My name is Reighan, said like President Reagan but spelled very differently. My mother chose my name to match my grandfather Ryan's name, but my grandmother was the one who chose the weird spelling. I'm African and white American mixed, raised a single mother in maine. I'm diagnosed with autism, adhd , and OCD. I want to become a teacher and electrician. I've dreamed about my future career for as long as I can remember. In the first grade, I created a "dream job" project with "dream me" paper doll and booklet telling the story of how I would be the best teacher. I'm also a third-generation "eldest daughter", so I've always loved caring for kids, babysitting, and helping with homework, it's what I'm good at. My grandfather has been an electrician for many years at his own business. Thanks to him allowing me to watch and occasionally assist him on small projects, I became very interested. I loved using my hands, fixing many things, such as electrical appliances, remotes, and light fixtures. I once even assisted him with fixing our broken dryer after a power outage. I was able learn a lot through my experiences, and am very analytical in my projects, while working very hard to achieve a place of security for my future. I've learned about team building and managing different personalities, from working in customer service. earlier this year I was displaced from my home and was staying at a homeless shelter while trying to attend school. However, I am now able to live on campus thanks to the help of my school's amazing faculty. I plan to pursue dual courses in electrical technology and educatio, completing both degrees, and create a fulfilling life not only for myself, but for all,my future students and customers.
