I have several life goals. One of my goals has always been to become a volunteer firefighter. When I was younger, I always wanted to be a firefighter or cop(which happens to be 99% of every male toddler's dream job:) Also, when I'm in college, I want to play for an NAIA or NCAA school in soccer. Sadly, a lot of schools don't have men's soccer that are NCAA and have B.S.'s in Cyber. I want to obtain a B.S. in Cybersecurity with a Minor in Communications or Networking. Another one of my goals is to be able to work for either the NSA, FBI, an Adventist Conference, or be a contractor for CYBERCOM. I'm very excited because I was just accepted into Texas A & M- San Antonio campus.

Nickels Student Athlete Scholarship
When I started high school, I wanted to do all the sports in the world. As one knows, a homeschooler living in the sticks(deep in the country of Texas), it is pretty hard to join any sport. I have always been a big soccer fan from the beginning. !HALA MADRID¡ I decided to do table tennis. Some people want me to play football because of my large(big, not fat) size, but it's either soccer or table tennis all the way! I decided to amateur table tennis, and I then considered myself a student-athlete. Some friends and I would train every 2 days during the week because we had to juggle work and school. We did go to tournaments around Texas which was exhilarating. I still try to play soccer, but, the only time I'm able to do soccer is sometimes once a month. When I say soccer, I mean organized soccer games where everyone is 13 years or older, no little kids so I can kick freely.
There are a lot of challenges for student-athletes. Not only does the school you play expect for you to help their team get better, but, it can be exhausting. I feel for those who play in an actual school-organized sport and are juggling work, sports, family, and school. Being a student-athlete is not easy. We should be near the top of our classes because our academic excellence is considered when trying to apply to top colleges. When trying to juggle work, we have to cut our hours down so we can play the sport we love. You have to be very good at doing several things at once because if you don't, well, you won't succeed. The lesson I have learned from being a student-athlete is that you can't make it without God. You can tell me all day long that you can be successful without God, but to be truly successful, you have to have God at your side.
I have always wanted to be a student-athlete in an actual organized sport with jerseys, coaches, and an actual official league. I have recently been accepted into Texas A&M - San Antonio. They are a newish school that started in 2010. They don't have an NCAA team, but they are included in the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics). They have a pretty interesting men's Soccer team. I plan to be able to play for them as a wingback during the time I'm studying for my B.S. in Cybersecurity. This scholarship will help me to pay for college so I can make a difference in the college soccer league and the cyber-field. Thank you for your time.

Hi. My name is Reggie Clemente. I'm a 16-year-old brand new senior who lives in Texas. One of the things people tell me that I'm passionate about is sports and computers. When I say sports, I'm talking about soccer, football, tennis, golf, driving range, table tennis, badminton, volleyball, baseball, softball, etc. The list could go on and on. I will say. I "dislike with a BURNING PASSION basketball and pickleball." When it comes to computers, I like to tinker with them. One of my favorite things to do when I'm bored is to go through the settings of my Mac and change things up. While messing with my mom's MacBook Pro, I accidentally deleted several important files and info from her files. Let's just say that the rest of the week wasn't too good for me :).
For college though, I want to get my B.S. in Cybersecurity with a Penetration Testing and Red Team certificate. And possibly a minor or certificate in communications or networking. After I graduate, one of the things I want to do is to be a contractor for either CYBERCOM, FBI, NSA, or DoD. I also at some point want to work for the North American Division(nine unions, one national church, and a mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church put into one division). What I like to call Cyberwarfare is "the forgotten war." Some so many people have the same password for 50+ apps and websites. Several of those apps/websites contain personal information, like bank account access, insurance access, school websites, work access, etc. The list could go on and on forever!! What about when people connect to unsecured WIFI networks or click on the email that says," R****e, WE BELIVE THAT AHMED HAS HACKED INTO YOUR ACCOUNT." Once you click that spam, phishing, or honeypot email, WHOOSH, your information is stolen.
Cybersecurity analysts, engineers, pen testers, red teamers, blue teamers, and so many more work together to protect not only the data of their company but also your data as well. Analysts will stay up working late to make sure that everything is running smoothly. Pen Testers will become ethical hackers to ensure that the website you put your information on has no data leaks. Engineers would build security measures to protect against information thieves. I would love to become a Penetration Tester and help others by testing websites before they use them to check for illegal entry points.
This scholarship would help me pay for my tuition for either TA&M in San Antonio, where, I just got accepted into on November 16, 2024.

