My name is Rebecca Boyle, and I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with minors in Finance, Business Leadership, and Entrepreneurship at the University of Scranton. I have always wanted to find a career that combines passion with purpose, and for me, commercial real estate is the perfect mix of both. What initially drew me to this field was the freedom, flexibility, and the unique opportunity to positively impact the lives of tenants. I see real estate as more than just properties and transactions; it’s about creating spaces where people and businesses can thrive.
My passion for commercial real estate began with my first job as an administrative assistant at my father’s company, Mountain View Real Estate LLC. There, I witnessed the entire real estate process, from observing an empty space to watching it transform into a vibrant environment filled with the tenant's personality and purpose. What struck me most was the creativity involved in this process and the deep, genuine relationships my father built with tenants. Seeing small businesses grow and succeed in the spaces we provided sparked something in me. I knew then that I wanted to pursue a career where I could blend business strategy with positive community impact.
This summer, I will be interning at SL Green Realty Corp. in Manhattan, New York. This is an incredible opportunity to learn from one of the largest commercial real estate firms in the world. My goal is to contribute as much as I can to their team, absorb knowledge from top industry professionals, and hopefully secure a full-time role there after graduation. Long term, I hope to own my own commercial properties and use them to support small businesses and entrepreneurs. Eventually, I also plan to expand into residential real estate, fulfilling my dream of owning rental properties across the country. I want to give others the opportunity to experience nature, diversity, and adventure, just as I love doing myself.
The most influential person in my life is my father. Not only did he build a successful real estate business from the ground up, but he also did so while battling and surviving stage 4 cancer. Through it all, he never stopped putting our family first, and he never lost his drive to succeed or his care for others. His resilience, humility, and work ethic have deeply shaped my values. He taught me to see challenges as opportunities and to always lead with integrity and compassion. Although I have big shoes to fill, everything I do is driven by a desire to make him proud.
Receiving this scholarship would significantly support me in covering the high cost of living in New York City during my internship at SL Green. As a full-time college student, affording housing and daily expenses in Manhattan is extremely difficult. With this financial assistance, I would be able to fully focus on maximizing this once-in-a-lifetime learning experience, without the constant worry of financial strain. It would allow me to take another step forward on the path to building my dream career where I can create, serve, and make a lasting impact on others, one property at a time.

Growing up in Sugarloaf, Pennsylvania, has had a profound impact on my beliefs, relationships, and career aspirations. Deep in the mountains of rural Northeastern PA, Sugarloaf is a place defined by natural beauty and a deeply rooted sense of community. I’ve lived here my entire life, and being raised in such a tight-knit environment has shaped my worldview in ways I will carry with me forever.
In Sugarloaf, everyone knows each other. Whether it’s a neighbor helping you shovel snow in the winter or a local teacher going the extra mile to support students, the people here genuinely care. Our town values strong, trusting friendships, supportive families, humility, and a willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need. Growing up in a small school where class sizes were intimate and teachers truly knew their students, I learned early on the value of personal connection. This environment helped me become a very social, friendly, and empathetic person. I’ve always loved bringing people together and making others feel included, qualities that have shaped my relationships and made me someone others can rely on.
Living in such a serene, rural setting also gave me a deep appreciation for nature. The mountains, open skies, and changing seasons have always been more than just scenery; they’ve been part of my emotional and mental grounding. From walks in the woods to lookouts over the valleys to spending time with farm animals, nature helps remind me that there is a peaceful world beyond the struggles of our daily lives. I’ve come to realize how much this connection to nature influences the way I want to live and work.
These experiences have led me to pursue a career in real estate, but not in a traditional sense. My dream is to own and manage rental properties all over the United States, in cities, by the beaches, in the mountains, and to allow others to experience the diversity and beauty of different places the way I have. Growing up in a place that felt like home in every sense of the word, I want to create that same feeling for others, whether they’re traveling, relocating, or just looking for a new perspective. To me, real estate isn’t just about properties, it’s about creating spaces where people feel safe, inspired, and connected to the world around them. Sugarloaf taught me to dream big while staying grounded. That’s the mindset I hope to carry into everything I do.
