My journey as an upstander, using my voice and compassion to advocate for change and build a community that embraces diversity and inclusivity first started when I recognized the absence of a supportive environment for international students on my college campus. I took it upon myself to create a vibrant community and initiate transformative changes in the dining hall to provide more diverse food options and ensure international students were taking advantage of the resources at their disposal. The absence of a community that caters to the specific needs and experiences of international students like me hinders our ability to fully integrate into campus life and also limits opportunities for cultural exchange and development. I eventually formed a group of like-minded people and collaborated with university administrators, and other student organizations to bring the International Student Association to life. The organization regularly organizes meetings, cultural events, and seminars to highlight the richness of our diverse heritage, promote understanding and bridge the gap between different cultures. Through these initiatives, we have created a safe space where international students can share experiences, connect and feel at home. Recognizing the power of food as a cultural connector, I realized that our dining hall lacked the diversity necessary to cater to the palates of our international student association. I advocated for change by engaging in meaningful conversations with dining hall management and sharing the importance of offering diverse food options that represented the various cuisines of our student body. Through my persistent efforts, I succeeded in sparking a dialogue that led to menu revisions and the introduction of a wider range of international dishes. This transformation not only provided a taste of home for international students but also encouraged cultural appreciation among the entire campus community. As an upstander, my mission extends beyond creating a community and diversifying the dining hall. My mission is about empowering others to stand tall, embrace their uniqueness, and effect change in their own right. The organization E-BOARD mentor and support the members, encouraging them to find their voices, share their stories, and actively contribute to the betterment of our campus community. By fostering leadership skills, promoting cultural understanding, and inspiring others to become upstanders, I hope to build a legacy of compassion, inclusivity, and social responsibility. By creating the International Student Association and championing diverse food options in the dining hall, I have worked diligently to provide a sense of belonging for international students and foster an inclusive campus environment. However, my aspirations extend beyond my immediate actions. I aim to continue to empower others, encourage the celebration of diversity, and cultivate a lasting legacy of compassion and unity. With each act of advocacy and every step I take in building my community, I strive to leave an unforgettable mark on the lives of others, ensuring that everyone feels valued, accepted, and supported.

I remember it like it was yesterday, It was November 15th 2020 when I my first college acceptance letter, and was super excited to be admitted. The initial thrill of triumph was soon fortified by the reality that I had not secured financial aid to support my education at this college. I did not let this get me down so I applied to 39 more colleges, making a total of 40 colleges and 40 acceptances. As the time winds down for me to choose a college to attend, I became saddened as I knew I could not fund my education out of pocket at all as my family did not have the money. I decided to navigate the intricate path of student loans, and I find myself at a crucial point. Working tirelessly to pay off student loans and tuition, I had to cut back on my meal plan to lower my cost of attendance. This did not do much help as the cost of attendance increased every semester. Having the cost of attendance increasing every semester make it even harder for me to keep up with paying off tuition and loans and possibly getting a meal plan again. With the increasing cost of attendance, I am worried if i will be able to continue my educational journey. Stumbling upon this scholarship emerges as a beacon of hope, illuminating the trajectory toward my educational and career aspirations. Despite tireless efforts to offset tuition and housing costs through jobs and loans, the relentless surge in academic expenses each semester has left me grappling with the stark reality that my income alone is insufficient. The significance of this scholarship lies not only in its financial assistance but in its potential to alleviate the burden of extensive work hours I have to keep up with to sustain my education. By substantially reducing the costs associated with college, it will afford me the ability of focusing more on my academic pursuits. Furthermore, it will empower me to continue spearheading the on-campus organization that I founded and currently lead as president, fostering a vibrant community and contributing through volunteer work in the local community. In essence, this scholarship stands as a catalyst for my educational journey, by offering me pathway to fulfill aspirations that seemed unattainable. Despite my persistent efforts to defray tuition, housing, and loan costs, the burgeoning financial challenges persist. This scholarship emerges as a pivotal solution, promising to reduce the impediments posed by financial constraints, enabling me to excel academically, lead on campus, and contribute meaningfully to the local community.

