Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus in human resources, as a 58-year-old black woman, has had a path of tenacity and purpose. I am the first in my family to attend college and currently have a 3.95 GPA at Purdue University Global, but I am also evidence of my strength of will. My academic and professional experiences have shaped my vision to create a more welcoming corporate environment where black professionals can flourish. Minorities are practically nonexistent in my present workplace, and I have personal knowledge of the systematic difficulties black people experience in business environments. This lack of diversity addresses a more general problem of limited access to opportunities and the existence of implicit prejudices than it does only representation. Being in this solitude has just made me more determined to make sure that upcoming black professionals are actively encouraged and empowered, rather than just present in these venues. As I work toward a Human Resources degree, I see a unique opportunity to affect system change from the inside. Human resources play a significant role in shaping a company's policies and culture, so I want to use my knowledge to support and carry out diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI) projects. My main goal will be to establish and maintain an environment where black professionals may not only enter the business world but also progress and take leadership. I intend to create plans that transcend conventional employment procedures. This entails establishing mentoring initiatives whereby black staff members are matched with seasoned leaders, providing chances for leadership development, and so promoting an always-growing culture. Through concentrating on these areas, I hope to create a pipeline of black professionals ready to assume leadership positions and propel the growth of their companies. My own encounters with hardship and loss have given me great resilience and sensitivity. These attributes are absolutely vital as I try to inspire those who have gone through the same difficulties. Supporting and advocating for others will enable me, in my opinion, to help remove the obstacles preventing black professionals from realizing their full potential. Education has equipped me with the necessary tools and knowledge to envision a brighter future for black professionals in the business world. My aim is to utilize my academic background to bring about comprehensive transformation that will have a positive impact on both myself and individuals who have been marginalized. Through a dedicated commitment to fostering fairness in workplaces, my aim is to establish a lasting impact that enables upcoming generations of black professionals to realize their aspirations and make significant contributions to the prosperity of their organizations. My educational journey holds great significance beyond being a personal achievement. It forms the basis for my future career, focused on generating opportunities and championing the cause of black professionals in the business realm. Equipped with a degree in business administration and a specialization in human resources, I am ready to spearhead efforts aimed at fostering inclusivity and fairness in the corporate realm, ensuring opportunities for future generations.

Life has a knack, for testing our strength and resilience in unexpected ways. Despite facing challenges like enduring domestic abuse and being the first in my family to pursue education, I've encountered various obstacles that have molded me into the resilient person I am today. The path I've taken has been far from simple. From the beginning, prioritizing my family’s needs meant putting my college degree and dreams on hold. Despite the hurdles, my commitment to education and community service has only grown stronger over time. Family forms the core of who I'm. Sacrificing my goals to support my loved ones was a choice driven by love and responsibility. I single handedly raised my son, fostering his development in a nurturing environment. I also cared for my parents and younger brother until they passed away. These experiences have shaped me, giving me strength and empathy that're priceless in every aspect of life. As I pursue to study business administration with a focus on human resources, I do so with renewed determination; my cumulative GPA is 3.93. My aspirations extend beyond career success. I am driven by a desire to create an influence in both the workplace and my community. The field of human resources offers a chance to advocate for fairness, equality, and personal development within organizations, which closely aligns with my core beliefs. My life experiences have also instilled in me a commitment to serving the community. Witnessing the struggles faced by my family has granted me an appreciation for the importance of support networks and compassionate outreach. Through my studies, I seek to expand my understanding of behavior and human resource management to contribute meaningfully to community driven projects and nonprofit organizations. This scholarship is of significance as it represents a path towards achieving a held dream that was temporarily put on hold but always held dear. This opportunity will enable me to pursue education without the worry of financial pressure, allowing me to focus wholeheartedly on my studies and community service initiatives. The road has been challenging, with obstacles encountered along the way. My resolve has remained steadfast. I am committed to using my education to foster a supportive work environment and make a difference in my community. By receiving this scholarship, I’ll be closer to making my dreams come true. It shows that pursuing your aspirations and making a difference is possible at any stage in life.
