My name is Re’Shad Higgins, and I am a freshman at Morehouse College passionate about leadership, public service, and creating meaningful change. Growing up in South Florida, I learned the importance of representation, mentorship, and providing opportunities for others to succeed. Throughout my academic journey, I have committed myself to serving my community through leadership and advocacy. In high school, I served as President of Adimu Men of Excellence, Student Orientation Leaders, and Mentoring Tomorrow’s Leaders, where I worked to empower and support my peers. My dedication to service earned me recognition as a Broward County Student of Character and an Outstanding Senior Leader. At Morehouse, I continue my commitment to leadership as a Freshman Class Senator, working to improve the student experience and represent my peers. I am especially passionate about environmental justice, public policy, and addressing social inequities. Through the Bullard Center for Environmental and Climate Justice, I researched the effects of AI data centers on communities, focusing on issues such as pollution, sustainability, and public health. My team’s work earned first place recognition, strengthening my desire to use research and policy to create solutions. Outside the classroom, my experiences through internships, employment, and community involvement have developed my leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. My long-term goal is to become a leader who uses policy and advocacy to create lasting change and uplift communities that have historically been overlooked.
