area where society needs to change its response to disadvantaged communities is the criminal justice system. There are well-documented disparities in how different communities are treated by law enforcement and the justice system. This can result in over-policing, harsher sentencing, and other forms of systemic discrimination. To address these issues, we need to fundamentally restructure our criminal justice system to promote equity and fairness. This can involve reforming sentencing laws, investing in community policing programs, and addressing the underlying social and economic issues that contribute to crime. Beyond these specific issues, I believe society needs to change its approach to supporting disadvantaged communities. Rather than simply providing aid or charity, we need to focus on creating sustainable solutions that empower individuals and communities to thrive. This means addressing the systemic barriers that prevent individuals from accessing opportunities, such as discrimination, poverty, and lack of education. It also means engaging with these communities and listening to their perspectives and experiences, rather than imposing solutions from the outside. In conclusion, I firmly believe that society needs to change its approach to responding to the problems of the disadvantaged. This means moving away from short-term solutions and investing in long-term, sustainable solutions that address the root causes of these issues. It also means addressing systemic barriers and engaging with communities to create solutions that are tailored to their specific needs and experiences. By doing so, we can create a more equitable and just society for all.

As I sit here, brush in hand, I am transported to a world of color and imagination. Watercolor painting has been my passion for as long as I can remember. The way the colors blend and flow together, creating a unique and beautiful masterpiece, is truly magical. My love for watercolor painting began when I was just a child. I would spend hours upon hours painting in my backyard, capturing the beauty of nature on my canvas. As I grew older, my passion for painting only intensified. I began to experiment with different techniques and styles, constantly pushing myself to create something new and unique. Now, as I look towards my future, I know that I want to pursue a lifestyle in the arts. I want to share my love for watercolor painting with the world, to inspire others to see the beauty in the world around them. Whether it be through teaching, creating my own art, or working in a gallery, I know that I want to spend my life surrounded by the beauty of art. Attached are two samples of my watercolor paintings. The first is a painting of a sunset over the ocean. The vibrant oranges and pinks of the sky blend seamlessly into the deep blues of the water, creating a sense of peace and tranquility. This painting was inspired by a trip I took to the beach with my family. As I watched the sun set over the water, I knew that I had to capture that moment on my canvas. The second painting is a portrait of my grandmother. She has always been a source of inspiration for me, with her kind heart and unwavering strength. I wanted to capture her essence on my canvas, to create a lasting tribute to the woman who has meant so much to me throughout my life. The soft pinks and blues of the background complement the warm tones of her skin, creating a sense of warmth and love. In the end, my love for watercolor painting is not just about the act of painting itself. It is about the way that art can capture the beauty and essence of the world around us. It is about the way that art can inspire us, move us, and bring us together. And it is about the way that art can change the world, one brushstroke at a time.
