My middle school years, marked by rigorous challenges and personal reticence, laid the initial groundwork for a trajectory that, at the time, seemed elusive. However, the true revelation, the turning point that crystallized my aspirations and ambitions, occurred in the summer following my sophomore year. Immersed in the Terp Young Scholars program at the University of Maryland, College Park, I found myself at the crossroads of trepidation and opportunity. The pivotal moment unfolded when our team, united by a shared vision, stepped onto the stage to pitch our startup idea—REEL. Rooted in a commitment to alleviate teen burnout through creativity, REEL was not a mere concept; it was a testament to the transformative power of entrepreneurship. Pitching REEL to discerning investors was an exhilarating experience that transcended the confines of traditional academics. While REEL did not clinch the top prize, the experience served as a catalyzing force, igniting my passion for entrepreneurship. It was a realization that setbacks are not detours but integral components of the entrepreneurial journey, shaping my understanding of resilience and adaptability. The aftermath of that transformative summer propelled me into an immersive internship at a small wealth management company. Here, my objectives were twofold: to build analytical skills and deepen my understanding of financial markets. This practical experience became a crucial pivot, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world insights. Buoyed by newfound insights, I embarked on a summer research project delving into the intricate world of Bitcoin. Beyond its academic implications, the project unfolded as a microcosm of the entrepreneurial journey. Bitcoin heralded as a disruptive innovation, encountered setbacks and skepticism, mirroring the challenges inherent in any business venture. The research process turned into an exploration of the dynamic interplay between innovation and adversity, furnishing crucial lessons for my future career in finance. As I reflect upon my journey, it becomes evident that entrepreneurship is not only a career choice; it embodies a commitment to effect positive change in the world. Each challenge, whether in pitching REEL or navigating the complexities of wealth management, has contributed to my personal and professional growth as an aspiring business and finance professional. Drawing from my diverse French and Armenian background, I aim to develop personalized financial tools tailored to the unique needs of these communities, providing them with the empowerment and opportunities to thrive.
