Service has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my parents taught me that helping others is not something you do only when it is convenient, it is a responsibility. Because of that lesson, I have spent countless hours volunteering throughout my community and learning the value of giving back. One of the organizations that has had the greatest impact on me is the McKinney-Vento Program. Through my volunteer work, I have assisted in the clothing closet, helping students and families access clothing and essential items they may not otherwise have. I have also participated in summer giveback events and backpack giveaways, helping ensure students start the school year with the supplies they need to succeed. These experiences opened my eyes to the challenges many families face and showed me how small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference. In addition to volunteering, I have taken on leadership roles to create opportunities for others to serve. Through the James River Chapter of Jack and Jill, I organized both a clothing drive and a nonperishable food drive at a local elementary school in Richmond. Organizing these events required planning, communication, and teamwork. More importantly, it allowed me to bring people together around a common goal of supporting families in need. Seeing the generosity of students, parents, and community members reminded me that positive change happens when people work together. Another organization that has shaped my commitment to service is the Henrico Police Athletic League (PAL). Since I was seven years old, I have volunteered with PAL's Thanksgiving meal delivery and turkey drive programs. Each year, I have helped distribute meals to families during the holiday season. Delivering food directly to families has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life because it allows me to see the immediate impact of community support. Something as simple as a Thanksgiving meal can bring comfort, hope, and dignity to a family during a difficult time. These experiences have taught me that community service is about more than providing resources, it is about building connections and showing people they are not alone. They have also inspired me to think about how I can create lasting change in the future. As I pursue a degree in Finance at Lincoln University, I hope to use my education to help individuals and families achieve greater financial stability. Many of the challenges I have witnessed through volunteering are connected to financial hardship. By developing expertise in finance, I want to help people make informed financial decisions, access opportunities, and build stronger futures for themselves and their families. I also plan to continue serving my community through mentoring, volunteerism, and community outreach. Whether through organizing service projects, supporting local nonprofits, or helping young people develop leadership skills, I want to use my experiences to encourage others to get involved and make a difference. The countless hours I have spent volunteering have shown me that real change begins with service. By combining my passion for helping others with my future education and career goals, I hope to create opportunities that empower individuals, strengthen communities, and leave a positive impact for generations to come.

Growing up in a military family, I learned early that hard work, sacrifice, and perseverance are not just words—they are a way of life. My parents both served on active duty, and throughout my childhood I watched them balance the demands of military service while still making family, education, and community involvement priorities. Their example taught me the importance of discipline and commitment, but one particular experience helped shape my motivation to pursue higher education and the future I hope to create. Throughout high school, I participated in community service projects with organizations such as the McKinney-Vento Program, Henrico Police Athletic League (PAL), and Feed More. While volunteering, I met families who were facing challenges that many people never see. Some struggled with housing insecurity, while others had difficulty accessing basic necessities. Seeing these realities firsthand made me realize how fortunate I was to have a strong support system through my family, church, and community. It also helped me understand that financial stability can significantly impact a person's opportunities and quality of life. One experience that stood out to me was volunteering with Feed More. While helping distribute food to families, I met people who were working hard but still struggling to make ends meet. Their gratitude for something as simple as a meal left a lasting impression on me. It made me think about the financial challenges many individuals face and inspired me to learn more about how financial decisions, planning, and resources can affect people's lives. That experience helped spark my interest in finance and reinforced my belief that education is one of the most powerful tools for creating opportunities. As an athlete, baseball has also played an important role in shaping who I am. I have played since I was four years old, and the sport has taught me perseverance, teamwork, and the importance of preparation. Baseball showed me that success rarely happens overnight. It comes from consistent effort, learning from mistakes, and continuing to improve. I apply that same mindset to my academic and personal goals. Pursuing higher education is important to me because it represents an opportunity to build a strong foundation for my future while honoring the sacrifices my parents have made. I plan to attend Lincoln University and major in Finance, where I hope to develop the knowledge and skills needed to create financial opportunities for myself and others. My goal is not only to achieve personal success but also to give back to my community by helping individuals and families make informed financial decisions and build long-term stability. The experiences I have had through community service, athletics, and growing up in a military family have shaped my understanding of responsibility, service, and leadership. They have motivated me to pursue higher education as a pathway to making a meaningful impact. I hope to create a future where I can support my family, serve my community, and help others achieve financial security and success. Through education, I believe I can turn those goals into reality.
