Bio

My goal in life is to be a productive part of society. I am a mother and wife and I enjoy being able to give my family a better outcome through education. I have worked hard on getting straight A's while continuing to be a working mother and spouse. I am very passionate about going into radiology and I believe I will not only succeed in being a tech however I am going to further my education to nuclear tech. I believe I am going to be the best candidate due to the fact that my husband is a firefighter working extremely hard and picking up many overtime opportunities to make our dream come true, so I think I owe it to him and our family to do the best I can in school to give our family a better future.

I have chose to be in the radiology field due to whenever I had to go to the hospital when I was pregnant they made a huge impact on my experience. I was in alot of pain and discomfort and while the nurses and doctors was comforting I feel that the radiology technician went out of the way to make me feel like I was cared for. Since then I have wanted to become a "rad tech" due to that one person's compassion towards me. Having my parents from Guatemala I am always very conscious about being inclusive and using different diversity techniques in order to include everyone. Being able to be diverse in health care I believe is essential. People of different beliefs and backgrounds walk through your doors and you have to be able to set aside your differences to take care of that person. Unfortunately going to school is a very costly expenditure, I am currently working full time to pay for my prerequisite classes so I can get into the program. Now that I am into my program I will be dropping down to prn/ part time in order to go to classes and clinics. With that being said my income to support my family will be cut in half if not 1/4th. I will be relying heavily on my husband which is a firefighter to not only work his regular shift which is 24 hours a day on shift and 48 hours off shift however he will be required to work extra shifts to be able to provide for our family while I go to school. This scholarship will help tremendously in the fact that we will not have to pay as much out of pocket for me to attend school so in this year and a half that I will be obtaining my degree and certifications I will be able to have my husband home a little more to spend time with him. My goals after obtaining this certification next December are going to be furthering my education slowly into being a CT tech, as well as a MRI tech, and eventually moving to nuclear technician. Thank you for your time and consideration, please consider choosing me for this precious opportunity in this hectic world that we are living in. And if I am or not chosen for this opportunity thank you for participating and giving countless other people financial assistance.