The dream of pursuing education abroad has been the driving force behind my aspirations. The realization of the profound impact such an opportunity could have on both my personal growth and the prospects for those in my homeland ignited a genuine desire to break the cycle. I so happened to stumble upon a college admission video on YouTube at the age of 16 propelled me toward this transformative journey. Growing up in Jamaica, limited resources often constrain educational paths. I became aware of the systemic barriers hindering many from pursuing higher education. The lack of internet connectivity and financial constraints posed tough challenges, leaving individuals, regardless of their potential, at a disadvantage. Even with the setbacks, I was determined to become the first in my family to attend college. It was very challenging for me to tackle the college admission process and this was both my and my mom’s first time. Deprived of the opportunity to undertake SAT classes, I was still determined. The scarcity of information further complicated decision-making processes, compelling me to carve my path. While I managed to take the SAT, the lack of optimal preparation meant I did not secure the best possible outcome. I decided to take out student loans, understanding that the pursuit of knowledge often requires sacrifices. As I reflect on my journey so far, I am mindful of the lessons learned and the challenges overcome. The weight of student loans may be a burden, but it is a burden I willingly bear, knowing that the knowledge I acquire will serve a higher purpose. My aim is not only to elevate my circumstances but to use my education and experiences to uplift others following the same arduous path. Firstly, I am determined to establish a scholarship fund aimed at providing financial support to deserving students who, like me, face economic barriers to pursuing higher education. By relieving the financial burdens associated with tuition and other educational expenses, this scholarship will empower talented individuals who might otherwise be constrained by limited resources. Furthermore, I plan on establishing a company dedicated to bridging the gap that often hinders students in Jamaica from making decisions about their educational journeys. I plan on doing so by sharing insights into the college application process, standardized testing, and available resources, I aim to empower students with the knowledge needed to make informed choices about their academic futures through this company by doing school tours and talking to senior or having a workshop. I plan to work closely with colleges that express interest in enhancing their students' access to educational resources and create a sustainable programs that provide ongoing support to students, by establishing partnerships with educational institutions ensuring they are equipped with the tools and information necessary to pursue higher education. My goal is to offer assistance by investing in the potential of talented individuals and fostering a culture of informed decision-making, I aspire to contribute to breaking the cycle of limited educational opportunities in my home country. I hope to inspire a new generation of leaders, change-makers, and advocates for education, ultimately playing a part in the transformation of Jamaica into a place where every individual, regardless of their background, has the chance to realize their full academic potential.

I would like to take the time to say thank you for providing me with the opportunity to apply for this amazing scholarship opportunity. I am Rianna Barrett, A first-generation college student, and a woman of color pursuing a bachelor of science in computer science at York College of Pennsylvania. I always had a passion for STEM from a young age and growing up in an underprivileged community fueled my passion for Computer Science even more. Seeing the difficulties we faced to have access to resources and services was heartbreaking. Access to technology is a fundamental right and should not be limited to financial constraints, and I aim to use the knowledge, skills, and experiences that I have obtained through my studies to help underprivileged communities gain access to resources they don't normally have by proving access to internet connection and devices to improve education within these communities. Being awarded this scholarship will create a better life for me in many ways. Firstly, The greatest challenge I aim to overcome in my journey toward a STEM career is financial constraints. I struggle even after taking out loans to afford the necessary resources needed to excel in my studies, such as course-required materials, tuition, and housing costs which made it difficult for me to stay on track with my studies at times. Not having a meal plan after having to remove it from my total cost of attendance to alleviate some of my financial burden made it harder for me to have healthy food choices. Having this difficulty force me to have to work on campus jobs to pay my monthly loan payments and provide meals for myself made it even harder for me to focus on my academics but I am determined to persevere. Being awarded this scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies and professional growth while being able to eat nutritious meals. With the financial support provided by this scholarship, I will be able to dedicate more time to enhancing my coding skills, exploring advanced concepts in CS, and participating in extracurricular activities that foster personal and academic development. This scholarship would also greatly benefit me by being able to prepare for interviews by purchasing interview preparation materials such as access to Leetcode premium. These opportunities would significantly enhance my chances of securing internships and full-time positions at tech companies. Receiving this scholarship will allow me to attend industry conferences, workshops, and seminars such as Grace Hopper and Afro Tech. These events are crucial in staying updated with the latest technological advancements, connecting with industry professionals, and expanding my professional network. This opportunity will better prepare me to contribute to computing and make a positive impact in the tech industry and for disadvantaged communities. With the help of this scholarship, I will be able to fully dedicate myself to my studies, and career aspirations, and ultimately create a better and healthier life for myself without having to worry about paying for essential expenses.

