I am getting a degree in Industrial Technology because I've always been interested in the way things work and how they work together. I am pursuing this field because it involves things I am good at, like problem-solving and attention to detail. This degree also opens up a large career area that needs more women, and it is also a field that tends to pay well. I believe that being able to pay for my college education without the worry of going into debt will help me to start my career sooner. I eventually want a career in industrial technology. My academics have been very good since the beginning of college. My current GPA is 3.9, and with the help of being able to finance the rest of my college career, I will be able to continue to learn and do well in my classes and coursework.

Book Lovers Scholarship
One book that I enjoyed reading was The Book Thief, written by Markus Zusak in 2005. This book is set in the time of Hitler and follows a young girl who discovers the knowledge and power that comes from reading books. Reading becomes the only solace for the young girl, Liesel, after the death of her brother. In a time when books were being censored and destroyed, it was dangerous to even have certain books. Liesel would resort to stealing books to read. This feat was more dangerous than just owning the books. She also forms a profound connection with a young Jewish man, whom her caregivers are hiding from the Nazis. This bond was formed through the trials that they faced.
I think this book is a great read for anyone. Although it is not necessarily a happy book, this fictional take on this particular historical period can be more eye-opening than just a textbook summary of the events. A book like this can show you just how intense or trying the time was, and this book shows a perspective that can purge every emotion about the things that happened. The rule of Hitler and the Nazis was very dark and cruel.
Everyone would benefit from reading this book, even if only by a small amount. Whether a person knows a lot about that period or if they know almost nothing, they can learn important things about it. I think taking the perspective of a young girl is more impactful than that of an adult, regardless of which side they were on.
