My goal is to become an airline pilot, because I am fascinated with aviation. My love of aviation started when I was young and would go on family vacations. We always flew to our destination, and I always thought the flight was better than the activities we did. I began my training and soloed at the age of 16, I earned my Private Pilot License at the age of 17, and I got my Instrument Rating at the age of 18.
I recently graduated high school with 60 college credits, some of which were from the University of Omaha. I am currently going to the University of Omaha in Nebraska full-time, to earn a bachelor’s degree in aviation. I am almost done training for my Commercial License training. My current goal is to take my Commercial Checkride by November of 2023.
During the school year, I work thirty hours a week, taking 19 college credits, and fly and study for aviation several hours a day. In the free time that I have, I read or play with my dogs. Every week I volunteer at a church. I serve food and clean the church. I work hard so I am able to gain respect, experience, and everything I need to achieve my goals.

Going into aviation is the best choice I have ever made. I started my journey to becoming a pilot because on every vacation I took, the flight was always my favorite part. All I could think about before, during, and after the vacation was the airplane. I always wanted to be back on the plane. Every day, I would spend my time looking toward the sky, hoping I would see an airplane. I told my parents that my dream career was being an airline pilot, and they helped me find a flight school. I took an intro flight there, and it was the best experience I ever had. After the intro flight, I decided that I wanted flying to be what I did for the rest of my life, so at the age of 16 I started taking lessons at that flight school.
Whenever I have a goal, I find a way to achieve it. I think about how the present will affect my future, and that drives me to work hard to complete my goals. My career goal is to become a captain pilot at an airline, preferably Southwest Airlines. This is a goal that has required me to work hard and develop good time management.
I have taken a few college courses between my freshman and senior year, but now that I am in my senior year, I have been enrolled in five college classes each semester. I am taking classes at a community college and the University of Nebraska Omaha. When I graduate, I will have all my general education classes completed, which will be sixty college credits. I am going to go to the University of Nebraska Omaha full-time once I graduate. The aviation degree they offer requires the students to get their Private Pilot License, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot License, Multi-engine Rating, and Certified Flight Instructor License. The University of Nebraska-Omaha also has partnership programs with several airlines, like Southwest Airlines, which I plan to join.
The Southwest Airlines program, also known as Destination 225, partners with many corporations, such as XOJet and Jetlinx Aviation. Once the pilots in the Destination 225 program obtain 750 flight hours, they are required to fly for one of the partners for two years. After that two-year mark, they can transfer to Southwest Airlines.
I recently earned my Instrument Rating and am currently working on getting my Commercial license. After I have earned my Commercial Pilot License, I will train to get my Certified Flight Instructor License. This license is how I will be able to make more money and earn more flight hours. I will be training students to fly as my full-time job. Once I have started training students, I will work on getting my Multi-engine Rating. This rating will allow me to fly planes with more than one engine. Once I have all of my required ratings, graduate college, and have 750 flight hours, I will begin my transfer to an airline or corporation.