Confronted with the daunting reality of being unable to cover my cost of attendance, even after resorting to loans, and subsequently having to eliminate my meal plan to alleviate expenses, I stand resolute in my refusal to let these adversities thwart my aspirations. The burden of financial strain has undeniably left an indelible mark on my educational pursuit. It is a juncture in my life where the fear of compromising my dreams due to financial limitations looms large, casting a shadow of uncertainty over how I can sustain my monthly student loan payments while also ensuring my basic needs are met. These initiatives will kindle opportunities for educational advancement, empowering aspirants to relentlessly chase their dreams irrespective of financial constraints. Disney Super Fan Scholarship
One of my favorite thing about Disney that resonates profoundly with me is encapsulated in the timeless words of Walt Disney himself: "All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them." This quote is engraved within my heart as a guiding star for all the dreams I have and how I will get there. As I sit here writing this scholarship essay, I am not just committing thoughts to writing, but I am also embracing the very essence of the quote that has driven me relentlessly. This scholarship essay is a testament to living out those words in real time and a representation of the courage it takes to chase aspirations that hold tremendous value to me. At the core of my aspirations lies the sincere desire to secure this scholarship award, a catalyst that could alleviate the increasingly burdensome financial constraints impeding my educational journey. The increasing cost of attendance has cast a long shadow over my academic journey, causing it increasingly challenging for ambitious minds like myself to focus solely on academics. An example lies in the realm of meal plans which is an important part of the college experience. Due to the rising cost of attendance, I had to make a regrettable choice to cut my meal plan and even after making the decision, the cumulative financial burden remain unrelenting. It is in these moments of introspection that the resounding truth of Walt Disney's words echoes in my mind as a reminder that the courage to pursue dreams can be the very force to break through financial barriers. As I write this essay it serves as a testament to my commitment to overcoming these hurdles. This scholarship that I am vying for is not merely a means to an end, but a transformative opportunity that could alleviate the constraints I face. With each word I type, I am embracing the spirit of courage that Disney's quote extols, a spirit that propels me forward despite the fiscal challenges that stand in my way. In conclusion, the sentiment expressed in Walt Disney's quote continues across time and space, resonating with individuals striving to make their dreams a reality. This essay is a living exemplar of that sentiment, a portrayal of my courage in the face of financial adversity. As I navigate the path of education costs, I am reminded that the very courage required to chase my dreams could hold the key to unlocking the doors of opportunity that lie ahead.
    Maggie's Way- International Woman’s Scholarship
Malgorzata and I share very similar experiences. I came to the US 2 years ago to pursue my studies in Computer Science at York College of Pennsylvania. I am a Jamaican, a first-generation college student, and a Woman in the stem. Being a first-generation college student, and the child of a single mother, I had many challenges navigating through the college application process as both my mom and I had little to no knowledge about this. I applied to numerous colleges all of that had free application fees because we could not afford the application fee of universities. I got accepted into all 30 colleges that I applied for. Upon arriving at my university, I got a part-time job on campus to help me pay off student loans that I had to take out to cover the remaining cost of attendance and to provide for myself. This job did not pay a lot, but I know that I have to do this to help me to reach my goals. Despite my financial constraints, I am willing to persevere. As the semesters went by my college kept increasing the cost of attendance and housing, and my scholarship was not increasing. This put me at an even greater disadvantage and caused so much worry that affected my studies at times. With this issue that I was facing, I thought about the other international students at my University. I questioned myself are they facing this too? This led to me creating an organization on campus dedicated to providing resources to international students to help their experience as international students be easier, providing them with any information or resources I come across. By coming to the US to further my education, I not only break the generational curse of being the first to go to college in my family but also the first to yearn for financial freedom and making a difference for my family and those who are in similar circumstances as I am and those who want to follow my path. This path is challenging and burdensome, but knowing how hard my mother worked to get me to be where I am today with the little she had, raising me alone, and knowing the impact I plan to make among low-income families in the digital era, this motivates me to work as hard as possible. Thank you for this scholarship opportunity. If I am the recipient of this scholarship this will help my experience as an international student be more memorable.

