I read books multiple times a month.
I have wanted to be a nurse for as long as I can remember. I was always more attuned to the people around me and was good at anticipating the needs of others. I began working with special needs when I was 17 and quickly found that I loved helping people. I went down a path of drug addiction/alcoholism by 19 and my goals to became a nurse was stunted. I found recovery in 2015 at 23yrs old and went to rehab in Branson, Mo where I rebuilt my life. I eventually began to pursue my nursing career. I obtained my CNA and worked from 2018 to 2020 in Arkansas and Missouri. I got into an LPN program in 2020 and obtained my license through the pandemic. I expanded my knowledge by working in LTC facilities, Hospice and home health. When the LPN scope was expanded, I was able to work in the ER in Harrisonville and I have found a new love for emergency medicine. I am working towards obtaining my RN so I can continue to expand my skills and knowledge on the human body. I love what I do and hope to obtain my NP in the future. I spend most of my days attending recovery meetings of Narcotics Anonymous to help the still suffering addicts out there and to continue to keep my own recovery. I am passionate about my recovery and my nursing career. My recovery is a huge part of my identity, as is being a nurse. I am grateful for the life I have today and for the opportunity to achieve my dreams and goals despite the struggles. Makes life all the more worth living.