Leadership and science. Leadership has been seen since the beginning of time. When I say the beginning of time, I'm talking about before Earth. A long time ago, before the earth was made by God, God ruled heaven. There were angels. Many many angels. They would do anything the Lord wanted them to do. God also created other planets with other beings. I do believe in aliens. Not the ones with one eye, have green skin, crashed their saucer into Area 51, caused widespread fear, etc. I believe in other beings, made by God, who haven't sinned and live on different planets and galaxies. The reason I call them aliens is because we, who have lived on this earth, were the only ones made in the image of God. God is a leader. I know it is hard to explain to some people, but hands down, God was the first leader. You then see through history starting with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, God appoints the man to be the leader of the home. Years later, you see people having kings to rule over them and lead them into battle. Then, one of the most famous empires came, which was the Egyptians. Then, God appointed a leader to take his people out of Egypt. Fast forward a couple hundred years. People started switching from a monarchy to a democracy. Which, the most famous country that practices democracy is the USA. Leadership has to be in the future. If you look at history, you see that countries that do not have an elected leader fall apart. Look at the French Revolution of 1789. The rebels killed their monarch, and then they were ruled by literally gangs. Even though King Louis XVI wasn't what you would call a good king, France was better off in the hands of a corrupt king in the beginning, than a gangster.
One way science will shape our future is, we need science to live(other than God). What if we didn't know that the more oxygen a fire has, the longer it will last? Places would be burning for a long time. Science also helps us in learning to eat better. There are still so many scientific breakthroughs waiting to happen, but the only problem is that we have to go and look for them. I'm not a science guy, but, I know science will be a big thing in the coming years. Thank you so much for your time in reading this essay!

Now when we talk about the military, speak no more. I am a big fan of the military as a whole, well, not really the leadership. My older sister and my brother-in-law are both 2nd-Class Sergeant US ARMY stationed at Camp Humphreys, South Korea. I remember going to my sister's graduation from BCT at Fort Jackson and seeing Charlie Platoon all lined up with my sister in the 3rd from the 1st row. I was very proud of her in her decision to join the military. My sister is an ARMY HR Representative. After her BCT, she met my soon-to-be brother-in-law, and the rest is history. My uncle is also in the Army, 1st class Sergeant. He gave the ARMY 12 years of working and leading a group of maintenance fixing, arming, and disarming AH-60 Apaches. He is now in the reserves because he can't just bring himself away from Army life. I have thought of joining, but, I don't know for sure, yet. Thank you so much for reading my article!!

I would love to become a Penetration Tester and help others by testing websites before they use them to check for illegal entry points or for a government agency in getting into criminals' databases:). This scholarship would help me pay for my tuition to attend either TA&M in San Antonio or Bloomsburg University in PA. Thank you for your time!!

Hi. My name is Reginaldo Clemente, or you can just call me Reggie. I'm a 16-year-old brand-new high school senior who lives in Texas. I attend Sycamore Academy, which is an online school based in Keene TX. One of the things people tell me that I'm passionate about is sports and computers. When I say sports, I'm talking about soccer, football, tennis, golf, driving range, table tennis, badminton, volleyball, baseball, softball, etc. The list could go on and on. I will say. I "dislike with a BURNING PASSION" basketball and pickleball. When it comes to computers, I like to tinker with them. I'm known as the tech geek in our house due to my interest in anything that can connect to the internet and has an app to control it. I love helping my Dad when he adds new things to his work computer, like a bigger RAM, a bigger and faster processing disk, and stuff like that. One of my favorite things to do when I'm bored is to go through the settings of my Mac, changing things up. One time while messing with my mom's MacBook Pro, I accidentally deleted several important files and info from her files. What I like to call Cyberwarfare is "the forgotten war." There are so many people who have the same password for 50+ apps and websites. Several of those apps/websites contain personal information, like bank account access, insurance access, school websites, work access, etc. The list could go on and on forever!! What about when people connect to unsecured WIFI networks or click on the email that says," R****e, WE BELIEVE THAT AHMED HAS HACKED INTO YOUR ACCOUNT." Once you click that spam, phishing, or honeypot email, WHOOSH, your information is stolen. Cybersecurity analysts, engineers, pen testers, red teamers, blue teamers, and so many more work together to protect not only the data of their company but also your data as well. My favorite sport is soccer. I'm a Vini Jr. fan. Real Madrid is my favorite La Liga team, Manchester is my favorite Premier League team, France is my favorite FIFA team, and Austin FC is my favorite MLS team. My second favorite sport is table tennis, not ping pong. There is a difference. Table tennis uses paddles with rubber on both sides. Ping Pong uses plastic paddles with no rubber. I compete in amateur leagues in TX and I'm also part of the Grapevine Table Tennis Club.
When it comes to colleges, I want to do men's soccer and intercollegiate table tennis. The colleges I want to play for are either the Bloomsburg Huskies which are a D2 team and the TA&M Jaguers, which are a NAIA Red River Conference team. As a student-athlete, I would be able to inspire those who are homeschooled and have no extracurricular activities to put on the recruitment list for tryouts.
For college though, I want to get my B.S. in Cybersecurity with a Penetration Testing and Red Team certificate. And possibly a minor or certificate in communications or networking.