This lack of representation not only limits the potential talent pool for tech companies but also leads to products and services that fail to meet the needs of diverse consumers. One way the tech industry can promote diversity and inclusivity is through intentional and proactive recruitment and retention efforts. This includes implementing targeted recruiting initiatives to attract a more diverse pool of candidates and creating a culture that values and supports diverse perspectives. Additionally, offering training and development opportunities for underrepresented groups can help to level the playing field and provide them with the skills and support they need to succeed in the tech industry. Another important aspect is to ensure that products and services are inclusive of all consumers. This can be achieved by conducting user research with diverse groups and utilizing design thinking principles to create solutions that are inclusive and accessible to all. The tech industry has a social and moral obligation to be inclusive because it plays such a significant role in shaping the world we live in. The technology and products that are developed in the tech industry have a widespread impact on society, and they must be created with the needs and perspectives of all individuals in mind. By prioritizing diversity and inclusivity, the tech industry can create a more equitable and just society for all. As a young and ambitious black woman, I believe it is essential for the tech industry to recognize the value and potential of diverse individuals, and to actively work towards creating a more inclusive and equitable industry for all. The industry must make a conscious effort to change and improve, not only for the benefit of underrepresented groups but for the benefit of society as a whole.

    Cat Zingano Overcoming Loss Scholarship
I remember it like it was yesterday. I stood at my desk watching Youtube videos on my break from doing homework, not knowing what had happened. Not knowing I had lost my best friend and the only male figure I had my entire life. My Great Grand Father was diagnosed with Kidney Stones. Over time had become bedridden due to a fall, and I was present when it happened. I recalled attempting to stop him from falling, but he was too heavy and crashed to the ground on me, breaking his hip. He was bedridden after this fall. Afterward, during treatment, his kidney started failing. One year after his demise. Because I had to be strong for everyone else, I was the only one who did not cry. Even now, when I am by myself, I still cry. If only I had been stronger, perhaps he would still be with us today. After his death, everything went downhill in our family, as he use to raise animals that were used to keep us surviving. My grandmother and mother took over for a couple of years. I started college in August of 2021 with high hopes of doing my best to help my family situation be better. In September 2023, my great-grandmother passed away from lung cancer. I was devastated by her passing because I was the last person to speak to her before she died, and I was unaware that she had the disease. It was sad and untimely because she had Alzheimer's and we were unaware that she had a disease and whether she was in pain or not. My mother and grandmother, who were closer to my great-grandmother than I was, found this to be tragic. However, witnessing their anguish broke me. Soon after, in November of this year, I learned that my mother has difficulty walking owing to a bone injury in her leg and several fibers that daily cause her intolerable agony, and my grandma is no longer able to care for the animals due to pinch nerve difficulties in her spine. Being the oldest sibling, daughter, and first-generation student, these events in my life motivate me to fight through it all and not let hardship conquer our lives. I know I have to do what is necessary to help my mother, grandmother, and myself out of the hardship that is against us. Before the holiday break, I worked 8-hour shifts during finals week to accumulate as much money as possible because I know I would not have a job as I am only allowed to work on campus. This I would use to help me to save for my mother's surgery to remove her fibers and to help to continue funding my studies and pay off my student loans. These hardship has made me a stronger person, and I live by the quote every day, “It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.” Babe Ruth.
    International Student Scholarship
As an international student coming to the US to study, there was a lot I did not know and did not expect to be facing. First, I believe that every international student, besides academics, is expected to meet long-life friends, hang out all the time, and explore more of the world together. So far, I am a sophomore, and that is yet to happen. I never thought meeting friends in a different county would be this hard. Those expectations I had when I was 19 years old slowly dimmed within me. But there were many downsides to this. Mainly because of cultural differences. It is almost like that would never happen. As much as I engage in conversations on a day-to-day basis, there was still the feeling of almost always never fitting in. I believe it is solely due to my introverted nature. Secondly, one of the biggest adversities that many international students like myself face is the difficulties that come with transportation. This is incredibly hard because not only do you not know where you are going most of the time. It is very expensive and very difficult to travel around in a new country and, to travel back to your home country during small breaks to see family back home. This compared with the difficulty of making friends usually results in isolation and depression and feeling helpless, as you're all alone in a new country. Having difficulty with transportation and having to stay on campus does not make it any better, as the campus becomes quiet at this time. You are one of the few students on campus, and the dining hall is not open, so you would have to provide food on your own. As an international student, you already do not have enough money to buy groceries during breaks. Another adversity was the feeling of missing food back home. One can buy different culture food but it does not usually resemble the one back home. This scholarship will help me tremendously to continue my educational and professional objectives. I have been trying my best to save money to help pay for my tuition each semester, but it is challenging to work long hours and the need to concentrate on my studies, even though I want to. Thanks to this scholarship, my tuition, and housing expenses will be less expensive. I will be able to work fewer hours while studying thanks to this scholarship. This scholarship will give me extra time to devote to interview preparation and practicing with coding signal assessments. I am now preparing for interviews to be a software engineer intern at a noble firm. This scholarship will enable me to go on advancing both academically and professionally.

