      I am an 18-year-old Filipino-American and my heritage is a vibrant blend of flavors and traditions. Food is more than sustenance, it's a tapestry woven with history, culture, and love. For as long as I can remember, I've been captivated by this art form. It all began in the warm embrace of my grandfather's kitchen as a small 4 year old boy I smelled a fragrant scent coming from the sizzling onions. Unlike anything else, the cooking channel held my childhood attention captive because I saw my grandfather's face light up with childlike wonder alongside mine. He, too, was a culinary enthusiast, transforming simple ingredients into masterpieces seasoned with love and laughter. Witnessing this shared passion ignited a spark within me, a yearning to understand the science and artistry that brought food to life. This passion extended beyond the kitchen walls. I actively participated in ministries at my church alongside my grandfather. After he passed away, I continued attending the ministries, drawn to the kitchen this time. Volunteering there became a way to honor his memory and the joy we shared in creating meals for others. It wasn't just about offering a warm meal, it was about connecting with people through the joy of shared sustenance. Seeing faces light up with a hearty bite wasn't just heartwarming, it reaffirmed my calling, to nourish and nurture through the power of food. It solidified my desire to pursue a culinary career, a path that would allow me to not only hone my skills but also carry forward the legacy of generosity and love instilled in me by my grandfather.
