Deborah's Grace Scholarship
Hi my name is Rick Boyd. I am a 50 year old male and I have had a life long experience of adversities.
August 22 1999, I was rear ended by an off duty cop. The accident was a double impact. I seen the officer in y rear view mirror so I braced myself as I thought that I was going to go under the White Ford Bronco that was in front of me. Just as the impact occurred, I turned my head to look in the rear view mirror and when I did that the impact happened and what resulted was life changing.
When the impact stopped, I lost all sense of voices in my head. The left side of the brain contains the speech area and that was the area that slammed into my skull giving me speech issues. I still have a hard time with long syllable words and some mumbling of words.
Although, no one wants accidents nor bodily injury life does happen. And I have never given up on bettering myself to become more than what I was before. I cant quit. I can only win.
Thank you for your consideration.
Rick Boyd.
REVIVAL Scholarship
My name is Rick Boyd. I am a 50 year old single male who is still pursuing my Chiropractic degree at Cleveland Chiropractic in Kansas City. I have been getting my degree since 2006. I would have graduated by now but I have had a parent get sick and die. I promised her I would get my degree.
I personally do not have any children, but I do take care of my cousin who has mental issues and was homeless in Long Beach Ca and without me he would be still be homeless. It is difficult to get places to live since he only receives so much money on SSDI.
I am looking for places to live in Overland Park KS for my Chiropractic degree but all the places seem just out of reach for the qualifications to rent. I would like to rent an apt across the street from the school and even coming up with the rental money deposit is tough. Since I am the only one who is able to bring money to the table, the burden of inflation is taxing on any extra money I earn.
As a chiropractor, I would be able to help my cousin with adjustments and help him (hopefully) get him off of some medications. And as my income increased, I would be able to get a house where I can have an in-home adjustment office. I would also be able to reach out into the community and help out others who have income restrictions and can not visit a chiropractor.
Being a chiropractor to me is more than just a title, it is a way to give back to all societies as a way of getting their body, mind and spirit back in proper function. Thousand of people right now in low income areas are in need of a chiropractor and many can not afford the costs as some insurances do not cover adjustments.
Thank you for your time and consideration
Rick Boyd