When she wasn't focused, I opened the door carrying my heavy bag of science books. She shouted my name as I carefully avoided her and my neighbors so they couldn't see me. Only 7 years old and smart, I wanted to see what I could do with this cool gadget. How fascinated I was, hearing my heart beating from a cord on my chest. How eager I was to stay in the doctor's office when I saw the unique machines used to improve the lives of the ill. They were all that I wanted to play with. They gradually became a part of my reality as I dealt with these experiences as I dealt with medical issues in my personal life. As the years go by, I am still the child fascinated by the world of science and technology, yearning for more; I decided to follow my dream of becoming a part of the world of science itself. This will allow me to give back my knowledge to my community and the world. We are living in a technologically enhanced era, and technology is changing now, faster than ever at our fingertips. Regarding the health industry, my interest in STEM, mainly computer science, and the world of medicine, I will use the knowledge and experiences I gained to help to introduce new technology within the hospitals, clinics, and doctor offices around the world. I dream of programming something as simple, yet mind-blowing as a wand that identifies cancerous tissues from healthy tissue, or creating artificial intelligence that can assist in surgery of any kind of injury or ailment, making it faster, more accurate, and less invasive, than ever before. As a Woman of Color, I recognize the ongoing issue for other women of color in the health industry as patients are not given the same consideration when it comes to health care. I strive to be an advocate for women, people of color, and individuals who have a vested interest in STEM. I hope to be a changemaker. I hope to achieve these goals and strategies I've implemented for the betterment of my community and the world at large. I hope to be a part of groundbreaking technologies that will change the world.

A community is an environment where individuals share common interests. It is where an individual gets to connect with others. It is one of the first places where an individual gets to express themselves. Within my community, I have been a great asset, and I have contributed to numerous activities and events. Firstly, the most rewarding activity that I participated in is to give back to my primary school by offering to tutor the children who have problems understanding a particular subject area or problems completing their homework. For me, this is important as I am helping the youths of our community to develop their education and enhance their future. Secondly, I have participated in Environmental activities within my community, where I, along with other participating members, clean up garbage, recycle plastic bottles, and plant trees. I enjoy doing this for a clean environment is the best environment. Thirdly, there is a home for boys within my community where I had invited one of my teachers and some of my friends to donate non-perishable food items and toiletries to these young males. We went to visit them and perform an item to soothe their ears. We played a game of basketball, football, and cricket with the young men for they have never played these games before. The smiles on their faces meant a lot to me for they were grateful for the items they had received and the company they got from us. These activities I had participated in allowed me to be a difference within my community for I was able to give back to others. I was able to put smiles on many faces. I was able to be a part of many young children's education and made the living environment of my community cleaner. I will build on these experiences by continuing to give back to others. I will continue to care for those around me. I will continue to be a valuable asset to every community I become a part of and grow with the community.

