It is common to feel self-conscious and insecure, however it's not as common to see those feelings being well portrayed in a song. Specifically in "idontwannabeyouanymore" by Billie Eilish, she greatly gets the emotions across through her lyricism. Which I can resonate deeply as I have had some self image issues throughout my adolescent years. As a changing and growing young lady who had been surrounded by the hateful words of cruel classmates, which begun to dig into my brain. This song made me feel seen, and that I wasn't alone. The sentiment of not being enough to you or to others is an arduous pain after hard effort being put into a goal. Same goes for being lost between what you think you should do for yourself and what others expect of you. Which is how "What Was I Made For?" emotionally impacted me seeing as it was released during one of my hardest years for me in high school and as a result resonated even more. Lastly, I truly fell in love with her song "Lovely" because of how it describes the comfort in being alone. For a period of time that's all I craved and found peace in, because in fact, it is lovely being all alone. Most may never understand it but the harsh reality is after fighting for a calm mind to escape the sadness and to finally feel ALIVE. It isn't always like that, and that's what I love most about this song because it truly illustrates that beautifully.