The screeching of the microphone stopped me from my doing. This noise always meant that something exciting was about to be announced. "It is that time of the year again, Where contestants get to showcase their beauty, but also their talents, confidence, creativity, and intelligence to the school community. Most of all, to be crowned the Mr. STETHS or Miss STETHS Two Thousand and Seventeen.", Miss senior belted through the microphone. My small figure shook in anticipation to see the most intellectual boys and girls within my school. I sat and remembered the contestants who had entered the previous years. "I cant wait to see what the contestants this year bring to the table," I said to myself. Little did I know what was coming my way. The nominations were now closed, and the nominees were declared. I became dismayed as I heard the announcer say, Rianna Barrett. I had learned that I was the youngest to enter the competition. I had mixed feelings. A feeling of having no hopes of winning, and the feeling of winning. I thought an how much I would inspire others who were of the same age as me to challenge themselves. That motivated me to go to the big stage and just be myself. It was then my turn. I walked with poise and elegance and a broad smile towards the podium. It was time for me to tell the school who I was. As I spoke I felt tense, challenged yet motivated. "Members of the staff, my colleagues and opponents, a pleasant morning to you: standing before you is a smart and ambitious young lady who aspires for greatness in this noble institution. As I spoke, I became more confident in myself. I had to sell myself to the crowd. I was in this to win. “This 15-year-old lives by the philosophy, to succeed you must first believe you can. She is no other than Rianna Barrett." I could hear the uproar of the crowd that further broaden my smile. I had accomplished the first step in the competition, to win the appraisal of the audience. Several days passed and I had faced many challenges. It was the grand finale and the night when the winner would be crowned. I showcased my creativity and my talent. The roar from the crowd was pleasant to my ear. However, all this ended, and it was then time for the best part. The winner was to be announced. I had huge hope of winning, but unfortunately, I did not. This did not mean that I had failed. I had won myself the ability to never give up no matter how hard the challenge is. This motivated me to be better at my studies, as I take on education with the same spirit, to challenge each task to the best of my ability. Some years later I was given the role of being a student leader. Yes, I had also gotten another opportunity to inspire others. To let them know that if I could do it, they could do it also. This opened new horizons for me, I became more confident in being a speaker, not only in the classroom but also on big stages, where I had to perform songs, welcome guest speakers, and be a mentor. Every day I look forward to a new challenge to conquer, believing I could do it, no matter how hard it may be.
    Hobbies Matter
A lot of people say action speaks louder than words. But do it? Everyone has a different perspective on what that means. Words can’t express what they have to say, but the world where I write is where I feel no fear. From a tender age, I believe that I was an excellent writer. The only way I truly expressed myself, how I felt, what was going on in my mind was through words. Not verbally, but rather in writing. Writing is a hobby I grew to love from early on. Little did I know the reason why I did this. I believe it was due to my lack of social skills from a young age, as I find it hard to make conversations with people. Expressing myself in writing was so much easier for me. From poems, essays, to songs, you name it, I wrote it all. Were they great? I would say they are. But people thought they were more than great. They thought they were brilliant pieces of writing. Rich details, sensory perceptions, great wordplay were just a few of feedback from those who read my writings. But deep within, the true meaning behind why I write, no one knew. The words I use to construct a piece are left for the reader to question what I meant. Nevertheless, I write because it’s easier to say out loud. I write because it allows me to express myself at that moment, what I am vividly feeling, and it is like a gift to my readers. I write because it allows me to connect with the world in a way I would have never imagined. I write because it makes me feel. I write because it allows me to imagine things way beyond what I thought I was capable of. I write because it is what I love.

"She is clothed in strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future."- Unknown. My hair defies gravity. My skin is rich in melanin. I am a strong black woman. I have had so many experiences as a black woman, and I know that there will be more experiences to come, those which are good and those which are bad. My first experience as a black woman was within my school setting. Weeks before having done what I did, I started to love seeing black women in various hairstyles on the internet, so I asked my mom to do one of those styles in my hair. I choose Bantu knots. I boldly walked into school the next day, with my chin high and great posture. I felt great like all the other black women I have seen in this hairstyle. Nobody complimented me, they only told me how the shape of my head look queer and that I should never do my hair like that again. Nevertheless, I thought it was beautiful, and my mother thought so too. Later that day, one of the vice principals at my school came up to me and called me out. She told me that the style of my hair is for a home setting. "That is for when you are in your bed, that hairstyle shouldn't be worn out of the house. Take them out!" she said. I got sad and scared, so I took them down, still retaining my curls. I now had my hair in an afro(Bantu knot out) and the vice principal still did not like what she saw. I was told to neatly comb my hair and I did just that. As a young black girl at that time. I was traumatized that a black woman did not like to see my black natural hair. She has black natural hair too, and I did not understand it at that time. After I learned why people treat us black individuals like they do, I understand. But, I had a hard time understanding why other black people would want to bring other black people down. This experience had prepared me for all the other heartbreaking experiences I have to face as a black woman. This experience has not allowed me to crumble and stay in my shell. However, it shone light upon me to love who I am. To learn more about the black in me, and also to help other black people love being black also. I will use this to fight for other black women to know that they are smart, intelligent, and beautiful. I will reach out to those who need support.
